I love taking newbies out in the woods who have never spent any time there. Every sound freaks them out. That shit there would have turned them into Jessie Owens…..never to return!
When I was about eight I was hunting with my dad and one night after dinner a pack of coyotes showed up about 20 feet away on the other side of a shallow, mostly frozen creek. They all started howling, yipping/yapping and making the most unreal sounds I’d ever heard. Scared the living shit out of me. They stayed for a couple of hours. It was crazy to see them so close. I think my dad got a big kick out of it. The only sound I fear now in the woods is the soft grunt of a bear……..and banjo music.
