The Student Loan Bubble and Economic Collapse

student loan bubble III

The inevitable collapse of the student loan “market” and with it the takedown of many higher educational institutions will be one of the happiest and much needed events to look forward to in the coming months/years.  Whether the student loan bubble bursts on its own or implodes due to a general economic collapse, does not matter as long as higher education is dealt a death blow and can no longer be a conduit of socialist and egalitarian nonsense for the inculcation of young minds.

The perilous condition of the student loan sector can be seen by looking at a few ominous pieces of data:

  • The US has around $1.3 trillion in non dischargeable loans to students
  • Over 120 billion in student loans are already in default
  • 27% of students are a month behind on their payments*

As economic conditions deteriorate and there are even less meaningful jobs for college graduates than there are now, these numbers will only get worse.

Not only have colleges and universities been havens of leftist thought for many years, but they have become ridiculously expensive and beyond the reach of most middle-class income earners to afford without going into significant debt.  Moreover, the incessant barrage by the Establishment about the necessity of a college degree has distorted the labor market to where worthless, debt-ridden degrees are pursued instead of much needed blue-collar employment.  The readjustment of the labor market to a proper balance will not only take time, but it will be a costly, painful process.

While the “hard” sciences have not been as effected by the Left, the social sciences have long been an intellectual wasteland devoid of any freedom of thought or opinion.  Promotion and recognition of academic excellence is, more often than not, based on diversity and one’s skin color not merit.  Arguably, economic science has been the most corrupted discipline.  Economics departments of major universities are now training grounds for employment in state and federal bureaucracies, the banking industry, and Federal Reserve where Marxism, Keynesianism, neo-Keynesianism or whatever kooky, nonsensical theory of the day can be put into practice.

While higher education has long been hostile to the ideals of Western Civilization, it is now explicitly a bastion of anti-white discrimination and hostility especially against white heterosexual men.  Few days now pass where there is not an incident, many of which are approved by school authorities, blatantly attacking white Americans or symbols that supposedly represent them.

Of course, the higher education apparatchiks have had an easy time in their brainwashing task since the impressionable minds in their charge have been indoctrinated by twelve years of public “schooling.”  Not only has the public school been a mechanism of social engineering, but it has constantly pushed its chattel to continue their “education” at the collegiate level.

The Trump Administration and most on the Right have failed to grasp the liberalistic bias of American education.  Education Department Secretary Betsy DeVos has spoken about “competition” via school choice, vouchers, magnet and charter schools to increase school and student performance.  The Administration’s proposed 2018 education budget calls for an increase in federal spending on school choice by $1.4 billion, a $168 million increase for charter schools, and a $1 billion increase for Title I “to encourage school districts to adopt a system of student-based budgeting and open enrollment that enables Federal, State, and local funding to follow a student to the public school of his or her choice.”**

These shopworn ideas and policies are not only fundamentally flawed and will make matters worse, but they will do nothing to counteract and or end the Left’s domination of education.  Instead, President Trump should do what he spoke of at times on the campaign trail and what President Reagan promised to do, but never did – abolish the Department of Education!

While the collapse of the student loan bubble may be the catalyst for a general financial downturn and will certainly be the cause of tremendous social pain and dislocation, it will, nevertheless, be a necessary prerequisite if America and, for that matter, the Western world is to ever break the grip of leftist ideology which rules it.  May the bursting of the student loan bubble commence!

Black colleges must fully integrate like real colleges or they should be required to fly the Confederate Flag to show they are Antebellum Institutions. As for K-12 government schools, they will never be able to reform themselves; vouchers like used by Europeans must be allowed here too; that would do more good than a thousand departments of education.

“Black colleges must fully integrate like real colleges ”

This sounds ‘logical’ – but what self respecting white person wants to go to a nigger school?

All of their non-white professors and staff must be terminated, and entirely replaced with straight, white, men. It should go without saying that white, male, students must be given full scholarships and significant advantages in obtaining admission – regardless of the consequences for the university.

Renaming most of those universities will also be needed.

They’ll need to tear down any monuments. statues, or busts of any black notables on their campus – and replace them with the same, but of white men (to demonstrate how committed they are to diversity) – too.

So, what is the most likely thing to happen here? No matter what, this is a multi decade, slow roll decline.

After the revolution, comrade, only qualified graduates from approved schools who have attained “worthless, debt-ridden degrees” will be permitted to join the soviets (people’s committees) that will run everything that matters.

What, I missed the Revolution; it must be over because you sure described today’s government; or can it get any worse?

Libs will buy votes with student loan debt forgiveness. They already are doing it, but it’ll expand. Listen to Elizabeth Warren. Forgiveness will go to those in approved, government-employed fields: social work, copfukery, indoctrinators (teachers), etc etc. Start your own business or work in private industry and you’re on your own, although the debt forgiveness will soon extend to those in PC businesses: solar panels, wind farms, surgery to make more trannies, etc. So it’s all just part of the generalized deficit spending – of which we have $700 billion in fiscal ’17. I can’t see universities being forced to eat their shit sandwich yet.

Student Loans for Diversity & Resentment Studies and to an only slightly lesser extent, liberal arts degrees are this era’s equivalent of the Children’s Crusade.

“Take out student loans, learn to fight for social justice!” Ignore the fact that the loans for studying stupid make you less employable and marriageable, not to mention the debt slavery.

Blame Federal Government GUARANTEES on all these loans for all the problems. NOBODY in their right mind would blindly lend all this money for gender studies or to students with marginal grades if THEY ultimately (meaning the banks) had to cover the default. Further, a truly FREE MARKET in interest rates would have driven WAY DOWN the amount of money anyone could afford to borrow, and THUS the COST OF COLLEGE. You can’t get blood from a stone, and colleges only exist with paying customers. No loans, no students…..until they lower their costs. As always, BLAME THE US GOVERNMENT.

I’m the one who physically pays the bills in our house. Last year I sent in the regular student loan payment one month early like I do with all our bills. I pay all bills that require mailing by old fashioned check. The payment to NAVIENT, the re-branded Sallie Mae, was for $266.04. Since they never mail out monthly statements I always check the website to be sure things were credited properly. Someone had made a data entry error and only processed the check the $206.04. I verified the check had been filled out properly then called to find out what was going on.

Betty or Veronica in Bollywood told me that all I had to do was send them another check for the difference and everything would be fine. I said that wasn’t going to happen and that they needed to properly process the check I had sent. We went back and forth for about five minutes getting nowhere so I asked for da boss and was told they would review the situation and call me back in two days. Of course they never called so I called them and was informed that everything had been corrected and I need not do anything.

Almost a year later that $60 still sits in my checking account. The website still shows a $206.04 payment instead of $266.04. I requested a payoff amount earlier this year and paid the loan off in full a few weeks later. The payoff amount, according to my math did not include that $60 shortfall. Yesterday I received the second congratulatory letter for paying off the loan so apparently they’re not going to get that $60.

I figure that $60 will rear it’s ugly head about the same time my wife goes to apply for Social Security. At that time it will cause her to be denied until the original $60 plus $37,914.11 in interest, fees and penalties are paid. But right now……we’re *winning*. It feels good to be a gangster.

IndenturedServant, you’ve obviously been living in this Country for a long time, and men from the Government could be knocking on your door soon, because you’re starting to catch on.

However, they may make a deal if you can’t pay the $37,914.11 in interest, fees and penalties, by twisting your arm and trying to force you to sign a reverse mortgage.

That way they can confiscate everything you worked hard for, and ensure there will be no inheritance for your children.

LOL…
