Reading requires cognitive functioning (thinking and analyzing) to be meaningful.
Video’s just implant information and ideas directly into your mind at a level that makes you think they are your own.
This is why, for instance, YouTube videos are so popular nowadays, everything from political ideas to all sorts of false or misleading information can be implanted directly into your thinking without your knowing about it and you end up thinking it is actually your own opinions and attitudes and knowledge instead of whatever it was that the author wanted you to have when he put into you.

For millennials, this video is five minutes and 12 seconds too long.

It’s a great idea, do some of the excellent regulars at TBP have some suggestions for great books they could share?
KaD,avid reader here, what are you looking for reading wise,fiction/history/skill enhancement/what?!Though mostly fiction I read about 4-5 hundred pages a week minumum, read 20000 Leagues Under The Sea when I was 4,then straight thru all seven Chronicles Of Narnia 4-5 years old,my folks were big on reading!Gave me a copy of Alive when I was 8,that opened my eyes a bit to survival!
I used to read fucking books on my daily drive to/from work but found it a bit too dangerous so I switched to audiobooks.

KaD, it depends on one’s age and topics of interest. That said, here’s a few I’d reco.
For young adults finding their way in a tough competitive world:
-Think and Grow Rich; Napolean Hill
Habits of highly successful people
-The Richest Man in Babylon; George S. Clason
Economic budgeting and debt avoidance
-PsychoCybernetics; Maxwell Matlz
-The Magic of Believing; Claude Bristol
The incredible human mind and what it is capable of accomplishing with correct thinking
and goal setting and getting.
I’ll try to remember more, and add to this partial list

I learnt that Michael Pollan is a good writer on food and health. He has written several books. Which is particularly good? My interests are to use food as medicine. Thank you.

I think something about the founding fathers beliefs would be interesting but I’ll read almost anything.
Curious what difference it is between reading a book and listening to an audio book?
I find it easier listening to audio books.
Less mental activity involved.
