Better to remember the past to see the future. These freaks today are off their leash. Never had to see hardship. Trophy brats.

Oh man, starting with the first one for me; Jaws. Absolutely will never go into the ocean again. Saw Miss Hurst once at a major drag race in the late 80s. Instead of a stamp, I had a Coke® bottle with the bicentennial logos on it. Long, long gone. Those ‘Trimline’ phones were the beginning of the end for quality home phones. That spurred private industry to make all kinds of junk phones. At one time, I had every single AC/DC album, now I have most of their CDs, but uploaded directly from those as lossless audio to Jriver Media Center app on my computer. From there, I loaded all my music onto a flash drive that I use in my Jeep. Very true about getting the needle just right on a turntable. That either really is David Lee Roth or someone doing a good impersonation, you can see that stupid smile. What’s up with that yearbook thing? I know who most of those people actually are, but is that from a movie? And of course, Phoebe Cates back then. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Mod Squad, I remember that show. I’d have loved that expanded several times electric racetrack. I’ll leave it there.

Hey Jim,

I watched AMERICAN GRAFFITI again recently and I found that it really holds up. Believable teen portraits dealing with genuine issues without drowning in foolish angst. I had never seen the supposed yearbook pix of the cast. Does that appear in the credits or somewhere?

Well worth a watch TBPers.

So the house I grew up in had a little store across the street. Sorta like a convenience store before there were convenience stores. You could buy a few food items there and a small assortment of other things.

The had an amazing penny candy case all the neighborhood kids would beg their parents to take them there to buy penny candy, including me. The parents hated it and we loved it. It closed around the late 60’s and we were sad but the parents were elated.

2nd grade , um, 1960. Moved on to another school district afterwards. That school in Fort Worth, some mean kids but they were mean at the next also. Mom dropped me off at the Fort Worth school on her way to work, a school teacher, and I walked home after school stopping at the most interesting store much as you describe.

Back then and I can remember while Fort Worth’s population was less then 60,000, still, the school would tell the kids to beware of strangers and even in Fort Worth were drug pushers.

Oh, yeah there were pedos running around back then. Seems like every spring or fall a warning would be sent home saying someone had been driving around slowing down to follow kids to or from school sometimes trying to lure one into a car. We had block mothers who had their signs up so we could run to a house if we felt threatened.. I still walked home over a mile by myself many nice days.

We knew so little about what our government was doing back then. And now they’re trying to keep it that way. As Archie Bunker once said, “they told us we can’t leave with those things (electric devices) and now they tell us we gotta live without ‘em.” It’s like that. We had a brief moment where the internet let us think we could get uncensored truth. It just took a little while for the government to put an end to that. What they can’t stifle with their social media companies, they’ll stifle by canceling and unbanking people. Look what Admin has endured with DoS attacks. No doubt “our” own government has had a hand in that. I’m pissed that I can’t see Twitter feeds, but I won’t be forced into opening an account. I don’t want to make tracking me easy on the fuckers. Besides, I won’t join any club that would have me as a member.

My lady kids herself that she can stay below the radar too, by not downloading apps, signing up for convenient stuff, etc. Yet, she has a phone, bank accounts, work and pays taxes, etc. Nobody can hide if they really want you. I take pride in being uninteresting to the traitors who run the sheet-show for now.

O/T — Not sure what to make of this, but TBP hasn’t worked in Safari for the past week – except for Tuesday.

So … today, in LibreWolf (a Firefox derivative), it’s working — but this TGOD shows up strangely — in between many photos are test descriptions such as ‘Maybe an image of …’ this or that — in one place, there are 6 of those in a row, immediately above the image from ‘American Graffiti’ …

Not sure what’s going on with TBP — or with my own software (I’ve had numerous problems with my Mac the past week) …

Anyway … I’ll be interested to find out if I’m the only one with these issues.

I was having terrible problems with Safari a few days ago as well. My tech literate middle daughter took mercy on me and installed Mcafee virus blocker and the scan found some virus that was causing the same issues you appear to have.

Thanks, Avalon … right now only 2 images didn’t load in LibreWolf — the red Ford Torino (immediately above the blue Z28 Camaro) and the tent (the 2d last image) …

PLUS … Safari still isn’t working with TBP …

I saw Van Halen two or three times with Diamond Dave out front, and their shows were fantastic. The swagger of the early years was gone by the time Sammy joined the band, and I never really cared for them without Roth. Same thing with AC/DC. I’m probably committing heresy, but I thought Bon Scott was a much better singer than Brian Johnson.

Saw them in 1978 at the now torn down Houston Coliseum. They opened for Black Sabbath. Had never heard them previously and frankly, all David Lee Roth did was swing his hair in circles…. I was not impressed. I know, it’s rock n roll heresy to say it. Never really liked em. Then again, also saw the Stones with ZZTop not too long after that in the Astrodome and saying the Stones were piss poor compared to ZZTop. Almost got beat up by a guy who looked 8ft tall to my drunk self. I was probably right though as the Astrodome acoustics were horrible.

It seems the “industry” preferred Sammy to Dave and all the experts said Dave couldn’t sing. For me, nothing from the Sammy era appealed to me.

I had Roy Rogers and Trigger on my metal lunch bucket, to old by Kung Fu. The gas pump made me remember the penny wheel when gas prices started to go up to 50 and 75 cents and the pumps couldn’t handle the price increase without that modification.
