WHAT A F**KING JOKE

This is the shit we have our government leaders, court system, and “religious leaders”, aka Muslims and Jews at the ACLU, fighting over??? A tiny cross on a Mission on a County Seal that no one gives a shit about??? As if anyone’s rights have been destroyed by the tiny historically accurate cross. This is another example of trying to rewrite history, as California was settled by Franciscan missionaries from Spain and the Mission which is pictured has a cross on top. This country is a fucking joke. The morons who occupy elected office are a joke. The judicial system is a joke. But I’m not laughing.

Los Angeles (AFP) – A federal judge in California has ruled that including a small Christian cross on the official seal of Los Angeles County is unconstitutional, siding with civil liberties advocates.

Thursday’s decision, following a two-year legal battle, was handed down by US District Judge Christina Snyder, who said that including the religious emblem in the government symbol “places the county’s power, prestige and purse behind a single religion, Christianity.”

The case erupted in 2014 when the county had the cross drawn on top of the San Gabriel Mission which appears in the logo.

The move reversed a decision by officials a decade earlier to remove the cross from the seal, amid threats of legal action by various groups opposing the inclusion of the crucifix on the county symbol.

The LA county seal appears on flags and official stationery and government buildings across Los Angeles County.

Supporters of keeping the cross on the mission in the seal said it is a historically accurate symbol, given California’s early settlement by Franciscan missionaries from Spain.

They also noted that courts have upheld the constitutionality of the phrases “in God We Trust” on US currency and “one nation under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Thursday’s ruling is a victory for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which brought the suit.

Hector Villagra, executive director of the ACLU of Southern California and attorney Linda Burrow who represented plaintiffs in the case said in a statement Thursday that they were “heartened” by the ruling.

“It recognizes that Los Angeles is a diverse county comprised of adherents of hundreds of faiths as well as non-believers, all of whom are entitled to be treated with equal dignity by their government,” they said.

The ACLU recognizes the importance of lawsuits for the important issues affecting citizens today.

It is a travesty that liberals, liberal judges followed their ideology instead of cherishing an historically accurate symbol, given California’s early settlement by Franciscan missionaries from Spain.

Great — so when do we get all the iconography (and it’ ain’t Christian that’s for sure) off of the one dollar bill? I am certainly offended every time I look at the all seeing eye and the novus ordo seculorum motto etc.

Oh that’s right – they’re taking all cash away anyway. Fixed it.

Where’s the ACLU stand on things like this?

FWIW, you cannot have the benefits of living in a Christian nation if you are not in a Christian nation.

As Christianity is wiped from public influence and expression in this country by the government, be prepared to become like other non and anti Christian nations, it won’t be a pleasant experience.

What is this game? “Make work” for idiots?

These people are playing a game…”I am more liberal than you are.”
And they are a laughing stock. Let us have a tiny earthquake…just big
enough to swallow up the California ACLU.

Every so often a state(NC and MS) defies the PC crowd. The simple edict that a person born a male must use the MENS room at a public restroom facility has created a shitstorm of massive proportions. The County of Los Angeles should extend the middle finger to the “Federal Judge” and the ACLU but of course, they won’t. Admin is correct: we are not a nation anymore and there really is no hope. And President Hillary Clinton will hammer the final nails into the coffin that w contains what was once the United States of America.

Article VII the ratification…
“done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independance of the United States of America the Twelfth In witness whereof We have hereunto subscribed our Names”

I wonder what Lord they could have been referring to that could have died one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven years prior to their signing? It couldn’t have been Christ, as in Christian faith, could it?

My how the religious practioners in here are vehement and closed minded about religion. Everything else is up for scrutiny and analysis by the critical thinkers in here but when it comes to religion, all of that flies right out the window.

The fact is that you must suspend rational thought and analytical thinking for your belief in god to work.

I’ve studied the beliefs of many Christian denominations and have not come across one I’d want to teach my children, lead the government, or speak for “the Church.” The following list, by no means comprehensive, is probably more descriptive of church leadership than the congregants (who may not even be aware of their church’s stance). Consider the following:

•The Episcopal Church is quite liberal and is akin to MSNBC and the Democrat party sporting a priest’s collar, from their views on Israel to their support of homosexuality in the church to belief in climate change.

•Many Baptist churches are led by and filled with neoconservatives and have become like Fox News from the pulpit from their support of all things GOP. They’re akin to Jesus wrapped in an American flag.

•The Church of Christ claims if you haven’t been baptized you can’t go to heaven.

•Seventh Day Adventism claims you have to worship on Saturday to go to heaven.

•The Church of the Nazarene claims you can lose your salvation after being saved and subsequently go to hell.

•Denominations from Anglicans to Presbyterians to Methodists to Lutherans to various Evangelical groups have ordained homosexual clergy and perform homosexual weddings.

•Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses, on the fringe of Christianity, claim they’re the true church.

•The Catholic Church has a history that, among other things, includes putting “heretics” to death, receiving money (indulgences) from the congregants to pay for their sins, and has failed to address massive abuse of children by priests.

In short, as someone who has a personal faith in Jesus, gathers regularly with a small group of likeminded believers for prayer and study, and does not adhere to any denomination, I’m troubled by the practices of many if not most churches.

That said, a small cross on less than one sixth of a county seal which recognizes the founding and heritage of a land does not bother me in the least. I wonder if a small crescent moon and star atop the same structure would cause as much commotion…

Amen John Angelo.

Who’s to say what religion is correct, wrong, indifferent?

Why should I have to go to a specific building on a specific day to worship my god?

As a former catholic living in the bible belt, I can assure you that your spot on with your religious descriptors, especially the baptists.

Now if I can only get my hands on that pos priest, father dittman. I hope he’s burning in hell right now.

“Everything else is up for scrutiny and analysis by the critical thinkers in here but when it comes to religion, all of that flies right out the window.”

Well, you could apply some of that “scrutiny and analysis” to the world around you, particularly the Christian and non Christian regions of the world and the flow of legal and illegal migrants being from which to which, and do some critical thinking about it.

That should tell you something, about rational and irrational thought, assuming you actually use critical thinking and analysis about it.

I don’t personally see a problem with this, however if you give the Bible-thumpers an inch on separation of church & state issues, they’ll try to make it precedent and before you know it you’ll have Bible readings in the middle of public school board meetings. Think I’m kidding? Read this shit:

Yeah Muck, I hear ya. Back in the Clinton days when the whole PC crapola started, I said that that will be our downfal someday. Unfortunately, someday is way closer to us now.

Bea, I am about 15 miles out of Danville, 50 from Lexington. Thanks for the help but I’d rather not watch tv anymore. This might sound weird but When you’ve been without tv as long as I have been, I feel somewhat uncomfortable and violated whenever I watch it. Besides, my days are busy with farming our garden, playing in the creek, target practice, trail blazing and riding, taking care of our cat shelter, mowing 30+\- acres of lawn, and responding to the occasional fire alarm. Do you know about geodes? I picked up about 15 whoppers today. Geodes are he coolest thing EVER!

Anonamouse, Yeah, I hear you about the whole migration thing re: religion. When I think of the west bank, for instance, I think that the Heebs have stolen land from the Palestinians, in the name of god. When I think of the legions of missionaries over the last two centuries, I think of invaders shoving christ down the aboriginal throghts weather they waned it or not, in the name of god. And when I think of America, I think of those poor native american bastards whom got invaded and then handed a bible and were told to have a nice day.

In the name of our lord jesus christ, of course.

I’m kinda glad my mildly autistic son will likely never have children and my daughter has no interest in them. The country and world that is evolving is not a place I would want my grandchildren to live in.

And I don’t see any trend line in the social, economic, government and foreign policy areas that leads to anything other than disaster.

Collusory litigation has been used for about 100 years to advance the progressive agenda. I am afraid crazies may target judges and lawyers over this stuff. That would not be a good thing for the USA.
