QUOTES OF THE DAY

“Once the principle is admitted that it is the duty of the government to protect the individual against his own foolishness, no serious objections can be advanced against further encroachments.”

Ludwig von Mises

“The alcoholic and the drug addict harm only themselves by their behavior; the person who violates the rules of morality governing mans life in society harms not only himself, but everyone.”

Ludwig von Mises

“All people, however fanatical they may be in their zeal to disparage and to fight capitalism, implicitly pay homage to it by passionately clamoring for the products it turns out”

Ludwig von Mises

“It is vain to fight totalitarianism by adopting totalitarian methods. Freedom can only be won by men unconditionally committed to the principles of freedom. The first requisite for a better social order is the return to unrestricted freedom of thought and speech.”

Ludwig von Mises

“The alcoholic and the drug addict harm only themselves by their behavior; ……….”

Their families, children, employers, friends and neighbors and other victims don’t count.

Very old quote from Von Mises. We know a lot more about addicts today. And whose morality is Von Mises referring to? We could have a field day on that quote alone. Good catch, Anon

Again, communism versus freedom.

“Once the principle is admitted that it is the duty of the government to protect the individual against his own foolishness, no serious objections can be advanced against further encroachments.”

It should be be noted, that his work served primarily to attack societal cohesion, and – in no small part – has led the West to where we are now. Socially and politically atomized individualists can’t protect themselves against a socially and politically cohesive group that acts collectively – as our current situation demonstrates, all too well.
