Saying “but I like my EV” is like saying “boy, if I still had my original arms, I would NEVER be able to crush cans like I can with these artificial limbs.” At least when Phillips came out with the first flat screen TV for $10,000, NOBODY stole from me to help the filthy rich pay for one. And the GOAL of every TV maker was to make them cheaper, better, more-reliable, etc. to capture more of the market….because NOBODY was going to be STEALING from the rest of society to subsidize the sales (well, other than government installations, which by definition are funded through theft). Notice you don’t see all electric snowmobiles….yet.

Jack from Clowna (the EV owner) just needs to “get a bite to eat” about sixteen more times and then he’ll be 2/3 ready to go. What a fucking idiot.

Look on the bright side. He can eat anything he wants and he won’t get gas.

There is a miniscule portion of society for which EV technology is a reasonable option. For the vast majority however it is NOT a viable option. Anyone in the second group who is stupid enough to try and use an EV for daily life richly deserves ALL the misery, headaches and costs that results from that folly.

Indeed. Battery powered vehicles absolutely have their place (salt mines for instance, where exhaust emissions would be horrible). Everyone should be FREE to choose what works for them and what doesn’t. Just like very windy locations MIGHT be ok for wind turbines of some sort, and rivers MIGHT be ok for hydroelectric/hyrdropowered options. But it should ALWAYS be up to the unmolested consumer.

My guess is that the salt miners have long, long, long ago figured out any problems or issues with exhaust emissions and finding ways around them …

If you live in a cold climate, like I do, and you buy an EV you’re either stupid or wealthy enough to not bare the consequences of being stupid.

My apple tree barely bears enough fruit for me, let alone for the bears barely bearing their hunger. One of them asked if I knew the difference between a bare ass and a bear ass? Then he said “Kiss my bear ass,” or was it “kiss my bare ass?” Not sure, but I grinned and beared it. Or is it, “grin and bared it?” Anyway, I finally told him to “Kiss my bare ass” to which he replied, Kiss My bare ass!” And we argued into the night.

EVs are still a toy. Just read a stat that only 2% of EV owners have an EV as their sole form of transportation. The 98% of EV owners have an ICE vehicle too.

Do the downvoters mean they have never used a simple and fun golf cart? How about taken high-speed rail or a streetcar? Seen the Zamboni? smh

High speed rail and streetcars don’t rely on batteries. That’s probably what your downvoters thought you meant, battery powered cars like Teslas, etc.

and there is a place for them, electric cars, in the mix and along the spectrum of transportation modalities — just not in Saskatchewan in deep Winter.

The whole concept of having to charge for two hours at $100 cdn with the heaters on for a 2/3 full result is full retard and FJT.

It will thaw out when the EV goes into spontaneous combustion and the driver will be plenty warm.

It got down to -20 last night on my 10 acres north of Coeur D’Alene.
It has not been that cold in my 25 years here.
10 or 11 winters ago, I got called out to get the Hauser Fueling Facility running.
It was only -15.
I grew up in northern Minnesota where New Years Eve was ALWAYS bitterly cold.
My Parents would go out onto the lakes and snowmobile from party to party.
We had a 10Hp Skidoo at the time.
The local Priest had an 8Hp skidoo.
I have worked on the Plains of Central Minnesota replacing the 30 foot electric heater elements that are bolted to the Rail to keep the switch points snow and ice free.
That afternoon, it was -30 in the afternoon and the wind chill was -70.
10 to 15 minutes was all I could bare before getting back in the truck.
The insulation on the end wires shatter rather than peal with a knife.
Growing up, I remember DAYS where the temp never got above Zero and weeks where the temp never got above freezing.
I have no clue how those in Canada can survive their exceptional cold.
I am sure the Government is bending over backwards in their efforts to keep their imported “Guests” warm and sheltered.

I experienced those cold extremes when I was young and immortal.
It is Balmy in Idaho compare to the Plains of the Midwest and Canada.

I’ve worked in Saskatchewan on two different projects both over winter time. There is no f’n way I would rent an EV. My gas powered car never warmed up in a 20 km drive.
It’s the coldest place I’ve ever been

Good car for the wife, around town, not useful for significant distances over the road. Also a good car for the side piece, around town.

Exactly.
More people should buy electric vehicles.
So the demand for gas and diesel drops.
Demand drop = price drop.
Let’s start seeing more pro EV articles in the alt-media, please.
