QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It is common knowledge that Wall Street and its inflated compensation packages have remade Manhattan into an exclusive playground for the rich, just as tech moguls have made San Francisco unaffordable for the middle class. The estimated $4 trillion spent since 9/11 on the war on terrorism and billions spent on political campaigns have trickled down so extravagantly to the New Class settled around Washington’s Beltway that they have remade the landscape of our capital.”

“Wall Street is a plague”

But one everyone seems to want to support with their money.

For what reason, I do not venture to guess.

My wife and I had a couple who were online NdN forum pals, kinda like pow wow pals, y’know. Anyway, they visited when our friend who is a writer was on a book tour, and brought him down to stay a weekend with us. They lived in the DC’burbs. We liked them.

A few years down the road, she had become infected by the DC crowd she worked with and he had become a contractor, doing flooring for beltway noveau riche types in their McMansions. Lots more money for them in their professions etc. and they came to visit again. They weren’t even the same people we had met before, both were committed SJW rhetoriticians. It was the time of the aftermath of the ’00 election.

She was telling us stories of truckloads of ballots for Gore being taken to landfills uncounted, and because I laughed and said that was unlikely, she decided I was a Bush lover. I told her that I hated all politicians and didn’t have a dog in the Bush/Gore fight, but it didn’t matter. I had turned out to be a Bush – voting fascist republican in her eyes.

Mordor on the Potomac turns people into zombies. I haven’t see them or heard from them in years, but I imagine they’re solid Hitlery or Bern campaigners now.
