It is a great movie. One of the best ever made. That said , the hollywood mind machine was at work even then. The film explains away bank runs as ” the panicked peoples fault ” , while leaving the BIG bankers totally forgotten, unmentioned …… blameless. Mr. Potter was the bad guy , a low-midlevel opportunist.
The Federal Reserve , their Wall St. mafia went quite unnoticed. All roads in this shit , go back to the FED.
Agreed, I also did a write on this movie. My theme focused on the issue of home ownership so eloquently presented to us by the film. Just think of how Schwab is running around saying “You will own nothing.”
I recall reading somewhere that this was the first movie where the bad guy (Mr Potter) actually won … i.e., he had the missing money all along and just kept it.
Always loved that movie.
