Obama Administration Put Diversity Over Safety in Hiring Air Traffic Controllers

The FAA has for decades been one of the most trusted institutions in government and for good reason. Commercial air travel has been the safest in the world in part because of the FAA’s high standards. But under the Obama administration that began to change radically without anybody paying attention.

The Obama administration pressured the FAA to meet abstract diversity goals. Nobody bothered to explain why diversity is a relevant criterion for air traffic controllers. No one will explain it now. We called the FAA today and we got silence when we asked that question, which is the most basic question. But it didn’t matter.

Starting in 2014 the FAA added a biographical questionnaire to the application process. Applicants with a lower aptitude in science got preference over applicants who had scored excellent in science. Applicants who had been unemployed for the previous three years got more points than licensed pilots got. In other words, the FAA actively searched for unqualified air traffic controllers. That is insane and they knew it was insane when they did it but they did it anyway.

Today we obtained new information, it is an internal email written by an executive at the firm that devised the FAA’s biographical questionnaire. In that email, the executive admits that the test he devised has nothing to do with finding the best air traffic controllers. If you want good air traffic controllers, find people with experience, that was his advice. The FAA ignored this and used the biographical screen anyway. They didn’t care about finding the best air traffic controllers. Compared to diversity, your safety meant nothing to them.

We reached out to Greg Martin, who is the FAA’s top spokesman. We wanted to know why the FAA would ever use totally irrelevant criteria such as what people look like in order to hire for a job as vital as air traffic control. We couldn’t get an answer. We also asked the acting FAA administrator Daniel Elwell to come on this show and explain exactly what was going on and why he was too cowardly to appear. So was the previous administrator, Michael Huerta, he was the one who originally signed off on the policy. He’s also a coward. But we are going to keep pushing until we get an answer.

I don’t see any of the bureaucrats on Obumma care either.

Fortunately, private planes use the same ATC system. Perhaps Nancy Pelosi will have a near miss and they will quietly change this ridiculous policy.

Gotta have equal representation in race regardless of qualification. That is what is mandatory. Without it there would be essentially no representation by blacks. We can’t have that now can we?

In the 80s I had been a mechanic at Mc Donnell Douglas for about 8 years when I applied for a first line supervisor job. I had 4 years aircraft mechanic experience in the Navy, an airframe and powerplant license issued by the FAA and a commercial pilots license with instrument and flight instructor ratings with about 2000 hours of flight time. The individual I had to compete with for this job was a black guy with no aviation experience at all.
Time passed and I had no response to my inquiries so I cornered one of the managers and the reply I received was this. “We have to make it look like you just got out of Harvard and the black guy just got out of the jungle”. I was so angry that I was close to using makeup to paint my face black and show up at Human Resources but was informed the next day that I got the job. Apparently the company was under a lot of pressure from the government to diversify even then. The results were very negative to the company.

There’s nothing whatsoever surprising about such policies from the administration of D’Won Mocha Messiah. Keep in mind however, that his administration ended on January 20, 2017. The real question is why wasn’t such a stupid and insane policy reversed in January 2017. As with so much else, here we sit a year and a half later and in many ways it’s as if Hussein was still the nominal teleprompter reader for the Bilderbergers who are clearly running the show rather than the peculiar personage delivering tweets from somewhere in the white house. All manner of appointees and affirmative-action hires of Hussein, Jorge W. Busheron (our first Mexican president) and the Clinton crime family continue in their overpaid sinecures – untouched and endlessly wreaking havoc from the DOJ to the CIA to FAA. The alleged commander in chief could have summarily fired all of their miserable criminal asses on day one. Just “trust the plan” – right??

“The real question is why wasn’t such a stupid and insane policy reversed in January 2017.”
(1) Are you really expecting bureaucrats who never thought Trump would win and didn’t expect him to last a month without impeachment (that they were leading) would point out failures of policy under Obama?
(2) When oh, say, half a million bad ideas, policies and procedures were written in the last eight years previous to Trump, how long would it take for all of them to be discovered, evaluated, decided as idiocy writ large and repealed? How do you even find them all, let alone choose which to repeal first?
(3) Some of these bad ideas have established methods to alter them once they are in place. You cannot repeal them without building a case, demonstrating a need, environmental impact statements and similar time-wasting hair-splitting. Trump will hopefully have his people repeal them all; but in order to follow the “law”, he has to at least give lip service to everything from Civil Service seniority to hiring practices to arbitration requirements. Obama would have had to do this too, but he was on the side of the angels and various members of his administration were willing to overlook the rules and red tape in order to bring the benefits of socialism to a wider population. [Does this sentence really need a /sarc tag? OK, /SARC.]
(4) Some of these would instantaneously generate lawsuits, injunctions and so forth. If you are going to say “no unqualified persons shall be hired into ATC service” few would argue. If you fire some of the HIGHEST PAID NEGRO PUBLIC SERVANTS IN THE GOVERNMENT then lawsuits alleging racism, sexism, white nationalist discrimination and everything else would bloom overnight. Unless a few hundred people die in a plane wreck caused by an incompetent ATC, THEN you MIGHT get some traction to “retrain” and “requalify” some of them out of harm’s supervision.
That good to start?

Hiring low IQ under qualified people to control aircraft – what could possibly go wrong???

Are you suggesting that IQ inequality doesn’t need to be addressed?

After all, with almost all key positions and jobs being filled by the highest IQ people we need to do something about that inequality, particularly in all the influential and powerful positions that set the direction for the rest of world.

Maybe it’s time to level the playing field with quotas and such and get rid of this inequality.

Having had a front row seat to witness affirmative action hiring practices where the best qualified people were passed over to draw from a pool of applicants that representing 13.3% of the population with an average IQ of 85 what could go wrong ? Cranes fall over car assembly factories lose production quotas . Government Agencies are packed to the gills with minority employees that imitate real work being done . Funny 13.3% of the population that could not handle the lunch rush at a fast food restaurant make up 30% of all government employees !
There was a 10 year period in the late 80’s early 90’s where not one white person was hired by the MTA of Maryland , that’s the mass transit authority . All white applicants regardless of qualifications were never even interviewed . There was a similar situation for the civilian workforce maintaining and repairing coast guard ships .
It is amazing the size and expense of the pacifier required to patronize 13.3% of America’s population then came Obama . There is no unfucking this mess now !

Standards, it’s all about standards. In all phases and all levels from new hires to the most senior supervisors. Pilots, controllers, mechanics, dispatchers, &TC have all been held to very strict and very exacting standards. Well, it seems like no more. At least the pilots have TCAS to help avoid collisions. That’s if Shaquanda and LaDaunte know WTF the warning system is telling them and know what to do about it. Good luck wif dat!

Anyone remember EVA air flight 15 out of LA? Listen to the ATC recording and you’ll hear tangible evidence of this idiocy.

On another note this virus has infected nearly all levels of corporate Amerika. In the last two years the new hires on my shift, at my job is as follows.
3 black guys: 2 useless, 1 ok.
2 black girls: 1 excellent, 1 too early to tell.
2 mexi guys: 1 hardly speaks, ok workwise, 1 is so so.
1 mexi girl: Outstanding worker.
1 asian guy: Not so good.
1 white guy: Doing it.
1 white girl: Outstanding.
