QUOTE OF THE DAY

“An impasse over the federal budget reaches a stalemate. The president and Congress both refuse to back down, triggering a near-total government shutdown. The president declares emergency powers. Congress rescinds his authority. Dollar and bond prices plummet. The president threatens to stop Social Security checks. Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling. Default looms. Wall Street panics.”

Close, but no cigar. As I read the news, most of the guv’ment is still functioning and all the drones are or will be getting paid. What’s shut down is only the pain-to-the-people part like the Washington Mall, national parks, and probably public restrooms. A feckless Congress hasn’t rescinded presidential powers and won’t. John Boehner says the House won’t allow default. So, like I wrote, “Close, but no cigar.

Administrator, the lead quote and your constant drumming has convinced me that you’re likely right about the Fourth Turning analysis. I ordered Strauss and Howe’s book today. Hopefully getting a little more knowledge about the future will be all I need. I really don’t want the fairways of my country club turned into cow pastures and turkey farms to support those of us behind not-at-all-secure gates. Nor do I want to have to set up rifle pits and fields of fire around my house.

Hey Jackson – I need to let you know that your comment on the Stamp Act a while back was incorrect. The British repealed the act due to the fact that the Americans resisted it, threatened the local “officials” and disobeyed the law

The fact that the British ten years later declared war does not make the fact that we need to stand up to the petty tyrants.

The big boy tyrants will take notice, and yes you are correct, they will murder and destroy all they can.

But ’tis better to die standing than to live kneeling.

Its coming.

Hey, taxSlave, you could be right about the Stamp Act. Back in those early days I was getting all my info from CBS, NBC, ABC, our big city newspaper, and a few national magazines. There was no TBP, LewRockwell, ZeroHedge, Veterans’ Today, Rense, or your favorite alternate media sites on the internet. I’m sure I was getting shined on about politics… as I’m sure we all were.
