I’ll be off-line for the rest of the day. I’m at my third and FINAL new student orientation at Penn State Altoona. The drive here was uneventful and relaxing, with little traffic and no rain. I’m going to pay today, as torrential rains are headed this way and will make my four hour drive home a real pleasure.

Which is why sooner or later the rudderless ship is set adrift to sink in the open seas and thereby cease to cause embarrassment and grief.

Just to let you know, the last hour of the trip home was one of the scariest in my life. The rains were so heavy, the wipers on at full blast couldn’t keep up. The awesome PA Turnpike couldn’t drain the water fast enough, so numerous times I went into deep puddles at 60 mph and began hydroplaning. There were a few times I was regretting not going to church for the last six years.

You would have enjoyed some of the past verbal fisticuffs between Admin and me. Once he started calling me “old man” and accusing me of descending into dementia, I knew I was getting under his skin. Then the insulting photos would start to fly back and forth. Heh. We’d wrap it up by each declaring victory. What great fun.
