The Soviets did most of the dying because their leader, Stalin, and many of his generals were incompetent butchers who rarely showed any tactical or strategic competence. The Soviets were only able to go on fighting because the U.S. not only extravagantly supplied them with weapons, clothing, food, fuel, machinery and tools, . . . , but also because the U.S. and British air forces pulled fighters and anti-aircraft (also used as anti-tank) guns away from the Eastern Front. It was American industry that won the war. Without it, Germany, Japan, and Italy would now rule the world. Hate America all you want, but it doesn’t change history.

You mean the factories with all of the American made machine tools and assembly lines because the Soviets were too stupid to build their own machine tools. The only thing the Soviets could do was copy everything. That is why it was so important for the Soviets to have spies. Communism proved to be very effective at killing off all the intelligent people who could have built those tools.

Their factories were up and running just fine, but they were tooled for wheeled vehicles and USSR didn’t have many roads or good ones. Those vehicles were for invading Europe, but Germany beat them to the punch.

Central power also ran into a variety of social tactics of resistance: local clientalism, avoidance of quotas, personal empires being built. The belief was that with the intensification of creating socialism, class enemies would infiltrate more and more positions.
Stalin, and the system’s logic, saw these new cadres as dangerous, due to the massive amount of power they gained in such a short amount of time. By using lower cadres, and lower party members (and offering them the chance to advance at the expense of superiors) he could thus weed out potential rival power centers while replacing them with administrators who knew who was to be thanked for their positions.
So yes, Stalin definitely cared; and those around him cared for him. But never for the good of the USSR.

Cite a book from a respected historian to justify your argument. Most of what “Soviet Union Is For Losers” says is right and can be supported by numerous books such as “Stalin’s War”. You can even check it by doing a search of the internet about Lend-Lease as I did for another clueless individual.
Do your own research. Yes, the USA did help the USSR especially with Studebaker trucks and food, especially spam. The USSR came out with the T-34/85, and JS2 tanks, SU 152, etc., while the US was still using the Sherman’s. There was a reason German soldiers feared the Russian front. Hitler himself admitted in the planning of Operation Blua (1942)that if he couldn’t take the oil in the Caucuses he would have to end the war. That was way before any supplies from the USA had any serious impact. See TIK’s YouTube channel for that. The German submariners called 1942 the “Happy Time” because of all the US ships they were sinking of the east cost.

Well Hitler invaded Russia so that makes sense. The Allies refused to take Berlin to limit their losses. That led to the partioning of Germany and Berlin, and gave Stalin lots of power in the cold war. Yes it looks like a bad decision now, but probably not at the time. Remember Patton allegedly wanted to fight the Russians in their weakened state to Moscow, but mysteriously died in an auto accident. You decide what is true.
Russia did most of the fighting and dying. Ukrainians suffered the most though. Hitler killed them on the way in and the way out. Stalin killed them on the way out and the way in, Their fields and crops were requisitioned or destroy for years. Civilian casualties were outrageous. Many starved that weren’t killed by the Nazi’s or Bolsheviks outright.
Russia was invaded by Germany the US was not. Russia’s major cities were besieged. US cities were not. Russia was pushed back in their own country, the US was not. Russia was not ready for war, their main cavalry was still on horseback. The US was already mechanized. Russians wasted men, refuse to let them retreat, and political officers shot anyone that tried. Russia executed those taken prisoner that escaped and came back to their lines. The US did none of those things. The US halted at the Elbe and let Russia take Berlin in building to building fighting.
Yes more Russians died. It could have been no other way. It is like saying more Americans died in the Pacific than Russians.
