During my working years I chose not to buy a boat, or a vacation home, or a Harley Hog, or a host of other consumer toys and wealth-sinks.
I saved. I saved because I saw the system as a huge Ponzi and those pushing it as Cargo Cultists. I saved because I knew my job would disappear, and it did.
Now, my wife’s job has declined so much that I fear it is literally killing her. Neither of us is anywhere near 65, so we’re faced with either sending her to the equivalent of a poorly managed COAL MINE or quitting and hoping to survive on our savings.
One HUGE problem: “Medical Insurance.”
If we’re both unemployed, Uncle SAMMY puts a gun to our heads: Go without insurance and hope neither of us gets hurt by a dunk illegal immigrant driver or falling down the stairs (because the hospital would undoubtedly charge us Top Dollar and sue to take everything we own to cover the bill) or pay easily $12,000 a year for high deductible, USELESS “insurance” under Obamacare/RyanCare/TrumpCare etc. As Denninger notes, there is ZERO chance of reforming this morass because it would immediately cause tens of millions of people to lose their jobs in that make-work industry.
But immigrants & refugees GET MEDICAID!
When CW2 arrives, the rage quotient from this will make Americans like me revert to the utter barbarism of warfare 2000 years ago.
I have felt your pains and raise you Affirmative Action, Cultural Communism, etc; pay-back for liberals will be Hell.

If they keep raising those damn premiums the next slowdown in employment may well bankrupt us – and I’m 57, never gone broke before. Not looking forward to the effects, either. And even paying $20 copays, $50 and $65 doctor visits and high deductibles doesn’t mean we’ll get real care if it’s desperately needed – so why are we paying all this cash for healthcare insurance again?
Damn system is designed to fail, probably when you need it most. ObamaDontCare doesn’t work if you work for a living.
