Miles wide but molecule deep: This is the kind of social world people now consider normal in this “social media” dominated world.
The list of modern vices just keeps growing:
– continuous texting/tweeting/facebooking destroys marriages and families.
– ubiquitous porn provides a false outlet for male sex drive at a time when young women have been unleashed by “feminism” and “grrl power” to believe dominance in relationships is a worthy goal.
– gambling, once confined to Las Vegas, is now *everywhere,* with the state government pushing it like mad because they get a cut.
Alienation. Loneliness. Depression. These are predictable results of encouraging people to eschew partnership, cooperation and emotional intimacy in favor of hedonism and power-relationships.

Solitude: When I used to drive for a living. Not silent at all.
Silence: when wearing both ear plugs and muffs, I’m at the range alone and am reloading a magazine.

I’m a consultant, in various warehouses, all the time……
I swear that 90% of these guy’s spend most of their time on fantasy football – on their 4G phones.
I would estimate the cost of fantasy football at least to be $250,000,000,000 in lost productivity.

I never turn on the radio in my car as I use that time for silence to commune with God. It is important to let your maker put the proper thoughts into your mind for balance of the mind, body and soul.

Silence is the absence of human generated sound in my estimation.
It’s harder and harder to find. Even out in the middle of nowhere you hear ATV’s, chainsaws, airplanes etc. One day I was out camping between two crystal clear alpine lakes and I hear the sound of a a helicopter approaching. A minute or so later a big Chinook comes over carrying a large (longer than the Chinook) submarine. Not in a million years would I have expected to see that at 6800ft in the Rockies.

IS ,you are a wonderment .You do realize at 6800 feet your brain is already being derived of oxygen. You could have been hallucinating .
