Iran Defies Trump: Carries Out More Missile Tests, Threatens Enemies With “Roaring Missiles”

Tyler Durden's picture

Iran does appears to not be taking Trump’s escalating threats too seriously, because just one day after the US imposed restrictions on 25 Iranian individuals and entities in response to a ballistic missile test last week (a move which provoked Tehran to answer by saying it would disclose the names of US individuals and companies involved in “helping and founding” terrorist groups), Iran carried out more missile tests during a military exercise on Saturday.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim agency, which cited Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ aerospace division, Iran successfully tested a range of land-to-land missiles and radar systems during the drills in a 35,000 square-kilometer stretch of desert in the northern Iranian province of Semnan.

“If we see the smallest misstep from the enemies, our roaring missiles will fall on their heads,” the brigadier general was cited as telling reporters on the sidelines of the military trials, without referring to any particular nations. Any threats made by the U.S. against Iran were “nonsensical,” Tasnim cited him as saying. Hajizadeh also said tat Iran would use its missiles if its security is under threat, and added that “we are working day and night to protect Iran’s security,” head of Revolutionary Guards’ aerospace unit, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards is holding the military exercise in Semnan province on Saturday to test missile and radar systems and to “showcase the power of Iran’s revolution and to dismiss the sanctions,” according to the force’s website.

Dismissing Trump’s comments that “nothing is off the table” in dealing with Tehran, the commander of Iran’s ground forces said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic has been hearing such threats since its 1979 revolution. “The defence capability and the offensive prowess of Iran’s armed forces would make America or any other enemy regretful of any incursion,” Ahmad Reza Pourdastan was quoted as saying by ISNA.

Iranian state news agencies reported that home-made missile systems, radars, command and control centres, and cyber warfare systems would be tested in Saturday’s drill. Iran has one of the Middle East’s largest missile programmes and held a similar exercise in December to showcase its defence systems, including radars, anti-missile defence units, and short and medium-range missiles.

Tehran confirmed on Wednesday that it had test-fired a new ballistic missile, but said the test did not breach the Islamic Republic’s nuclear agreement with world powers or a U.N. Security Council resolution endorsing the pact.

Despite the heated words, Reuters reports that U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Saturday he was not considering raising the number of U.S. forces in the Middle East to address Iran’s “misbehavior”, but warned that the world would not ignore Iranian activities.

Meanwhile, the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting last Tuesday and recommended the missile testing be studied at committee level after the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, called the test “unacceptable”. The Security Council resolution was adopted to buttress the deal under which Iran curbed its nuclear activities to allay concerns they could be used to develop atomic bombs, in exchange for relief from economic sanctions.

The resolution urged Tehran to refrain from work on ballistic missiles designed to deliver nuclear weapons. Critics say the resolution’s language does not make this obligatory. Tehran says it has not carried out any work on missiles specifically designed to carry nuclear payloads.

As of this morning it appears that Trump has not learned yet about Iran’s latest defiant actions, as he has so far focused on “so-called judges” in his morning battery of tweets and has failed to mention Iran yet during his first weekend retreat to his Mar-a-Lago winter retreat in Palm Beach. Instead moments ago he simply tweeted…

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Reimpose all the sanctions Obama removed that encouraged and allowed these violations of both our agreements and UN resolutions to take place.

More actions to follow that if necessary.

Iran is our sworn enemy, it has called for our total destruction on a very regular basis for decades, and allowing them to move in the direction of being able is the height of foolishness.

Such nonsense. When does this idiotic role as policeman for the Neocon military contractors stop? Iran is zero threat to the US, and is the only force currently fighting ISIS. Israel will fight to the last American, but even there, Mossad has told Bibi bluntly that Iran is not a threat.

Iska…..that is correct; Sanctions??? Boo-Hoo. Sanctions don’t bother any large country – it is the smaller countries that immediately fold with threats, like Switzerland.

EU countries will ignore any U.S. Sanctions on Iran if it helps their pocketbook, as they have done in the past.

Iran isn’t taking us seriously because Obama was so accommodating and weak in his policy toward them, which was actually a pro Iranian policy.

It’s a part of the Obama legacy we are dealing with here, with much more to come as it all unfolds on us.

Obama’s was a pro-Sunni policy, thus the arming of jihadis in Syria to depose Assad. Trump seems to be getting sucked into the same Israeli/Saudi-driven policy. People need to think further out than dropping some bombs because they tested missiles. All that’ll do is cement the loyalty of the population behind the ayatollahs and strengthen their resolve to get nukes. Hell, they might just buy the nukes from Pakistan and the missiles from North Korea. This is a 1,400 year battle of civilizations. Setting them back 10 years won’t accomplish much. And we damn sure can’t occupy the country.

I’m thinking a show of force that will be swift and sudden that will provide Iran a reason to think twice before disparaging US policy or our military’s capabilities. With the new president and his determination to speak loudly and carry a big stick, this will set the tone for future discussions.
I believe they are still showing the pictures of the disgraced American sailors who were held as prisoners for a short time.

That is stupid. It assumes that the Iranians would just take it lying down. Maybe they will maybe they won’t. Every fucken ship in the Persian Gulf could be sunk at a time of Iran’s choosing.

Soviet Naval Doctrine was designed to confront overwhelming numbers of Capital Ships with overwhelming missile strikes to deny area access to the CVN battle groups. Iran has taken this and adopted as its own.

Any attack would turn into a Marianas Turkey Shoot. Except this time it will the USN instead of the Imperial Navy getting the business end of the guns.

Soon there will be Muslim Terrorist with Nuclear tipped ICBMs in the middle of the Middle East!! Hussein (The Nobel Peace Prize Winner and the Prophesied Black Mahdi) is so proud; as are his Useless Idiots from NYC to San Francisco; and the thousands of terrorist Hussein smuggled in by air at night and then bussed to the Sanctuary Cities and 35 plus terrorist camps Hussein helped set up inside America. But not as evil as Trump renovating a building in WDC or appointing a Constitution loving Judge!

What exactly gives the USA the right to tell countries on the other side of the world what they can and can’t do? It is none of our damn business what Iran does. They are no threat to us.

Being the world’s policeman is expensive and we are broke. It also pisses off people in other countries when they see their relatives killed by drones and missiles made in the USA.

The only ones benefiting from this insanity is the military-industrial complex where the profits from weapon sales are rolling in.

The U.N., treaties, and alliances are what give us the right.

In fact, they make it an obligation.

1) Fuck the U.N.; they don’t have our best interests at heart,
2) Treaties? Don’t make me laugh! Ask Native Americans about treaties with Uncle Sam.
3) Today’s ally is tomorrow’s foe, and vice versa depending on political expediency.

That’s true. And we should have listened to George Washington who warned us not to be entangled with foreign alliances.

This sabre rattling with Iran can only end in pain, suffering and death for a lot of people. There is a large part of the world that feels threatened by actions the U.S. has been taking. Moving thousands of tanks to Russia’s borders and sucking all her former USSR satellite countries into NATO. Vowing to put a stop to China’s island building while keeping half our navy parked in the South China Sea just to name a couple. With the threats Russia and China face from the U.S. I don’t think either nation will stand idly by if we were to attack Iran. We might be able to beat one or the other, but both of them together? Turkey is pivoting toward Russia. We’ve had control over European foreign policy since WWII, but I think war with Russia might be hard to sell on the continent. It’s not hard to foresee it progressing to full blown global nuclear annihilation.

And oh yeah, I forgot to mention our little regime change in Ukraine, Russia’s breadbasket. That was a pretty good kick in Putin’s balls. He aint gonna forget it.
