Ownership being made meaningless means you can only own restricted and ineffective weapons if they are locked away from use, the current trend in gun control. It actually means nothing to have them because you can’t access and use them when you need to and they are difficult (at best) to use in that situation (i.e. an AR with a stock deliberately made to make it hard to hold the gun and the need to load it through the top by opening the upper to access a limited 10 round fixed magazine).
NFA, restricts everything from machine guns (LE exempted) to short barreled shotguns that are effective for close in use to smooth bore pistols to silencers. You pay a high tax, go through extensive government investigation, and a high price to get permission to own one of these and also subject yourself to random surprise inspections after you finally get one (the people I’ve known to get these usually end up waiting about a year to get permission if they manage to get it).
All kinds of people are on various “no buy” lists for anything from minor crimes they pleaded guilty for because they couldn’t afford to fight them to innocent ones that were unjustly ordered to have a mental evaluation even though they had no mental problems at all.

Back in the 70’s I had a licensed MG (S&W 76, FWIW).
It was understood when I got it that the ATF could demand to see it anytime they wanted. There have been several people in the last few years I’ve read about that have been caught with unlicensed MG’s during an inspection of their licensed ones, they didn’t get notice and didn’t have time to hide them elsewhere.

If you have an FFL, then yes. But not for an NFA item. There is no NFA License, just a stamp for the suppressor, SBR, etc. Also, machine guns require an NFA stamp, but you can only get those pre-1986 manufacture.
I had to wait almost a year for my stamp, but no, they cannot come into my home, car, etc. without a warrant. Period.

Because it tells me the end of this ridiculous era is almost here, and these people – like Wes – are the types that will survive. And, their children and grandchildren will eventually prosper.
And, from at least where I am, I am already seeing a resurgence in community, which also provides me hope.
But the one thing I will say is that the next phase will be very trying, and I really doubt that there will be an all-out shooting war. The great enemy will be famine and disease because it will primarily be economic. This will disproportionately affect the city-dwelling lefties that make up the likes of BLM and so forth.
