Here’s what puts the burr under my saddle on articles like these…
Christ’s command for proselytizing was simply “Go and teach the Gospel.” It was a precondition of making that effort that one personally attempted to live in following the Two Great Commandments.
He did not say “Go and get into pseudo-intellectual lengthy diatribes trying to improve the world on arcane subjects that have little involvement with a person’s successful living of a good moral life.”
None of us is so close to real source information on any of the key points of contention in such matters as to make it worth arguing about. Information is kinda like light; the further it gets from the source the faster it dissipates in utility. Any posing about authoritative sources is really an adherence to a personal interpretation and nothing more.
Believe in God or not. It is a personal choice with personal consequences, and the consequences might be eternal.
If you are a Christian believer then you might want to recognize four things:
1. Jesus was pretty dismissive of politics in general. (So why do so many adherents wrap Him around the axle of politics?)
2. Jesus obviously was talking to the simple folk, He did not propose a Gnostic religion. (So why many adherents try to build one after Him is a complete mystery.)
3. Of any of the religions in existence today, Christianity is the only one NOT possessed (dogmatically, at least) of ethnocentrism. (Contemplate the context of The Good Samaritan and the Sermon on the Mount.)
4. Getting into Heaven is a matter of having a personal relationship with God. The Gate swings open one at a time. (By all means teach as simply as the Master did but when did He ever hector the natives about fine points of obscure facts of little relevance? A lot of times the best preaching never involves words.)

He was not ambivalent about the money-lenders or Pharisees though. When you take the context of the current political division the problems continue to hinge on fundamentally the same problems.

Point taken and it is a well-stated objection to my blanket assessment. You are correct about the fundamentals…and that is the problem that is worthy of discussion, not the arcana which creates such florid commentary here. (And the good number of postings here by Admin do actually get into the guts of exactly that problem – dishonest money.)

Roger Roger. The intent was to over-amplify that there is a fundamental divide that must be acknowledged and committed to before we can then properly deal with the divide and conquer tactics being used that are meant to actually create a roundabout way of re-uniting us under “it”.
For example individual atheists/agnostics, gays, blacks… all are going to have to eventually make a call to either stand with and defend Christians and whites… or commit to fully pursuing the destruction of white Christians. There won’t be a middle ground and it’s rapidly approaching.

I hear you and we have no argument. I find my mind works best on this topic when I pare the fluff of these ancillary debates from it.
The essential questions are four-fold:
1) Though my faith is not terribly strong, I go all-in on Pascal’s wager…and his side on it.
2) I like the Golden Rule and the essential capitalism of sharing what I have in expectation of that good being returned to me. And, you know what? It generally is! I have spent time in a monastery as well on pilgrimage walks of over 500 miles just to get away from the “modern” contrasting mindsets of ‘gibmedats’ and ‘who dies with the most toys wins’. (And, no, I would not recommend those experiences to anyone who has not already felt the internal prompting. It takes effort to wrap one’s mind around the reality on the ground.)
3) How would I prefer to spend eternity, joy or loss? (“Alex – I’ll take Joy for $1,000”)
4) What is the essential right conveyed to one at conception? It’s life itself. (Yes, some will object to that origination point. I don’t care, not my problem…) It was given to you for a reason, maybe one you will never know but defending it is your right also. None of this point goes against the Great Commandments nor the Sermon on the Mount. Neither would I propose that there is a “standard Christian” response to circumstances. The Christian hagiography is bewildering in its abundance of both the submissive and the warrior martyrs. (For me, this reminds me that I need to get to the range more often.)
I have to say that I doubt that much of a “middle ground” exists. Popular music of the last few decades suggests the relative traffic congestion into the eternal…. “Stairway to Heaven” versus “Highway to Hell”; this is awfully similar to the Scripture’s commentary on the ‘narrow gate’, no?

Wouldn’t it take a mighty cruel people to want to crucify someone as kind as Jesus is; wouldn’t it be a cruel people who are proud of such an ungodly act? And I fear for my own country that has now gotten itself into routine killings of women and children; and whole countries. We are like a wild animal in a fight with another that will end only when one or both are dead.
