SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
Anthony Aaron, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Steve C / Classic Music Mafia: Here is the image depicting “The Classic Music Gangsters,” a whimsical and imaginative group of classical musicians with a playful gangster twist. The scene is set in an old-world music hall with rich, vintage decor, where the musicians are performing in stylish 1920s-era gangster attire. The atmosphere is mysterious yet sophisticated, capturing the unique blend of classical music and a lighthearted gangster theme. – aka.attrition

C.P.E. Bach: Symphonies for Hamburg

This release presents the 4 symphonies that Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach wrote during his stay in Hamburg. In these large-scale works the string section is extended with 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 horns and bassoon, instruments which are treated quasi solistically, so that one can almost speak of a Sinfonia Concertante.

The musical language is clearly “Sturm und Drang”, full of vehement dynamics and changes of sentiment, the fingerprint of this most famous son of Johann Sebastian.

Brilliant performances on period instruments by Solamente Naturali, an exciting group of early music players from Bratislava.

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (8 March 1714 – 14 December 1788), also formerly spelled Karl Philipp Emmanuel Bach, and commonly abbreviated C. P. E. Bach, was a German Classical period composer and musician, the fifth child and second surviving son of Johann Sebastian Bach and Maria Barbara Bach.

C. P. E. Bach was an influential composer working at a time of transition between his father’s Baroque style and the Classical style that followed it. His personal approach, an expressive and often turbulent one known as empfindsamer Stil or ‘sensitive style’, applied the principles of rhetoric and drama to musical structures. His dynamism stands in deliberate contrast to the more mannered galant style also then in vogue.

Last June 25th, I offered CPE Bach’s Cello Concerto in A minor, Wq 170.

Today I wish to return to his music …

Here is another ‘folia’, from Vivaldi …

Vivaldi: La Folia (Madness) — Apollo’s Fire

Antonio Vivaldi’s “La Folia” (Madness), arranged by Jeannette Sorrell after Sonata XII

Apollo’s Fire – The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra

The Folia was an ancient Spanish/Portuguese dance which traditionally got faster and wilder toward the end. The girls who danced it were said to be “mad,” thus the name Folia (madness or folly).

John Williams & Vienna Philharmonic – Williams: Imperial March (from “Star Wars”)

Star Wars, The Imperial March. John Willaims and the Vienna Philharmonic:

John Williams’ movie soundtracks are among the best-loved of all time. Before a single note had been played at the Hollywood legend’s debut concert with the Vienna Philharmonic, Maestro Williams received a standing ovation. Their sensational performance of the “Imperial March” from “Star Wars” underlined the rapport and affection between orchestra and composer. “It was honestly one of the best presentations of that March I’ve ever heard”, Williams reflected afterwards. “They played it as though they owned it.”

Danish (S.O.) goes good with coffee on a Sunday Morning.
Focus on the good, dismiss the bad, have empathy for the ugly.
Thx for highlighting Sarah Hicks, nkit.

Likewise, for the theme from the Mag. 7. Good stuff.

Complete the trifecta, with the theme from The Lone Ranger,
classically known as Rossini’s William Tell Overture.

For the kiddos, here is

41 seconds of a 5-year old. Amazing how some are just gifted.

Thanks as always Sunday Music Crew!

I had serious issues with page last week and posting, not sure why.

I wanted to add more rare rock tunes during open post session, well, gonna have to wait till next Christmas!

I will later in day post a song that is rock as always with classical instruments being a part of tune, because,as they say,if you ain’t cheating you ain’t winning!

Here is a parental warning label for the Sunday Music!

This Yuja Wang performance is so outstanding that I watch it frequently!
The announcer uses a great word that I had to look up for the definition.!
“Something that is inimitable is, literally, not able to be imitated. In actual usage, the word describes things so
uniquely extraordinary as to not be copied or equaled, why you often hear it used to praise outstanding talents or performances.”

Ok,here is a tune off me favorite album by me favorite band, hmmmmm, who could this be?!

comment image

This was orchestrated tune wise by David Palmer who later (year or so)joined the band full time and played the portative pipe organ and backup vocals, has cello/violins ect. so counts(in me book)as classical!

Queen And Country by Jethro Tull!

Enjoy the weekend all, checking me storm preps as we may get about 12″ Monday night into Tuesday,gennys/lanterns/recharged batteries ect. While I do this folks are panic shopping,a child asking mom why she is buying cat food in said panic even though they don’t own a cat!I imagine no milk by tommorow a.m. will be on shelves, what is it with folks and milk during snow?

Any how,as usual I digress, hope you like the tune.
