On this day in 1954, the Salk polio vaccine field trials, involving 1.8 million children, begin at the Franklin Sherman Elementary School in McLean, Virginia. Children in the United States, Canada and Finland participated in the trials, which used for the first time the now-standard double-blind method, whereby neither the patient nor attending doctor knew if the inoculation was the vaccine or a placebo. On April 12, 1955, researchers announced the vaccine was safe and effective and it quickly became a standard part of childhood immunizations in America. In the ensuing decades, polio vaccines would all but wipe out the highly contagious disease in the Western Hemisphere.
Polio, known officially as poliomyelitis, is an infectious disease that has existed since ancient times and is caused by a virus. It occurs most commonly in children and can result in paralysis. The disease reached epidemic proportions throughout the first half of the 20th century. During the 1940s and 1950s, polio was associated with the iron lung, a large metal tank designed to help polio victims suffering from respiratory paralysis breathe.
President Franklin Roosevelt was diagnosed with polio in 1921 at the age of 39 and was left paralyzed from the waist down and forced to use leg braces and a wheelchair for the rest of his life. In 1938, Roosevelt helped found the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, later renamed the March of Dimes. The organization was responsible for funding much of the research concerning the disease, including the Salk vaccine trials.
The man behind the original vaccine was New York-born physician and epidemiologist Jonas Salk (1914-95). Salk’s work on an anti-influenza vaccine in the 1940s, while at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, led him, in 1952 at the University of Pittsburgh, to develop the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), based on a killed-virus strain of the disease. The 1954 field trials that followed, the largest in U.S. history at the time, were led by Salk’s former University of Michigan colleague, Dr. Thomas Francis, Jr.
In the late 1950s, Polish-born physician and virologist Albert Sabin (1906-1993) tested an oral polio vaccine (OPV) he had created from a weakened live virus. The vaccine, easier to administer and cheaper to produce than Salk’s, became available for use in America in the early 1960s and eventually replaced Salk’s as the vaccine of choice in most countries.
Today, polio has been eliminated throughout much of the world due to the vaccine; however, there is still no cure for the disease and it persists in a small number of countries in Africa and Asia.

Pesticides (DDT) actually weaponized the polio virus and caused the disease. The vaccines were introduced as the use of DDT was waning, thus the vaccine is not responsible for the cure. also, several other paralytic diseases were identified, transverse myelitis, arsenic poisoning and others, to make it seem like polio was being reduced. The vaccines were also contaminated with SV40 up until the 1980’s, and in the case of the Cutter disaster, the vaccine caused huge polio outbreaks of a highly virulent strain so the vaccine became the disease vector! IN fact, it is known that nearly EVERY polio vaccine caused paralysis. SO the use of these vaccines has released even more virulent strains into the biosphere. Supposedly killed virus vaccines would resurrect the virus while on the shelf! More disease was produced by the vaccine than the wild virus after the initiation of the vaccine.
SV40 is found in several types of human cancer cells, not in surrounding tissues. to cause cancer in rodents, it is well known that injecting them with SV40 causes cancer. due to a lack of research, no one knows how much of the increase in human cancers has resulted from the use of monkey kidney products into the human population.
Polio vaccine was a complete and utter failure on so many levels of technology and human corruption. It is still a failure today as India polio vaccine failures has indicated. The main problem with vaccines is CONTAMINATION. The second problem is the technology and no one can overcome the major problems of ADE (Antibody dependent enhancement) and OAS (Original Antigenic Sin). check it out for yourself. every single vaccine needs to be looked at alone, for non-deadly diseases they are worthless and actually hurt the patient. No vaccine provides lifetime immunity and many do not work at all…flu vaccine.
Oh just stop. This facile standard propoganda about the polio vaccine “saving us” has fueled a many decades religious level fervour for vaccines in this country. Once you delve deeply beyond the mainstream party lines a whole different story emerges. First of all right when the vaccine was released they changed the diagnostic criteria for polio. Previously requiring a much looser set of symptoms, cases that would have been dx as polio miracoulsy overnight became acute flaccid paralysis, septic meningitis, Guillane-Barre Syndrome. If you look at the charts of the number of those cases versus the number of polio cases one went down in lock step with how the others went up. Polio didn’t disappear, it was reclassified. Secondly, DDT poisoning symptoms resemble polio. They both cause very similar neurological damage and paralysis. During the “polio epidemics” of the 40’study and 50’s kids were getting sprayed in public pools and in the streets by DDT. It was everywhere. Ironic that polio was mostly hitting during summer and the early fall when DDT sprayings were at their peak? And that after widespread reduction of those programs polio started to disappear?
Polio is a mostly benign enterovirus that lives in our gut. It only becomes a problem when it finds a route into the central nervous system. And even if infected 95% of people show only mild cold symptoms. A small percentage of people infected of the remaining 5% actually become paralyzed. How does polio find a route into the CNS? Two ways proven scientifically. It is all in the records. One is tonsillectomits. Guess who were getting tons of tonsillectomits back in the 40’s and 50’s when the epidemics were rampant? Yep, kids. That is another reason why it was hitting primarily children. Sabin was having a hell of a time getting animal subject in his trials to catch polio. He discovered cutting out their tonsils worked. Bam they got polio! Secondly, again all in the medical literature. Deep muscle puncture wounds can provide a mechanism for kids to get polio into their deeper systems. Back in the day before people had made a cult out of vaccines and people were allowed to question safety issues and speak openly about problems with vaccines, doctors were told not to administer the DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) vaccine in a community if there was an outbreak of polio. They knew, and were willing to admit, if polio was circulating outside people’s bodies and laying on children’s skin (again it is entirely benign outside the CNS), that a deep puncture from a vaccine could push it into that child’support body and provide a route to cause issues.
Recently there have been outbreaks of what the CDC calls a “mysterious polio-like paralysis” hitting children. Something like 50 cases. One child died last Fall in Seattle from it. Funnily enough again only happening in late summer and early fall when kids are getting their vaccines (and giving a virus an entry point into the child’s body). This time it appears it is a polio like enterovirus, DV68. There had literally been ZERO cases of Zika in the US and the CDC was freaking out and blasting the headlines w fear mongering about it and asking for $1 billion in funding to deal with it. 50 kids get a polio like paralysis and crickets. Think it might have anything to do with the fact that a Zika vaccine was close to being ready? Whereas not only was there not a vaccine in the offing for DV68, there may be some issues relating to vaccines those kids got and developing the disease?
Please don’t buy into the “polio vaccines saved us” BS. Once you look at the facts, welcome to the rabbit hole of vaccine truth. They have been given WAY too much credit and the many many problems with their safety and efficacy are being swept under the rug. We have the highest number of vaccines given to children in the entire world (69 doses by the time they are 18. For fucks sake I had 5 in my entire life). And we also have the sickest children in the western world. We have traded off mostly benign childhood diseases for ADHD, eczema, raging amounts of food allergies, seizure disorders, autism and more from continuously activating our children’should immune systems and pumping them full of toxic adjuvants. I hate articles like this that glorify vaccines. There is a dark ugly side to them that you will NEVER hear in the mainstream. Final note. Most people don’t realize that Congress took away legal liability from pharmaceutical combines for vaccines in 1986. One car accident and a car manufacturer is on the hook for billions. Do cotes give 7 vaccines at a two month old “well baby” visit, they develop a 106 fever and are found dead intl their crib the next morning. Nothing. Carry on folks. Sickening.
