there’s no need for a priest to intercede and intervene for me in a confession of my many transgressions. that is personal and between me and God. IMO (and I might be completely wrong on early church history), there was schism within the early church. one side wanted an organized hierarchy, and the other side believed that all come to Christ personally and individually. the organized side won out, called the others heretics and killed them all.

Thanks grace country pastor for taking some time to answer me. Well it’s worse than you thought because I am living in Germany and here the taxes are much more than US. Because I work hard 42% income tax + 3.5% solidarity surcharge on income alone. Then in fuel tax + VAT (sales tax) + environmental supplement + CO2 +++on gas (we say petrol) – basically 80% of the price is taxes. Oh yes then there is vehicle tax and all lorries pay motorway tolls. Import duty outside EU 30%. Ordered some stuff from US once and had to pay delivery man extra dosh. Then of course gift tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, sky high inheritance tax, property tax, property tax on buying a house, inflation tax etc. The list is endless.
Moreover we are not free like in US- wearing a t-shirt with Z printed on it will land you in the slammer or a hefty fine. And our information sources are often blocked. I fire up my VPN and put USA as my source and bingo – I get to see sites outlawed due to so-called hate speech. So the pastor is worse than you thought in that respect. Talking of respect – have maybe too much respect for him. I come for poor family and hate injustice but after that chat with pastor my SI-joint pain flared up big time and was bedridden for days (subconscious rage) TMS – (check out Christian Victorian Healing).
I don’t know how to say politely to pastor that I won’t be coming to church no more. He’S on a civil service pension – Club Fed as you say! Being self-employed I get no pension and have topay 630 Euros heath insurance every month – another mandatory tax – even if I do not work any more. Never claimed on it since then it woud probably double! Besides went to 9 specialists and got 9 different incorrect diagnoses. Useless quacks- now I know that I am forced at gunpoint to pay for this snake-oil profession.
Pastor also has widely different views. He believes Jesus does not heal all believers who want healing. (Well we all gotta die of some disease- so logically He heals no-one). I believe he does not differentiate that fact. Logics is missing with many at our church – they say it is not always God’s will to heal but then go to quacks!). And he believes that salvation can be lost.
That sounds like an absolute financial nightmare. I can’t help you with any of that, I have my own challenges of course, but I’d be more than happy to speak to you about scripture if you’d like.
