Someone I care about got into some trouble the week before Thanksgiving. They asked for my help, and I wasn’t raised to say “no” in such situations. What ensued were a series of unfortunate events that staggered my mind and challenged my previously naive vision of a moderately benevolent universe.
By any definition, any knowledgeable neutral party would say I did everything right, in spite of the dire turn of events that, fortunately, resulted in only a minor loss of time and money on my part; with a still positive outcome for the party I helped.
Even now, looking back, I realize I’d have made all the same decisions with the same information I had at the time. Yet, the mostly-positive denouement of the entire affair resulted in a conclusion I never dreamed possible at the start.
It had to do with a car accident, an insurance claim, buying a lemon, and ultimately enjoying some fine lemonade in the end. The party who I helped is now better off than if my original plans were realized. I will say, however, it was darkest before the dawn, and things should have ended much worse.
I don’t know why it happened; only that it did. And, in spite of my minor loss of time and funds, I now realize I was changed for the better because of understanding, and appreciating, certain solutions of which I was prejudiced against prior. In short, my mind has been opened in ways which will benefit this blogger far more than some money ever could; and my lessons learned resulted in a new willingness to explore every room before locking any doors.
It’s been said wisdom comes from experience. I believe that now more than ever. It’s also true that time is a teacher that kills all of the students. Indeed. The inevitableness of reality requires honesty and acceptance.
Here is reality:
It’s bigger than me. It washes over like time-drops raining moments on my face. I can’t grasp anything outside of my reach; or control what’s not mine.
Here is wisdom:
When you’re in the shit, the next-right-move is all that matters.

Consider which U.S. president appointed which judge compared to the deciding opinions of every historical case, and the reader would realize the hilarity, or malice, behind Robert’s contention of an “independent judiciary”. Yes, it would be funny if wasn’t so sad, and dangerous.
If America were to be made great again, the indictments of Deep State criminals (and particularly those in the Justice Department) would have had to have fallen prior to the 2018 Midterm Elections. They did not. So, now, it’s become a matter for future historians to sort out.
Maybe Trump wasn’t real. Perhaps he didn’t have the power, maybe he was hoping for a Red Wave that never happened. In any event, we hear whispers of former FBI Director James Comey, and the Clinton Foundation, being investigated by the now Lame-Duck House, but that’s all. At the same time, judges are reigning in Trump in at every turn; even his own appointees.

Of course, the Surveillance State knows where all of the skeletons are buried in every closet, and all they need to do is press the right buttons, at the just right times, to steer the future in whatever direction they want; like reality TV.

As stated by this blogger before, President Donald Trump is the manifestation of one of the following three possibilities:
A.) The Real Thing
B.) Serving the agenda of the global financial elite unwittingly
C.) Controlled opposition as a Judas Goat or Trojan Horse
In any scenario above, there remains the possibility that Trump and his Deplorables were merely the bleeding of the brake-lines before the Big Stop. Or, it could be holy water will soon rain down over the baleful, bastard beast and it’s abominable, bloody feast.

Sounds much like Emmet Fox, a great mind who wrote books that helped millions way back in the 1930s.
Trump wants power for power’s sake, for the same putrid pleasure that all power-seekers seek. If he’s fighting anything, and that’s open to question, he’s fighting a losing battle against, in no particular order: crushing debt; an evolving multipolar world; an electorate that grows dumber by the day as the old people with a lick of sense die and the younger, deluded socialist snowflakes shun responsibility and work but claim the rewards; a military-industrial-intelligence complex that augments its power and wealth with never-ending wars; a welfare complex that nurtures idleness, degeneracy, and an implacable sense of entitlement; an entertainment-academic complex that degenerates what used to be called virtues and embraces all manner of bizarre and immoral behavior; and a parastic government and rent-seeker class that overseas it all for their own pleasure and profit. Trump was a reaction to much of what many Americans know has gone wrong, but whatever his intentions, he’s going to be like everyone else—playing on the beach with his pail and shovel when the tsunami, now so close its visible on the shore, rolls in.

Mary, As a prepper who is long past the basics, I’m not expecting The Life of Riley…I’m just not big into eating Alpo while sitting in the dark while freezing.
When I was 12 there was another neighborhood of boys who came into our neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon with pockets full of crab apples and ran us off our playground pelting us with the apples while chasing us for a block.
All week long we stewed. I came up with a plan and prepped, challenged the other neighborhood and at high noon we faced off against them on the playground with both sides this time with bulging pockets of crab apples. Ahhh….but then we revealed our preps…garbage can lid shields in one hand…and I had arranged for two of ours guys to show up with their paper route shoulder bags filled with endless apple ammo! Overwhelming crab apple fire superiority!!!
We vanquished the other neighborhood punks attempting to impose their NNO (New Neighborhood Order) through superior prepping and planning!
A boyhood lesson I never forgot.
Too bad the neighborhood kids don’t play like that anymore. Now it’s all video games. Although, the rural kids still go outside.
In the summer I went outside and only came home for dinner, then left again for evening games..until the streetlights came on. Todays kids don’t know what they are missing.
Yeah, those were good days. I swear my mother locked the back door after tossing us out after breakfast. She wanted us home at lunch and dinner unless we made other arrangements, mostly to make sure we were not dead or bleeding heavily… and of course when the street lights came on. We learned a lot about ourselves and our abilities and nobody ever went missing. The neighbor ladies, cigarettes in hand, curlers peeking out from under scarves, would rat us out if we went rogue, and made sure we were heading to our homes when the sun began to set.
Ya I did that too and I’m only in my early 30s. Thered be 8-20 of us on many summer nights out playing flashlight tag and other such games. Running all through the neighborhood, and when it reached a certain time and one of the kids had to go home, wed all go as a group and beg their parents to let them stay out a little longer. It was a great neighborhood to grow up in.
I’m always surprised I never see that in my neighborhood. I Halloween there were a ton of kids, but I hardly ever see groups of them doing anything regardless of time of year or weather.
Mary, we aren’t ready for collapse, but we are sustainable. We can either grow it, raise it, hunt it, or, if need be… we can reach out and purchase what we need on the local market. I like the Amish market.
I, too, had been in better shape (physically and prep-wise) about 3 yrs ago. I was in a really pretty good situation for any calamity. Any calamity except, apparenly, the death of loved one, and loss of job. So, I sold property looking to downsize. Nothing went as planned & now I’m no longer ready and have health issues that need resolving. I’m not bitter or sad about it; but if the collapse happens tomorrow, the irony of having been prepared 3 yrs early and unprepared when collapse hit, will not be lost on me.
Shit happens. Life intervenes.

I should know things that are ok to mention here are not stuff one should talk about in social settings. Since I have little experience in talking with women and I was at a party with the other in-laws, I mentioned MC, casually making an off-hand reference to how she said she was downsizing her breast(s). This shocked my SIL’s mom and I had to back-pedal to avoid sounding pervy. I had no luck trying to make TBP sound better than how Shelly viewed it so I focused on asking how the grand-kid looked like his dad.
Ah, who cares, I’m the one who provoked my SIL from Nebraska with the affirmation that the US never went to the moon. That was over 25 years ago. I don’t believe I ever recovered in her view. I have a party to attend this month with my daughter’s white in laws from SC, I wonder what topic I should lead with – impeachment or the caravan?
There are just too many damn crackers in my family. It feels like me and the sexy mulatta are being genocided.

Ya, you’ll probably have a year. Probably more. But it’s impossible to know for sure. I’ve been waiting to see us face the consequences of reality for so long I don’t think I’ll even believe it when I see it happen.
I don’t agree with denninger on everything, but he is right about one thing – ‘it’ will happen sometimes between tomorrow and 2024, because that’s when the Medicare fund runs dry. The choice then becomes drastically cut funding to that program, or add 800 billion to our ever growing deficit. Neither of those will work for very long.
I’ve got seven years before I can take early retirement, which I will do so I can focus on gardening and other self-sustainable things that I don’t have time for now. I don’t expect my Social Security to be there. So I’ll have to say to my one child, “Son, let’s talk.”
Or more likely– an economic collapse will have the masses begging and clamoring for Big Gov to save them. What is going to emerge is a beast-like system, just as foretold.

I don’t think anybody can be truly ready for a total collapse. One would have to have a level of armament equal to a platoon of seals and even then trying to keep hundreds of starving people from taking what you have would become problematic. How many could you actually kill?

The adversaries battle is with the above truth. God has not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ.
What is being established, what we are all currently witnessing around us are the conditions by which the masses will beg for “peace and safety”. It will be the devil which delivers the goods; thus will he receive worship for a short span. His written goal of “being LIKE the Most High” finally realized (Isaiah 14:12-14).
God will then pour out His just wrath on this fallen world. As the above Pauline scripture denotes, no one understanding even the very basics of salvation need go through any of this. God shows the way out. Someone here gets out alive; no apologies to Jim Morrison.
There will be a translation of the saved (dead and alive) out of this world before God has Had Enough.

In a time of war, power is the means to win. If Trump does not overcome the power of the deep state (with what? Gentlemanly courtesy?), he loses and the deep state wins. Does anyone really believe the deepstate won’t fix what they see as broken by making sure another Donald Trump can’t win? Does any part of that bode well for liberty lovers? The effort to complete the enslavement is out in the open and a lot of people still support the enslavers and hate the enemy of the enslavers. I’m perplexed–in what sense exactly has Trump fought against crushing debt, or an evolving multi-polar world… I’d agree he’s losing that battle if in fact he’s made any effort against it. That’s what I thought. I didn’t see the connection from the accident to the same political thoughts that resonate on this website. Kind of tired of them actually. Here is a thought, just as an example. Read the Blank Slate by Steven Pinker and correlate the concepts presented in the book to our current fuckedness. Just a different angle please.

I’ve told you before EC, I never know where they’re gonna go. It’s like pissing in the snow or using hands to form shadow-animals on a lighted wall. I start out to make a lion and a leopard appears instead; then I name it “Spot”, set it free, and hope the kids at the zoo come back again.
To that, I will add this: Most times, I try to hone some of the rough edges out of the original version until it shines indisputable; if only to keep some of the readers from twisting their panties on any snags. But, for this one, I left in a few rough cuts for the sake of conversation.

He believes Trump is A. He is not a prophecy wonk as I am and I am not convinced Trump is A…but that is still a possibility…getting slimmer by the day…but he could be B and I’m not ruling out C.

Thanks, Mark. For the most part, I’ve considered myself a boring businessman who’s found a late-in-life catharsis with writing; before the stormtroopers come ’round. I’m a nobody. A ghost in the machine.
But I’ve come to believe in the strategy of Three Ways. Like the mind, body, spirit, the three branches of government, the Holy Trinity, or three dimensions.
Consider risk management: We will either live, die, or become disabled. How to prepare?
When it comes to stuff: You will keep it, lose it, or release it on your own accord. This means 3 is 2, 2 is 1, and 1 is 0. In other words, a spare is good, but a spare spare is better.
In the future, if surrender isn’t an option, then we will fight, flight, or stay out of sight. How to prepare? Portability (i.e. bugging out) could be a profound benefit in either of those three scenarios. Or, it could be jumping from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.
Realistically, I think we can only prepare so much, and via the measurement of probabilities and with an inclination toward adaptability (i.e. resilience, flexibility, fluidity, portability). Above that, Mike Tyson’s maxim comes to mind: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face”.

I sold my “first” piece to a low food chain industry rag. I was still in college, so got the easy “A” in the short story class (it was non-fiction). However, after I got the paycheck for $150, the first of many writing paychecks that amounted to nothing worth bragging about. The professor was proud of me, but she and I were same age. I was 35 years old, NOT 20, so of course I had a thing or two to write about that was interesting.
It’s always been bothering to publish that stands in my way of potential greatness. I like leaving my stuff in little piles for a while, then picking it up and determining if it walks. Some will not; some will stand; most go to fire.
Some go hardcopy, for someone else to burn.
The piece was humorous financial advice I wrote after my husband and I got roped into one of those two hour financial gimmicks where they get you to let them manage your IRAs or other investments and they recommend the highest of the high-load funds to everyone. But, it was an old military friend who’d retired and needed a job and his job was to fill seats at these investment seminars. So, we filled a couple of seats for him and agreed to meet with his boss and to be nice.
We were nice, but I had a baby in a stroller at both financial counseling sessions so tended to wander around the office and up and down the hallway. My husband “handled” the meeting. Since I’d handed him one of Peter Lynch’s investing books from the 80s I’d grabbed after being roped into that “seminar” by an old comrade, he was well prepared to discuss our retirement with the financial genius who discovered the secret way in to military investors: retired Chiefs with a lot of influence.
So the seminar was Saturday morning with “meetings” scheduled with the whizbang expert. The guy was all ready to help us into some 4% up front loaded fund which had huge returns over the past however many years they quoted that, by the way?, was not a predictor of future performance. Even at the ludicrous rate of return the guy “seemed” to promise, but couldn’t, it would have taken 4 years to get back to zero!
We thanked him, told him we would sign NOTHING without discussing further and I made it a point to stop by the former chief’s office, where he was on the phone throwing away more old friends by getting them to come get bilked.
So, it was a good little article well worth 150 bucks. LOL… And I got the easy A.
