“Payback’s a Bitch”: Rural Wisdom and the Gathering Storm

Guest Post by Fred Reed

ConFlag

The furor over the Confederate flag, think I, has little to do with the Confederate flag, which is a pretext, an uninvolved bystander. Rather it is about a seething anger in the United States that we must not mention. It is the anger of people who see everything they are and believe under attack by people they aren’t and do not want to be—their heritage, their religion, their values and way of life all mocked and even made criminal.

The talking heads inside Washington’s beltway, in editorial suites in New York, do not know of this anger. They do not talk to people in Joe’s Bar in Chicago or in barbecue joints in Wheeling. They are cloistered, smug, sure of themselves. And they are asking for it.

We are dealing with things visceral, not rational. Confusing the two is dangerous. Hatreds can boil over as syllogisms cannot. The banning of the flag infuriates, for example, me. Why? Although a Southerner by raising, I would far prefer to live in New York City than in Memphis. Yet I value my boyhood in Virginia and Alabama. My ancestors go back to the house of Burgesses, and I remember long slow summer days on the Rappahannock and in the limestone of Athens, Alabama.

When the federal government and the talking heads want to ban my past—here, permit me to exit momentarily the fraudulent objectivity of literature—I hate the sonsofbitches.

A lot of people quietly hate the sonsofbitches.

To them, to us, the Confederate flag stands for resistance to control from afar, to meddling and instruction from people we detest. It is the flag of “Leave me the hell alone.” And this Washington, Boston, and New York will…not…do.

A surprise may be coming.

What is the anger about? Most visibly, but far from uniquely, race: the illegals, the Knock-Out game, and Washington’s protection of both. The racial hostility that pervades the country today is largely the doing of the talking heads and its perverse social policies. The rancor is unlike anything I have seen.

Curious. When I was a lad ages ago, I thought well of Brown vs. the School board. Southerners said that integration would never work and they were right, but what came before was just wrong. I thought so then, and I think so now. I favored the civil-rights acts. I reluctantly favored affirmative action (I was very young) thinking it meant a hand up instead of an entitlement. I wrote hopefully of the prospect of educating blacks.

But look what happened. We now see forced hiring of the incompetent as a right, endless accounts of blacks destroying shopping malls, burning cities, brutally attacking whites in gangs, and the giving to blacks of anything they want because they are black. You don’t like the Confederate flag, Jesse? Why then, it must go. Whatever you say, Jesse.

It wasn’t this way, but it is now. It is getting worse. But there is far more than race.  We now are compelled to live in a national sexual-freak show. Day after day after day the media are full of trans-this and trans-that, of homosexual marriages, all thrust in our faces, a parade of prancing peculiarities demanding and demanding and demanding. People who dare not say so are sick of it.

It isn’t viciousness. I don’t know anyone who wants to persecute the erotically baroque. Poofters in particular are usually bright, productive, decent people, and do not attack whites in wheel chairs with hammers. Yet I weary of their endless tedious concerns. I say, go. Go with God, but for God’s sake go. Or just shut up. That would do as well.

I, we, will be told, “But Fred, homosexuality is natural.” So is hemorrhagic tuberculosis. So is sadism. So is genocide.

Any sexual predilection can be called natural, and arguments can be made for all of them: Polygamy, or marriage with a sheep, or copulating on a public bus, or sex with girls of nine years. (How about, “Sex is natural. Children are erotic: Don’t they play doctor? Little girls are only afraid of it because of puritanical conditioning by society. Oral sex feels good, and adults do it, so why not…? Why shouldn’t her father gently teach her….” And so on.)

And crime is out of control, protected by a President and Attorney General with whom we, so many Americans,  have nothing in common, who dislike us,  and who want to disarm us and flood our country with illegal and incompatible aliens.

Do  you think that wanting a gun is silly? Last week I started getting emails: “Chuck got shot.” On Breitbart I found that Chuck De Caro, a journalist and friend for so long that I forget how I met him, had checked into a motel in Albuquerque with his wife, whereupon an armed dirtbag tried to rob them and perhaps worse. I suppose that a white couple in their sixties must have seemed a soft target. Oops. It wasn’t a swell career move. Chuck is ex-Special Forces and a longtime war corresponden. Threatening his wife doesn’t fly well with him.

Anyway, Chuck apparently had other ideas about being robbed and perhaps killed.  He also had a handgun. In the ensuing gunfight, he was hit several times and rushed to the hospital. Chuck will be okay, the dirtbag less so. He escaped to the parking lot, where he decided to lie down and bleed to death. A good choice. The news stories didn’t describe the perp, which meant…. Decaro

This gem, Tomorio Walton, is, or was, a career criminal and was, of course, on parole. Can you guess why so many of us want guns and carry permits? Characteristically I had to find the photo in  the Mail Online, an English paper.

Then there is the de-Christianizing of the country. Religion, both historically and currently, is a potent thing. Play with it at your risk. It is not always  really a matter of religion. Many of us, I among them, are not believers but value Christmas and its traditions. But no. We must not have nativity scenes or sing Christmas carols on public streets. Easter-egg hunts are unconstitutional. Mommy Washington doesn’t like them, and we have to do what Washington says.

Unless, of course, one day we don’t.

We are winding a spring.

bloody-beatdown

Standard beatdown of white man by black mob at Fourth of July in Cincinnati. Almost a daily occurence. The media will hide it. This is not a part of my culture. Why do we put up with it?

Stoking the flames under the pressure cooker is the unending, ever-tightening control of every aspect of life by Washington. People inside the city’s beltway, a venue I know well, do not understand what they are playing with. They are sure that they know best, and they are going to make us toe the line.

Federal bureaucrats  tell people in Casper, Laredo, and Knoxville what they can and cannot teach their children in the schools, what religious practices they may have and what their children may eat. They set curricula, determine to whom bakeries must sell cakes, decide who can marry what, and with whom we must associate.

I could go on. There is quiet fury about open borders, the forced acceptance of criminal aliens, of 100,000 Somalis by Minnesota, the endless wars, the declining standard of living, the insane censorship (say “nigger” and your career of thirty years ends) and the ungodly surveillance. Washington pushes, pushes, and pushes, thinking that with just enough pressure, we will all come to kowtow.

What if one day we don’t?

And there is governmental corruption, the sense—“realization,” I would say—that Washington is entirely in the hands of the arms manufacturers, of the Israeli lobby, of big pharma and ethnic lobbies and, well, anyone who bribes Congress. Elections are a sham, serving only to decide the division of the spoils for eight years. All decisions of importance are carefully kept out of the public’s hands.

Maybe Washington will always get away with it. Maybe it won’t. White Americans are an obedient and passive people, easily cowed, but maybe enough will prove enough. Maybe things will blow. Maybe jurisdictions will just ignore the feds, as begins to happen.

But it is dangerous. The economy declines, people out of college can’t get jobs, the ghettoes simmer, automation surges across the board, and one day soon we will have cutbacks in the entitlements. When groups begin competing for dwindling resources, things will get ugly. It could explode. It really could. You might be surprised how many people out there think, “Bring it on.” Not a good idea, but we go that way.

Tick Tick. Tick.

‘The greatest generation’ included patriots who believed everything the lying zionists told them in the news: just like every other generation of serfs in all of history, just like today. Blaming pawns instead of the hand which moves them sounds like tunnel vision. Goering told all with his line about “how all governments wave the flag, find scapegoats, and incite a patriotic fervor” to get their citizens to wage war. Rabbis confess that “Freemasonry is a wholly Jewish construct.”; have you seen the paintings of Washington’s swearing in ceremony? Fascinating regalia. Check out Albert Pike’s 1890s ‘illuminated’ prophecy of three world wars in the next hundred or so years. There is all of fallen mankind and the Father of Lies responsible for the misery in this world.

I am in rural Australia. Guns are highly restricted, but everyone around me has a complete arsenal. It sounds like a shooting range around here on weekends. Everyone gets together and start blasting away. Only a couple of pistols, no semiautos, but everything else goes.

Country folk here are like countryfolk in the US.

Fred writes, “Southerners said that integration would never work and they were right,”

I have to disagree with this. The fact is that integration has never worked only in the non-southern states. How many race riots have occurred in the South? None that I can think of, unless you count Miami in the south. You don’t see the knock out game in east Texas, Alabama or Mississippi. What you see in the South are church going, peaceful black people, like those who were recently murdered by a deranged white kid in South Carolina, who just want to raise their kids and worship their lord.

Black lives matter, as long as they are petty criminals being murdered by cops in Northeastern cities. Black lives aren’t worth a fuck when they are being extinguished by other blacks in Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore, St.Louis, Camden NJ or any other northern rust belt shithole. In the southern states, the vast majority of blacks aren’t on section 8, food stamp or welfare. Their families are intact and they just want to raise their kids to hopefully do better then they have.

Why do you think SEC college football often produces champions? Sure it is partly the fans and the money, but it is also the black parents who nurture their kids and make it clear to them that they will face the wrath of God if they fuck up…ask any college football coach.

Gayle says:
“I’ve been wondering for quite a while why a leader doesn’t emerge who can capture the fury that is building among the Freds”

Personally I think it’s because no sane person would be willing to destroy their lives and careers or those of their friends and family by running the gauntlet of progtard morons masquerading as “journalists” for the bought and paid for leftist MSM in a Presidential campaign. Call me jaded but even if the perfect candidate emerged and began to look like a real contender, there would be a horrible and tragic accident outside of Anytown, USA involving their campaign bus and a tall cliff or fire. Our owners would then organize faux nationwide memorials, flags at half staff and other shiny distractions before getting back to the program as planned several years ago.

I think that if anything resembling a peaceful transition back to sanity materializes it will come from all the Fed Up Freds protesting simultaneously across this formerly great country. It will likely have to accompany something like a nationwide truckers strike or something similar to get the oligarchs attention. It will have to be absolutely unrelenting in demanding accountability but…………I’m just dreaming.

Why Rand Paul Lost My Vote
Jul. 9, 2015 11:00am
Scott Morefield

No matter how you slice it, the fact remains that this Stalinesque push to remove any vestiges of those “evil” Confederates is bound to alienate a significant percentage of the very voters Rand Paul should be able to count on as his base. So, when Rand adds his voice to the commissars, those of us in Southern flyover country to whom that flag represents the honor of thousands of Americans who fought and died for their homeland, not slavery, bristle just a little. We care about a lot of things, including getting along with folks of all races, but we don’t give two hoots about what the “beltway” says is politically-correct.

GOPES!

The NeoCons’ Confederate Problem—and America’s

Since the Charleston shootings, GOP officials have been scrambling to comply with Leftist demands that Southern Whites be stripped of visible signs of their Confederate heritage. The GOP has actually been downplaying the Confederacy for years—Jeb Bush conspicuously removed Confederate banners and insignias from the Florida statehouse back in 2001. [Jeb Bush Ordered The Confederate Flag Removed From Florida Capitol 14 Years Ago, By Scott Conroy,Huffingtonpost.Com, June 19, 2015] (But the GOP’s efforts to dump the Mississippi state flag i ncluding the Southern Cross were frustrated when a majority of the population, including almost a quarter of the black population, voted to retain it).

Party operatives are stupid enough to believe that black votes are there for the taking if they run down the Confederacy ferociously enough; and that white Southerners will remain Republican no matter what. Plus of course the GOP’s whorish Big Business backers have capitulated, as when they withdrew support from the Boy Scouts of America for not accepting openly homosexual scoutmasters. But it is not so much blacks who seem offended by the Battle Flag(in South Carolina as much as 40% of the black inhabitants are content to leave it at the Capitol) as it is the national Main Stream Media—and above all the neoconservatives.

Neoconservatives have long stood out from other Republicans and members of Conservatism Inc. by virtue of the intensity of their loathing for the white South. And, as I demonstrate in my books on the American Conservative Movement, they have an almost total lock on the Conservative Establishment. The funding, media access, and all the leading publications of the movement are now controlled by neoconservatives. Other branches of conservatism survive, but they are either marginalized, like paleoconservatism, or merely tolerated dissent, like the Catholic Straussians and the socially leftist Libertarians—especially the ones, like the Randians, who vociferously support Israel.

Although neoconservative anti-Christian broadsides continued through the 1980s, with such Commentary contributors as Ruth Wisse and Hyam Maccoby, the Christian enemy took a back seat to other bêtes noires after the neoconservatives began to cultivate the Religious Right as part of a pro-Israel alliance.

But the neoconservatives were still in the forefront of South-bashing for decades, from their organized defamation of Mel Bradford, the conservative Southern candidate for the directorship of the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1981, through the crusade to remove Mississippian Senate Majority leader Trent Lott in 2002 after he had too fulsomely praised (former segregationist, former Democrat) South Carolina senator Strom Thurmond on his hundredth birthday, to the bile they are now pouring on the already-isolated defenders of the Southern cause.

It would be nice if that Baldwin piece came with citations – I have a few peeps who will use the lack of citations to disregard most if not all of the content.

But I do appreciate his comparison of the original 13 colonies desire for independence with the South’s – I had never looked at it from that standpoint and yet it seems so obvious.

I would like to see some properly cited works examining the tariff and taxation issues he mentions.

The North’s Southern Cash Cow
http://www.chroniclesmagazine.org/2013/June/37/6/magazine/article/12309/

On December 10, 1860, an editorial in the Daily Chicago Times affirmed that,

With her immense staples, [the South] has furnished near three-fourths of the entire exports of the country. Last year she furnished seventy-two per cent. of the whole . . . It is almost impossible to estimate the amount of money realized yearly out of the South by the North. It, beyond all question, amounts to hundreds of millions. By the present arrangement, also, we have a tariff that protects our manufacturers from thirty to fifty percent, and enables us to consume large quantities of Southern cotton, and to compete in our whole home market with the skilled labor of Europe. This operates to compel the South to pay an indirect bounty to our skilled labor, of millions annually. The result would follow any tariff, for revenue or otherwise.

By a percentage of the population blacks make up a greater percentage of the welfare rolls than any other race. @flash- just another way rand Paul is such a disappointment. As I’ve said before, I don’t think the Republican Party will ever win another national election without the Ron Paul supporters, and rand is losing us left and right. I left him a long time ago when he went back pretty much everything good he ever said( the foreign aid thing “I never said that, of course we should give aid to isreal” was the final straw for me). A lot of RP supporters didn’t vote, a lot voted for Gary Johnson, and no one even knows how many wrote him in on the ballot. Even if rand gets the nomination, he has alienated so many of his fathers supporters that he won’t get any more libertarian voters than Jeb bush

Why do some here get to define the Confederate Flag as “what it means to me” then? Since most here are angry Conservatives men for the family values of the 1950’s it safe to say you would take serious offence to a man were a pink shirt. You would not listen to him if he were to state that notion that pink didn’t become an unmanly colour until around the WW2 era because the Nazis made gays were pink triangles or that he cites a old-timey magazine that suggests blue is for baby girls and pink is for baby boys because pink is a derivative of red and red is a manly colour. No you would say men don’t wear pink because that’s what your culture has defined in the here and now and what other times and cultures thought doesn’t matter – he better lose the pink shirt or get beat up for being provocative fruit. Likewise free feel to wave a Confederate flag in front of Black people and talk about how it represents freedom not slavery. Judging from one internet video it didn’t end well.

“Likewise free feel to wave a Confederate flag in front of Black people and talk about how it represents freedom not slavery.” ————- Gil

Your pink-shirt analogy is just terrible because it misses the point … just as your above quote does.

Your statement above is one of PERCEPTIONS. In that regard, I am 100% certain that a vast majority of blacks PERCEIVE that flag to represent slavery. And if you’re in the group that believes “perception is reality”, then perhaps you would have a legitimate argument.

But, I think reality is reality. In other words, check out the Chuck Balwin’s article in the thread “Raising the Confederate flag.” In your world of perceptions you simply and conveniently want to ignore truth.

And where does it stop??? Do you really want to give in to everything that “offends” the black race? If so, you’ll soon discover that you have no liberties left whatsoever.

Administrator – you can wear a shirt with a Nazi flag on it however you don’t get to define what that symbol means for others let alone whether other people can get offended or not. After all, the swastika was a symbol of peace for the longest time.

In the case of the Confederate flag the government has no business flying flags other than the official flags they are a part of. Flying custom flags are for private individuals.

@RiseUp I’m only 5 minutes between Route 50 and Route 7. I love the drive through Upperville, Middleburg, and Aldie on Route 50 to Northern Virginia. It’s nice to be an hour from the amenities of the DC Metro region, but I’m always glad to return to normalcy after a day out shopping and eating. You’re spot on about Frederick, Maryland having a nice downtown and also being highly liberal. The drive on I-70 between Hagerstown and Frederick is one of the prettiest stretches of Maryland. You think you’re in the South, albeit with a different set of ideals once you talk to the locals. However, I was in Sharpsburg, Maryland the other day and saw a large Confederate flag flying on the local bar and it made me smile.

Gil, if you are in that group it means your liberal controlled, public education system utopia failed to teach you the truth. Don’t feel bad though. it failed almost everyone. That was by design though because our owners do not want citizens who are capable of discerning the truth for themselves. If you have the ability to do basic research you can seek out truthful (verifiable) information on virtually any topic and then make reasoned decisions for yourself. Our owners seek to divide us so that they can steal more of our freedom (power) and hard earned money to enrich themselves while we argue about lies like the Confederate Flag. No one asks me if it’s okay to indebt me, my children, my children’s children ad infinitum, in order to bailout elitist assholes, fund massive welfare programs for a swath of society generationally addicted to an entitlement mindset, and fund wars that enrich the few while bankrupting the country.

I’m not demanding the removal of any flags, symbols, monuments, passages, etc., from anything and yet to top it all off, I’m now told symbols that for me represent a mindset of independence have to go.

Really? Here’s the rub. Had the South simply held off the North to a stalemate, what would have been the outcome? How much of the North’s revenue was generated by the South? If you’re not aware it was upwards of 70%. I can damn-well guarantee you that had the South simply acquiesced to paying the heavy tariffs demanded of it, the North would not have said one damned word about “where” the money came from or “how” it was generated. See Lincoln’s address in the Douglas debates, among many other references, for some idea of his mindset on the issue of blacks. Short answer: He. Did. Not. Care. What he did care about was ensuring the flow of funds from the South to pay for running the country.

When The Civil War broke out, the early years didn’t go well for the North. Lincoln desperately needed a moral cause to fire up and unite the northern populace, and he found it in slavery. It was a convenient subject that fit his needs at the time, not a subject he had previously contemplated with any deep conviction. Again, read the objective reference material, not the revisionist history promulgated for public consumption.

What would happen today if those whose taxes fund the vast majority of this country simply said, “Fuck it. No more. No more money from me to fund the insane, punitive and perverse nature of federal government spending.”? Sound familiar?

This is the REAL reason behind “why” The Powers That Be want the Confederate flag removed. It symbolizes a mindset of independence, a mindset that scares the shit out of liberal, statist elites. In their eyes it’s a mindset that must be eradicated along with any vestiges of its origins, as it threatens their vested interests, foremost of which is retaining power by keeping the masses dependent upon them. Take away the tax revenues and there’s no way to fund the Bread & Circuses, and share the swag with your corporate cronies.

How do you eradicate symbols that threaten without being overtly seen to do so? Easy, you pit one side against the other and tie the side you want defeated to an “immoral cause.” Here’s where the ultimate irony comes in – instead of “abolishing slavery,” it’s now about ensuring that a productive class of folks continue to be enslaved via taxation so the benefits of their labors can be used to fund the statist elites’ manipulation of the masses (corporate at one end, and the “downtrodden” at the other) with entitlements, and thereby retain power.

Gee. Where have we seen this before? Yup, with Lincoln and his hypocritical use of the “slavery” argument. Again, with 70% of Union revenue flowing from the South, does anyone really believe slavery would have been an issue had these revenues continued unabated? Would Lincoln, given all that’s been recorded regarding his views on blacks, have valued freeing blacks worth risking more than 2/3’s of the nation’s revenue and potentially permanently dividing the country in half? Do you think the elitists of his day, the enormously rich and influential Northern merchants of industry and commerce would have stood idly by and let him?

By the way, if you think immigration is about providing “opportunity for the downtrodden,” you’ve got the looking-glass backwards. It’s about swelling the ranks of the dependent so government can extract even greater swag from the productive classes, and again, retain political control.
Newsflash: This government doesn’t care anymore about minorities, gays, trans-genders, or any other “disenfranchised group,” or anyone else for that matter, than Lincoln did of slaves. It’s about power. It’s about retaining that power, and it’s all about the means-to-the-end, extracting wealth to stay in power. It’s damned sure not about the “Unicorn & Rainbows” or “Hope & Change” bullshit the government wants the masses to believe in.

For those who believe otherwise, keep on believing. You’re in for one helluva a shock.

As usual, Fred hit the nail on the head. It should be obvious to any person with a mind that the country is drifting towards open conflict. Whether you are of the “Bring it on!” camp or not is irrelevant. What will happen will happen.

We will all have to pick one side or the other. When you do you – and I assume almost all of the people reading this will pick the side of the American people against the Domestic Enemy – be prepared to harden your hearts. Ties of friendship and kinship, compassion, empathy and the concept of fairness and mercy must go out the window. This struggle will decide whether America lives or dies. When it is over either we will have lost our country and most likely our lives or we will have regained everything we have lost. If we win, and I believe we will, there can be no half measures. Even if a third of the population must be driven into exile so be it. And the ringleaders must hang, period.

In 1780 a British Army major, Patrick Ferguson, raised a large force of Tories and led them into the back country of South Carolina determined to crush the American rebellion. The American response was swift and utterly decisive. On top of King’s Mountain Ferguson was riddled with bullets and the legends say that the Patriot leaders pissed on his corpse for his arrogance and cruelty. As for the surviving Tories – virtually every one a native-born American – they were led off beyond rescue by the British.

The next night court was held by torchlight under a huge oak tree. Thousands of Patriots and their families watched as the Tory leaders were hanged. The families of these unfortunates begged and pleaded but the demands of war were clear. The Tory movement collapsed almost overnight and King’s Mountain was the first real step on the road to Yorktown.

When the crisis comes and we are forced by the Domestic Enemy to fight, remember King’s Mountain.

One day in the not too far distant future American patriots will be murdered by agents of this illegitimate government for reasons of religion or, perhaps, flying a flag that means as much to them as the Stars and Stripes. They may take some of the killers with them and the fight will be on.

I personally believe that the looming financial catastrophe will prepare the ground for what is coming but history shows us the exact moment when the wheel begins to turn or why can’t be predicted.

Prepare yourselves. Break all relations with your liberal and “Progressive” “friends” or relatives. They are not your friends but your mortal enemies. Stop trying to bridge the racial gap. That is a fool’s errand. Adopt a position of cold hatred towards the other side. Believe me, it will be better and easier in the end. Give up any idea that we can find “common ground” or “settle our differences”. If you hear “conservative leaders” spewing such nonsense mark them well. The are a greater danger than the declared Domestic Enemy.

One side or the other will win this contest and the losing side will lose all. Don’t forget it.

Terrific post ! Really. Very very difficult to do.

You said —- “Prepare yourselves. Break all relations with your liberal and “Progressive” “friends” or relatives. They are not your friends but your mortal enemies.”

My seester and hubby are two-time libtard Obama voters. Yet, I can NOT hate her. I can NOT consider her a “mortal enemy”. She’s family … and my family is very very few in number. I just can’t write her off because of politics. Blood IS thicker than water … for me.

Maybe I’m just not ready for the type of revolution you speak of. I’m sorry about that. Maybe it will be ME that gets shot. That’s OK. I’d just as soon die before I hate my family.

For me, the Confederate flag is a message to the feds and anyone else who
wants to try and run my life to Get.Off.My.Lawn. That’s all. So where’s the problem?

Seething anger, Fred says? Oh yeah…..

Our country is being destroyed, bit by bit and it is escalating rapidly. Who can’t see that it is intentional? Barack clearly said what he would do if elected president. His time is growing short. What about ‘fundamentally change America’ did we not understand?

Gil, your owners….our owners….create this constant state of faux division among us sheep to keep you….us….from knowing about the myriad ways THEY are fucking ALL OF US. The Confederate Flag bullshit is just another thing for the ignorant sheep to focus on and direct their ire towards so that our focus and ire NEVER falls on our true COMMON enemies.

Are you so fucking blinded and ignorant that you truly believe that getting rid of the Confederate Flag is going to make race relations better? Does every black person suddenly love whitey now that the flag has been taken down over SC?

Like I asked previously, did you notice that the TPP was passed just as the Confederate Flag bullshit approached full boil? Do you have any idea how bad the TPP is going to fuck you, your children and grandchildren? Do you know it was negotiated in secret and that like ObammyCare which grows worse everyday, we, the people were not allowed to know what was in it until we passed it? Do you even care or do you just trust the politician du jour to decide what is best for you? Do you even have a representative govt anymore if you are not even allowed to know what is in the bills being voted on and signed into law? Do you even care? Would you have the same trust of republicans? Our owners are stealing our rights, freedom and liberty from ALL of us while the sheep argue over gay marriage, flags, healthcare and every other outrage of the day.

FWIW, the Confederate Flag means fuck all to me. My family, both sides, came to the USA after the Civil War. However, I have the ability to read and educate myself enough to know that the bullshit be spouted by the bleeding hearts is just that.

There will come a day in this country when all that will matter, regardless of race, sexual orientation or religion, is whether you’re capable of pulling your own load. It won’t be about former social position, it won’t be about preferences, who you are, or who you know. It’ll come down to whether you’re mindset is strong enough to enable you to adapt. It’s not those who are strongest nor those who are brightest, it’s those best able to adapt that survive. Granted, being strong and bright at the outset isn’t a bad combination…

What’s completely ass-backwards about our government and culture is that we’ve allowed it to stray so far from the ideal of individual self-reliance and accountability that we’ve set ourselves up for a world of hurt when the real pain comes. Envision hurricane Katrina spread large. Under these circumstance does anyone really believe expecting handouts is going to cut it? If you’re completely dependent on federal handouts who are you going to call when the payments stop coming in, or don’t provide even the most meager of benefits for daily survival?

Cheap energy has enabled the world to make demands of everyday life that no one could have dreamed of, nor would have dared making, 150 years ago. We’ve become a caterwauling, emotionally-stunted and functionally immature culture, demanding attention, recognition, even respect for doing nothing more than being able to fog a mirror. Somewhere along the way the message that “respect is earned” got left by the wayside. Those days are numbered.

If you want to prance down the street in multicolored hair, wear gang-banger gear like an over-sized child, or make ludicrous, trivial demands that the world recognize your every fetish or pet-peeve, have at it. But when the music stops you can be guaranteed of one thing: unless you’re capable of functioning in some capacity as a contributing member of society, someone willing to pull their own weight and be self-reliant, then the world won’t give a rat’s ass what happens to you. Period. Nature doesn’t discriminate. There’s no such thing as a “free ride.” You either earn your survival or you perish. Very simple, really.

Moving forward there will predominantly be two camps. Those who have the mindset of coming together to be interdependent, willing to exert themselves to form a cohesive, functioning society, implicitly built on self-respect and accountability, and those whose reactionary mindset will have them fighting amongst themselves in a desperate bid for sustaining an ever-shrinking pool of entitlements. The liberal mentality predominates here and it is here that it will, perhaps, finally grasp why it has been wrong from the outset. There is not now nor has there ever been a sustainable system based on “something for nothing.” Such a system, in this universe at least, doesn’t exist.

The fatal mistake liberals make is in believing there’s no limit to the demands they can place on the system. There is and we’re rapidly approaching critical mass.

While a Yankee as a matter of geographical happenstance I am a Southerner at heart. I just want to be left alone to live my life. As noted.. that is less and less being allowed. A couple of years back I started tracking states pushing back. Looks like the Old Confederacy, all the plains and most of the midwestern states. Looking deeper.. its gonna be the urban centers vs. the rurual areas. I suspect most in urban centers have no idea how long a city and survive cut off from the country. I have never owned anything with the Stars and Bars.. until this latest stupidity started. It is now right next to my Gadsden flag.

@Backtable – Terrific comment all around. I do not disagree with a single word. I will go you one better and suggest that most people are happiest, most fulfilled, when they are independent, self-reliant, pulling their own weight, whatever you wish to call it. The issue is that cheap energy has robbed us of the necessity of being self-reliant. It is a very difficult choice to be self-reliant when it is so easy, so prevalent and there is so much cultural pressure NOT to be.
