DEMOCRAT RUN CITIES

“Socialism is a wonderful idea. It is only as a reality that it has been disastrous. Among people of every race, color, and creed, all around the world, socialism has led to hunger in countries that used to have surplus food to export…. Nevertheless, for many of those who deal primarily in ideas, socialism remains an attractive idea — in fact, seductive. Its every failure is explained away as due to the inadequacies of particular leaders. ” Thomas Sowell

Real Socialism

Guest Post by John Stossel

Real Socialism

People hate America’s big disparities in wealth. It’s a reason why, among young people, socialism is as popular as capitalism.

The Democratic Socialists of America want a country based on “freedom, equality and solidarity.” That sure sounds good.

But does socialism bring that?

My new video debunks several myths about socialism.

One reason for socialism’s continued appeal is linguist Noam Chomsky. For generations, his work has taught students that capitalism is “a grotesque catastrophe.”

I assumed the fall of the Soviet Union would put an end to such misinformation.   It did — for about a month.

Why Irrational Socialist Schemes Must be Implemented

Guest Post by Jeff Thomas via International Man

socialist democrats

Traditionally, the Democratic Party in the US has placed its primary focus on the protection of the middle class. But, in recent years, it has taken a sharp turn toward racial identity politics, gender issues, and redistribution of wealth along socialist lines.

John Kennedy is out; Bernie Sanders is in.

Since the 2016 presidential election, this trend has become what can only be termed “rabid.” A new wave of socialistic candidates has been elected who tend to be entirely inexperienced in the political structure and woefully misinformed about what can realistically be achieved. A particular casualty has been basic arithmetic, as the new players toss out increasingly unworkable proposals, most of which are so impossible to fund that a fourth-grader could have worked out the numbers.

Going Where, Exactly?

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

In response to what has become a nation of shameless racketeering, vivid wealth disparity, and shocking destitution on display in city streets, the party of the common man seeks remedies in the redistribution of capital. Seems more than fair to many. It’s not for nothing that they style it “social justice,” the cutting edge of an economic system called socialism — with overtones, of course, of settling racial and gender scores for good measure.

Millennials for Socialism

Guest Post by Walter E. Williams

Millennials for Socialism

If one needed evidence of the gross ignorance of millennials, and their teachers and college professors, it’s their solid support for socialism and socialist presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders. Socialism has produced tragedy wherever it has been implemented. Last year marked the 40th anniversary of nearly 1,000 Americans perishing in a mass suicide/murder in the jungles of Guyana. Just as Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez see socialism as mankind’s salvation, so, too, did Rev. Jim Jones, who told his followers, “God is Socialism, and I am Principle Socialism, and that’s what makes me God.”

QUOTES OF THE DAY

“A managed democracy is a wonderful thing… for the managers… and its greatest strength is a ‘free press’ when ‘free’ is defined as ‘responsible’ and the managers define what is ‘irresponsible’.”

Robert A. Heinlein

“The way to get a maximum rate of ‘economic growth’ assuming this to be our aim – is to give maximum encouragement to production, employment, saving, and investment. And the way to do this is to maintain a free market and a sound currency.”

Henry Hazlitt

“The problem with K-12 education is socialism and the solution is capitalism.”

Peter Brimelow

“No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

James Madison

2020: Socialist America or Trump’s America?

Guest Post by Pat Buchanan

2020: Socialist America or Trump's America?

In the new Democratic Party, where women and people of color are to lead, and the white men are to stand back, the presidential field has begun to sort itself out somewhat problematically.

According to a Real Clear Politics average of five polls between mid-March and April 1, four white men — Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, “Beto” O’Rourke and Pete Buttigieg — have corralled 62 percent of all Democratic voters.

The three white women running — Senators Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Kirsten Gillibrand — have, together, a piddling 8 percent.

The lone Hispanic candidate, Julian Castro, is at 1 percent.

African American candidates Kamala Harris and Cory Booker fare better, with Harris at 10 and Booker at 3.

That’s A Hard Pass On Socialism, Millennial Suckers

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

That’s A Hard Pass On Socialism, Millennial Suckers

While the unkillable ideological cockroach that is socialism seems to be enjoying a resurgence primarily among stupid and/or evil millennials, there are three key groups who will oppose any such transition here in America. There are ex-military folks like me who served in the ruins of socialist countries and saw the way they poison a culture (and literally the land too – socialism is always an environmental atrocity).

There are folks, like my wife, who escaped from murderous socialist hellholes – wear your scummy Che t-shirt around her and she’ll cut you. And then there are the rest of the Normal Americans who are both aware of socialism’s 100 million corpse tally and who don’t particularly want a bunch of aspiring campus Castros taking power and telling bossing them around for eternity.
