I hope The Chosen is just the last gasp of evangelicals. Do young people even care about it?

Some of the Catholic author’s criticisms were kinda funny though. Like Mary was too ugly.

Are the 9 downvoots for insulting the fictional tv show, or for repeating the offended catholic?

I don’t think it’s fair trying to pin this on Protestants, it’s just as painful for anyone who truly loves Jesus to watch this. And while I constantly cringed watching the first couple of seasons, I pray that it will end up leading some to read the Bible and discover the real Christ there, in which case, along with Paul, I will rejoice that they have found salvation even through something that is “entertainment” and not biblical.

Philippians 1:15‭-‬18
Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

“last gasp of evangelicals’… really? I don’t know what you mean by ‘evangelicals’ but as the famous retort to “Christianity has failed’, which was, “on the contrary, Christianity has not been tried!”

If I were a Catholic choir boy I’d be pretty nervous about any new program with a name like that.

Shouldn’t Catholics be more concerned with their Anti-Christian marxist Pope than whether or not Mormons and Protestants stretched the truth a bit about Jesus for a TV show?

Or maybe turn the tv off and find time to conquer both subjects you mention?

I’m sure anybody with a few brain cells to rub together knows the show is going to take some creative liberties to fill in the gaps. There’s a big difference between deliberate false teaching and human error/speculation. The author of this article went off on a nit picky Catholic vs Protestant tangent while there’s more important issues Catholics should prioritize like their Pope not being a Christian.

It is blaspheme to even try to make such a show. We are instructed not to add to or take away from the Bible and there is not enough detail to make a show. It shouldn’t be done.

Fine, stay self-righteous. Meanwhile secular culture is promoting satanic worship. This music video by Doja Cat was released 6 months ago and has 193 million view. Your comment is exactly why Christianity is failing. Your priorities are jacked up if you think a tv show about Christ is the biggest threat right now. SMH.

Give it a rest. It’s a TV show. “Based on a true story”. 99.9% fiction. But very well written and acted. I like it.

I’m wondering if the author has actually watched every show in the 3 seasons that are available?

This is a hit piece on what I believe to be one of the best, if not the best, depictions of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been moved by this show and I believe it has an anointing.

Yes, the lead character Jonathan Roumie is a Catholic. However, none of this is brought into the show. To be clear, I am not a Catholic and I have many issues with their doctrine and a Big problem with their Pope, a clear Marxist. So, I am not an apologist for them.

I’m heading out so, that’s it for now.

I don’t believe in your gospel, but even I know when people are inventing new ones.

Brewmeister, off all comments here, yours most accurately states where my feelings land. Well put.

I wrote a piece about it under a pen name a few months back, and took great effort to state that many might not agree with my take on it, and to just pass on it, if the topic causes cringe.
A few supported the article, and a few dismissed the appreciation of the series, and the faith of others as hopelessly naive.
Whatever.
What matters is what works for each of us as individuals.
We trust our guts, & ignore the critics.
It’s a great series, in my opinion.

If anyone disagrees, free will.

Thanks. As info, I recommended the series to my unbelieving brother, hoping it might get him to open his eyes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After he watched the first 2 seasons (all that was available at the time) he told me some of the scenes brought tears to his eyes. Although he is still not saved, I believe some seeds were planted.

What do you mean by anointing? If anyone actually wants to learn about real Christianity and the real Jesus Christ, here is an excellent resource: https:// thewordendures.org

Buddy Christ is better than Madison Avenue Jesus any day, but both fall short of the glory of God. This is what Jesus looks like to me when I’m lucky enough to catch him out of the corner of my eye. I’ve never seen him in any church, but I find him in the garden.

If the show agrees with scripture, it is true. If not, it is untrue. Haven’t seen the show so I don’t know but I suspect that if it made it to tv it is not to be trusted.
