Washington traffic bacon are the worst. They have always been assholes. Back in the 80’s when I used to have to drive a lot around the Yakima valley I had a very nice radar detector, which paid for itself many times over.
They can always just lie to write a ticket. There’s no way to challenge a cop in traffic court. His word is irrefutable proof and their radar records are never examined. I caught a ticket for 81 in a 55, because I passed some asshole hogging the left lane while doing 45. I passed him in the center lane and got pulled over by a young VA trooper who was going to write me a ticket for passing on the right.
I informed him that passing in a lane to the right of another vehicle is only a violation if you pass on the shoulder or in the emergency lane, so he changed up and claimed he had been behind me and clocked me with his speedometer. I never got above 55 to go by the car that was obstructing the left lane.
81 in a 55 equals reckless driving in Virginia and it cost me a little over a grand to get out of it with my license intact. That’s what the judge wanted anyway, the money. Traffic enforcement is all about raising revenue. It has nothing to do with safety.

At least they didn’t get him for an expired license.
1. They need the revenue for the cities’ general fund
2. The ticket competition is heating up
3. The union needs the dues
