As many great minds have said, when the sheeple learn they can vote themselves free shit, then the end is nigh. SS is just free shit, and the end is nigh. People actually believe there is money put away to pay them what is their “right”. That is some funny shit right there.

I paid both sides (15%) because I was self-employed and you want to tout that bullshit line that it’s welfare? Okay Uncle Sam, cut me a check for all I’ve paid in (with interest) and fuck you!

How can SS be free shit when you pay into it with every paycheck?

It’s not free for people who worked for a living; however, every Boomer I know that went to Tallahassee to apply for their SS waited in a room that had 3 to 1 young Black mothers for every Boomer. They seem to be the FSA (a majority) applying for SS Physical, Mental, Behavior or Emotional Disability for a kid and I’ll bet my ass that they have paid crap into SS.

Rob – of course it is free, even if you put into it. The take out is far greater than the put in, or the fucking thing would not be going broke. Not to mention the putting in has been spent already.

I think I’ve lost my mind lately. The doom has made me a bit heretical(?). The Lynyrd Skynyrd concert last night plus a shit ton of beer hanging out with my kind of people has helped calm my nerves. I should be back to normal soon.

Entitlement my ass…you forget the concept of “compounding”. The City of Galveston Texas was the last municipality to be “allowed” to opt out of Social Security. The average retiree gets approximately $6,000 per month, more than three times the average social security recipient gets…
Not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500. If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5%(less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working (that was me) you’d have $892,919.98. If you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you’re 95 if you retire at age 65) and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you’d have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month. The folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than
Bernie Madoff ever had…

The real problem here is that Anarchyst just succinctly described the situation in a paragraph that is easily understood and NEVER taught in school. A minute spent on as serious a subject as this is certainly more important to teach than how many dykes Heather has at home or how to put rubbers on bananas and recycling garbage.

First: Social Security is an insurance program, not an investment plan
(42 U.S. Code Subchapter II – FEDERAL OLD-AGE, SURVIVORS, AND DISABILITY INSURANCE BENEFITS)

Second: The Glaveston Plan is not a panacea
(See: https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/ssb/v62n1/v62n1p47.pdf)

But the ones putting in are not the only ones taking out; there is a HUGE hole in the SS program; liberals have been robbing it and have turned it into another General Welfare Program (at least until it is flat busted).

Free Shit for many.
Nothing for many.
My wife worked but didn’t have enough quarters to get any back.
My son worked and paid in but was killed in a car wreck at 27 never got anything back.
Millions of people payed in but died before they got anything back.
That’s what burns my ass. All the free-shitters getting OPM.

That is how retirement systems are modeled. The armed forces retirement is modeled the same with their survivor benefit plan. One now only contributes 6.5% of retired pay for 30 years. It used to be until death. The healthy support the unhealthy. Before the navy mandated physical fitness tests the average time an enlisted drew retirement was 4 years. It was a good deal for the government to have a sailor give 20+ years of shit wages for a short return. I had a boss that did 30 years and died after receiving one retirement check.

The SS system might work a bit better if it was only used as initially intended which was to supplement a retired persons income. Now they give it away for all types of situations. I have a friend here in Thailand who married late and had two children with a Thai woman. As he was over 65 when they were born each was entitled to $750 a month. He is 82 now and they are still getting it. WTF!!

You are missing the biggest ponzi of all. The US dollar system. Once it fails, it will go into the history books. For a while anyone, before the bankers hide their scam again.

Even Ponzi may not have been operating a “Ponzi Scheme”. Since he was, at least in theory, trafficking postal reply coupons then goods were being “sold” between parties. There may be a plausible argument that he was engaging in what the FTC currently defines as “multi-level marketing”. I’m not sure if this is a defense of Ponzi or an indictment of multi-level marketing, lol.
