A disturbing trend in America: New data reveals that suicides and drug overdoses climbed to a record high in 2022. The twin crises have been rapidly accelerating post-Covid and could be a symptom of a worsening nationwide mental health crisis.
Instead of ‘woke’ corporate media outlets pushing gender identity conversations and warning about the end of the Earth because the hamburger that you eat and the car you drive are allegedly heating the planet (what about El Nino? or the billionaires that fly around in private jets and sail on diesel-powered megayachts?) — perhaps America’s mental health crisis is a more urgent topic.
New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals a staggering 49,500 people took their own lives in 2022, a record high — that’s a 2.6% increase from the prior year. Notice a trend (we outlined it for you)?
CDC spokesperson Christy Hagen told Bloomberg that the age-adjusted rate of suicides per 100,000 US population was 14.4, up from 14.1 the prior year.
And what the heck is happening with white males?
“Mental health has become the defining public health and societal challenge of our time,” Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said in a CDC statement.
Murthy continued, “Far too many people and their families are suffering and feeling alone.”
Let’s not forget about our veterans. According to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America Members 2022 report, nearly half of those serving in the US military have contemplated suicide since joining the forces.
In May, the CDC released preliminary data that showed drug overdose deaths hit 109,680, a new record high, in 2022. If you combine both crises, about 159,180 people died last year.
The Biden administration can tout all they want about their “unprecedented investments to transform how mental health,” but that has yet to show up in the data.
As for corporate media, who compete to out woke each other, it’s time to report meaningful news about a twin crisis crushing America at its core.

I’m noticing some weirdness in my area. Last nite was Friday nite and normally the roads in my area are packed with people going somewhere, restaurants are packed and the mall is mobbed.
Nothing….
The roads are empty, restaurants are nailed shut at 9pm and the mall is closed by 8. Before 8 it’s practically empty.
It’s now Saturday. No kids in the street no neighbors outside and the mall is dead again. Parks are not crowded, just a few stragglers. Where is everyone????
Some time ago, I began to notice unusually high occurrence of sirens in my area. It is definitely not for crime. Something is going on. It’s many, many months, at least, since it began – maybe a year. Time has been passing strangely, too, during this interminable season of CONvid.

A lot of cars are crashing into buildings in my area. People driving into the bagel shop, the dry cleaners, the foot spa ect. Did people suddenly lose the ability to distinguish the gas pedal from the brake? 3 of these in one week on the same strip. I hear a lot sirens too. Mostly ambulances.

Tons of people eating out or shopping around here, it’s just everybody is hyper-pissed off and seems to get a thrill on being an ass to others.

If cutting off your healthy body parts or sterilizing yourself aren’t symptoms of mental illness, I defy someone to come up with something that is.
There is a difference between suicide and drug overdoses: the former is usually intentional.
Drug addicts are too selfish to actually kill themselves. They will torture their bodies with drugs and tattoos and piercings, and cut off their sexual organs, but notice they never die (or if they do it’s no surprise). They are the definition of sadists, and are of no benefit to society. These are the people we mean when we say, after someone we know has died, “Did you have to take this one, Lord?”
Honestly, if someone really wants to die, s/he will find a way. It is tragic but true. Some of us are much more sensitive than others, and do not respond well to negativity, especially those with mental issues associated — many of which go undetected. And we are bombarded daily with doom and gloom, the world’s going to end soon, there is no hope, life is over, might as well go to Heaven/Hell now because The Iceman Cometh. It is quite simple to see how this absolutely intended media overload can lead someone in misery to consider suicide.
Or sometimes it is encouraged by the military; in our training, we were told, in all seriousness, “Suicide is always an option,” referring to being caught by the enemy. A soldier is someone who is unselfishly defending his country because he believes in it — the opposite of dopers. Soldiers always have to perform their duties with competence and have actual pride in their service, at the risk of demoralization. Decorum and bearing directly affect morale. Trusting in one’s superior officers can literally win or lose entire wars.
Given the state of today’s military, do you see any of those things fatally compromised? The young boys and girls who used to join the military and become all they could be are now being told they are not all they can be. As if being potential cannon fodder is not enough pressure, and knowing you could deploy and/or die at any moment, is not enough. Is it any wonder our forces are experiencing more suicides than normal?
How could it be otherwise when the troops themselves are not normal? And how are these damaged people supposed to protect us if they cannot themselves?

In my experiences of close acquaintances, it’s easy to despise and loathe otherwise decent folks who are losing their battle with the demons of addiction.
The more difficult (and noble) reaction is to have some sense of empathy for those so afflicted.
We have little knowledge of their past that haunts them, or causes their failure to overcome the challenge, time and time again.
Some opine that tough love and care less treatment is what’s needed, to prevent enabling repetitious behavior.
And, there’s some truth in that. But still, if extreme, can be cold hearted.
“Walk in another man’s moccasins…” and all similar adages have some validity.
Parallels can be drawn with acquaintances who contemplate suicide.
The mind, in some, can be a fragile thing indeed.
When subjected to trauma, and subsequent demons from hell that are difficult to overcome, then support from family and friends is vital.
Rare success stories that pulled back from the edge of that high cliff can testify to that.
Cocky, arrogant pricks who label suicides as cowards are vermin, who deserve no empathy or sympathy when they reap the karma they sow.
They ought count themselves fortunate, to be blessed with the mental strength to not fall prey to the mental and physical struggles that others are trying to endure.
To see other’s struggles to overcome as weakness or cowardice reeks of arrogance.
There but for the grace of God, they go. IF they even believe in Him, which is doubtful.
Take this opinion for what it’s worth.
