Great idea, if you want a restaurant full of the mentally ill. I get a costed by panhandlers and homeless every day. Most are not quite all there. What did someone call this, virtue signaling? I’m a great guy. I care more than you. And when you get hep c, not my fault.

What he’s doing is offering his paying customers the opportunity to kick an extra buck per slice to make “free shit” available for some anonymous other person. Like putting that buck into a charitable contributions jar, but with the fillip of providing that other person with the same food that the giver came in there to enjoy.
Throwing cash money at the charitable organizations which advertise so commonly on TV and on the radio pays for higher and higher levels of overhead, so that very little of what’s contributed ever gets to the beneficiaries for whom the charity is ostensibly being run. On the other hand, every paying customer who walks into this shop KNOWS that nobody can keep a pizzaria operating – especially not in Philly – charging nothing but a buck a slice.
“I’d pay two bucks a slice – or more! – anyplace else,” reasons the walk-in, “and for that same two bucks I get something to eat and I get to buy some other guy (or some mom or one of her kids) a slice, too. Fuck it, here’s the extra buck. “

His customers are the ones really doing it, not him, and from the number of post-its on the wall there seem to be a lot of them doing so.
He’s just the intermediary for them, like the go fund me crowd funding stuff for various causes.
If he doesn’t have a problem with it no one else should. Personally, I find it commendable and much better than some government organization doing it in place of willing private donors.

Jooish fellow figures out how to sell twice the product to his customers, he then gives away food to 40 homeless people when he extracted the extra sale out of one hundred forty people.
He keeps the extra 100 dollars and then takes credit for being a big time humanitarian when HE has paid for nothing and kept the lions share. Thanks should go to the customers who paid to feed the homeless.
