SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
Anthony Aaron, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Steve C.

Tchaikovksy: Francesca da Rimini

Tchaikovsky. An unusual piece for him I think.

Inspired by a scene from Dante’s Inferno, Tchaikovsky throws everything the orchestra has got at this terrifying tale of adultery, murder, and damnation.

CMC Flash Mob at the Bank of America Building, NYC

This is an update on their original in 2013. This one is from 2022.

CMC delighted holiday shoppers with a tenth anniversary flash mob at the Bank of America building in midtown Manhattan. Almost ten years ago, CMC made the first flash mob.

Now we have a new bunch of kids and some returning alumni. See if you can spot them.

Here’S the original version from our Sunday Morning Classics On TBP 2020 post. It was recorded in 2013.

Flash mob music: Prelude GM J.S. Bach and “Palladio” by Karl Jenkins

Opera Flash Mob at the North Market

We surprised guests at Downtown Columbus’ North Market with a special flash mob performance!

And now some international flashmobs…

Flash Mob – Verdi’s Drinking Song (Libiamo ne’ lieti calici), La Traviata at Drake’s

Italian opera stars spoof customers at Australian market.

This is an effort to tease and bring classical opera out of the symphony hall and to the masses who may not normally see and hear it.

Tchaikovsky Flashwaltz at Hadassah Hospital

Forty students from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance took a classical approach to the flashmob as they flashwaltzed Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers at the new Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower in Jerusalem.

Doctors, patients and passers-by joined in the fun.

The surprise concert was part of Good Deeds Day, an annual event that originated in Israel in 2007 and now takes place in over 50 countries worldwide. On this day volunteers reach out to the less fortunate and the vulnerable.

The Academy students enjoyed the day so much that they have decided to schedule regular concerts at the hospital. Hadassah Medical Organization treats over one million patients annually, without regard to race, religion or national origin.

Hi Sunday Music Crew,as always ,thanks.

Sorry I missed you last weekend, but since a music related reason will tell it now.

As most on the site know,Jethro Tull was /is me favorite band, saw them first time when I was 12 with me babysitter in 1975,have seen over a 100 times thru the decades.

Anyhow, what was left of Tull played last Saturday in Boston, day of show, got on ticket master(hate em) and locked in a front row seat!Hmmmmm…..,Houston,we have a problem.Seems can only be sent to a “smart phone”,I have a old flip, not going to work. So,called the master and guy was actually helpful, hooked me up directly with box office of show place, woman there said I could hold ticket as will call as they do for every show, said did not see that option, she checked, sure enough was first show not a option.

In the end, missed show, got really drunk and spent the next day hiking to kill off the hangover, hence me no show here.

So,me morning contribution is……,wait for it……,Jethro Tull(no surprise there).

That said, certainly fits in the classical music theme!

Appreciate these posts, even though I very rarely comment on them. Problem for me is that they’re on Sundays when I’m usually busy running around getting things done. I need to remember to go back to these posts during the week and have the music on in the background while I work.

Today, I’m cooking & prepping all day so listening…
