Wife and I decided to camp in a campground this weekend.

My god, it’s golf cart heaven, doesn’t anybody walk anymore, even kids? According to the Heart app on my phone we walked 6.3 miles today.

I understand that some people in their 60’s and 70’s can exercise and perform better and amaze 20ish youngsters at the workout centers. I also understand that some people that have been thin or normal in weight can be affected by prescribed drugs and turn into blimps. Concentrate on ‘some’.

For most people, I do not understand how they can become blimps.

Last year, I was a victim of a Lyme tick. Thought it was Flu – sleeping at night, I would wake up and from my waist up the entire sheets were soaked, for 4 nights. Went to clinic, took the pill and was OK. But I lost 7 lbs in 4 days and have continued to lose weight. Started about 168 lb and am now 157 lbs. Both clinic and VA doctors know about the weight loss.

Maybe they should administer Lyme Ticks to all the obese instead of scooters.

General comment.. The picture reflects both the good and bad of human nature. It shows the lengths people will go to in order to overcome difficulty. A mechanical marvel that, in turn, relieves the users of the mental discipline and physical effort necessary to solve the problem their mechanical marvel handles for them.

I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and walk at speed 2 miles a day – not to build muscles – but to stay in condition and continue to function. I weight less than I did in high school . I’ll be starting my 80th year this January 1st., and intend to go out at full speed, chased by a least one woman (maybe, with luck, PJ or TE – or both??) and leave skid marks on the pavement in the process.

I recently had my chemo port removed (after a 20 year struggle with leukemia and lymphoma) as the Doc’s have told me they can find nothing else to treat me for. For the moment, I’m cancer free. For the moment as with age, something else will surely wear out or break. I am also firmly convinced (with no proof) that getting off excess weight and years of conditioning work contributed to getting well and staying that way. None of us get out of here alive but I’d like to stick around a bit longer just to see what happens as we fumble on down the road.

Sorry – that’s “79th year”, not 80. No need to hurry it along.

Fame-broiled is better: get’s more of the grease out. And I’m not talking about burgers.

Okay, age is catching up with me too! That’s “FLAME-broiled” and “gets”.

Speaking of age, MA, if your Jan b’day is 79, you will indeed be beginning your 80th year. I have 69 coming up very soon and am encouraged by gents like you. Keep on truckin’!
