Winchester Ammo History and Important Information
The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was established in 1866 and has been producing high-quality firearms and ammunition for American and International shooters for well over a century. As one of America’s most recognizable ammo and firearms companies, Winchester has a storied history of innovation, wild successes, and near-crippling mistakes.
The company is famous for its lever action rifles, bolt action rifles, and shotguns, and is synonymous with winning the Wild West. I find the White Box 115 fmj to be rather snappy for 9mm. You won’t notice much at all transitioning to “war shots” or presumed hotter loadings. I would have no qualms about running them through a 9mm carbine for serious social purposes. The carbine’s added several hundred fps and 1-200 added ft. lbs. energy make this “plinker” hit with real authority.
I met the lady who was foreman of the .223/5.56 and 7.62×39 lines in East Alton 20 years ago at a school competition in Alton. She and her husband and son were nice folks. East Alton was started specifically for Olin. Alton did not want to extend tax breaks to the factories so they started another town across the street that of course provided the tax deal.
I remember buying Dew Worms picked fresh daily by the gas station
owner at the lake where I used to go fishing with my dad back in the day.
Dew Worms are far cheaper than Winchester ammunition is and fishing
is a better sport because you don’t waste money on buying bullets for
stupid guns that can only be used on gun ranges with dumb arse targets
used for dumb arse target practice.
