Heroin Deaths In The U.S. Are Skyrocketing

According to analysis by InsightCrime.org, the DEA has indicated that 50 percent of heroin sold in the US is produced in Mexico, between 43 and 45 percent comes from Colombia, and the rest from Asian countries. Almost all of it is supplied by Mexican cartels. I wonder how many of those illegal immigrants pouring over the border are actually smuggling heroin into the country. I think it might be time for SSS to pony up and get back down to South America and win that War on Drugs.

Deaths from heroin overdoses are skyrocketing in the United States, according to a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Between 2010 and 2013, they nearly tripled. Over 8,200 Americans died from heroin overdoses in 2013, averaging 23 every day.

One possible explanation for the increase in overdoses is the abuse of prescription painkillers. 75 percent of people who started using heroin after 2000 previously abused prescription opioids like oxycodone and fentanyl. Many switched to heroin because it was cheaper, easier to obtain and chemically similar to those opioids.

The death rate for males was nearly four times higher than for females in 2013. Indeed, Britain is experiencing a similar trend in terms of drug poisoning, especially in terms of gender. Men are far more likely to generally take risks than women and are more prone to ignoring the dangers of drug abuse.

People die on heroin because its always of unknown purity. This is why brand name opioid drugs command a premium price on the black market; they’re predictable.

As long as any aspect of the drug market remains illegal, quality control problems will kill people and the illicit market will keep introducing a new crop of people to hard-core criminals year after year. Since association with criminals is an independent risk factor for violent death, the drug war is just the gift that keeps on giving to the entity on the Pale Horse.

Listen not to what people say, watch what they do. Few people actually want to decrease the deaths and social mayhem from illegal drugs. If they did, the USA would follow Portugal’s lead, because Portugal decriminalized all drugs and the sky has not otherwise fallen.

Did my part. Member of the teams that nailed Pablo Escobar (head of the Medellin Cartel), arrested ALL of the leaders of the Cali Cartel, and the head of the Northern Valle Cartel. Wiped out the Cali Cartel’s operations in Panama and Ecuador. Destroyed the leader of the Northern Valley Cartel’s investments in south Florida ($25 million forfeited to the US Treasury).

Despite Richard Nixon’s long ago statement of a War on Drugs, there is no such thing. It’s political bullshit that the left and right mock, as they should. It is akin to saying we are launching a War on Murder. How’s that EVER gonna work out?

I was involved in that dangerous shit until I was almost 60 and running out of gas. Right now I need to work on my chipping and putting, thank you.

Two hungry mountain lions were out foraging for food one day when they spotted a CIA agent walking down the road. He’s mine said the young one and let out a shriek and knocked him down and proceeded to devour him.

He came back to the old lion and said, “There was nothing to eat!”

“Of course not.” said the old lion, “You did two things wrong, when you let out the shriek you scared the shit out of him and when you knocked him to the ground you knocked the wind out of him. When you do that to a CIA agent, as you discovered, there’s nothing left.”

22 year-old woman died of a heroin overdose in Admin’s neck of the woods, then her 9-month old son died of starvation.

MILLVALE, Pa. — Police are investigating the death of a woman and her 9-month-old baby boy found inside a Millvale apartment Friday morning.

Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski learned that 22-year-old Sara Kessler and her child, Casey Kessler, were found by a relative, who had not heard from his sister in a week, at the Krismor apartment complex on Butler Street.

Allegheny County Police Assistant Superintendent Jim Morton said the mother died first, and that the baby likely starved to death.

“It seems like he tried to survive for a while, but there was no food to have so,” said Morton.

Sara Kessler was found lying on a bed, according to police. Her baby was found in the apartment’s living room.

Police said both bodies may have been in the apartment for more than a week.

Police said foul play is not suspected in the mother and child’s deaths. Autopsies will be performed.

Three healthy-looking house cats were also found in the second floor apartment.

Police said the animals may have survived because of an automatic feeder.

The medical examiner said Monday that it will likely be three weeks before an official cause of death for the mother and child will be known.

In the meantime, a memorial continues to grow outside of the Krismor apartment complex.

And we won. No, we didn’t win the impossible War on Drugs, just the war against the dirtbags we were going after. Poof. And they’re gone. Just like the War on the Mafia. Is that gone? No. Is it less powerful today? Probably. But it’s still there.

Sensetti, I’m not real libertarian on this, I’ve seen too much destruction. Drugs destroy individuals sure, and I get the darwin angle. But they also destroy families , businesses, communities, institutions. Look at NBC. I’m not a fan of the open ended, thoroughly corrupted ‘war on drugs’. It certainly has become everything you think it is, and you don’t know the half of it. But this stuff came later. The columbians, unlike the present day mexicans, were truly out of control gangsters, and brought that reality to where I lived.

Think cocaine has helped the neegrow? You must not know any neegrows. Legality has nothing to do with it. You think deaths would be prevented by legalizing heroin? Oxycontin was semi-legal for a while. In short order there were more pill mills than grocery stores in broward county, and beggars became part of my daily life. Drugs are for losers. Defending drugs is a badly thought out position.

The war on drugs got co-opted for sure. Asset seizures, no knock searches, a great big market for billions in para-military hardware. All that is bad enough. But the real corruption is narco dollars as foreign exchange. Miami in the 80’s was swimming in cash. I used to deliver checks for processing to the fed on 36th st. They would be loading palletized cash into semis to send to atlanta. All drug money.

USDA killed the lime and avocado businesses in dade county by diagnosing mystery diseases and ordering the groves destroyed. We used to supply the whole country. The mexican cartels were allowed to exist, because to a globalist they served a valuable function, moving massive amounts of american money into mexico voluntarily. The state department spent the last couple of years trying, with some success, to persuade the cartel money to buy into the legit lime and avocado businesses. Why? Big change on the horizon. The legalization of marijuana in colorado and washington.

The Only Thing Worse Than Legal Heroin Is Illegal Heroin

Years of reporting in Pacific Standard have led us to one conclusion: Decriminalizing drug use will save money—and lives.

“In Portugal, five years of decriminalization have led not to drug tourists in Lisbon but a decline in the use of almost every drug but marijuana. Heroin use in America went up during the same period — precisely because some of those poppies from Afghanistan have found their way across the ocean.”

Last year alone, McCain “distinguished” himself by being photographed with both Islamist extremists in Syria and neo-Nazis in Ukraine. His hat trick should really call into question his claimed expertise in foreign policy matters.

So is it just the incompetence of the Senator and/or his staff that keeps leading him to such embarrassing photo-ops? Perhaps the Senator is just that easy to hoodwink with a few well-rehearsed lines about love of democracy, apple pie, tolerance, and puppy dogs?

That SSS will someday go to his maker convinced of the holiness of his crusade is hardly surprising.

Few people can confront that their lives (occupationally) were spent in an inversion of the good they believed they did.

Do you think you’ll find a chest surgeon who spent his career doing CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) who realizes it was a complete waste of time (or clearly harmful, and massively costly)?

People immersed in a Narrative lose all objectivity. The worst of all are those whose actions directly or indirectly resulted in the destruction of others’ lives. The odds of them realizing they were the PROBLEM, not the solution, are absolutely zero because to confront the truth would destroy their identity.
