THEY SHOULD HAVE DUCKED

I wonder how many current readers get the joke with the title of the post. I would guess less than 25%.

This is where the promise of free shit always ends up. Stripping the produce from the productive and giving it to the unworthy never ends well. But the unworthy vote, and multiply rapidly during the stripping, until such time as the produce runs out. The socialists always run out of other people’s money.

How do you go bankrupt? Slowly, then all at once. Coming to a western economy near you soon.

“This is where the promise of free shit always ends up. “

Indeed.

And here’s the funny (or, ironic) thing: if (or, when) this new guy takes over — what will change? Answer: virtually NOTHING.

— Guido will inherit the shitty mess. He has neither the means nor intelligence to dig his country out of it. (Unless, of course, the USA!USA!USA! props up that country with endless Billions of YOUR tax monies.)

— All those people rioting in the streets …. do you think they will let Guido turn off the Free Shit Faucet? Riiiiight. If anything, the demand will be for even more free shit.

— All this endless blather about the Venny peeps wanting democracy. Bullshit!!! What they want, and will get, is even more Socialism. New Boss — Same Old Shit.

Yeah, but Guido will be aligned with the US/Israel Globohomo axis rather than the Iran/Russia/NK axis as is currently. Hence the “need” for regime change.

Well, the worlds largest oil reserves might help.
I don’t think people are still going to vote for free shit in Venezuela, they have a lot of shit and no toilet paper going on 6 years.

I am not sure that I understand what your point is. Are you concerned that the government of Venezuela is using light armored vehicles to plow into mobs of revolutionaries inspired to riot by convicted merkin criminals with the backing of your anointed god king, or are you upset that the tactic only seemed to knock down one revolutionary zealot inspired by convicted merkin criminals with the backing of your anointed god king. I guess you could also be complaining that the convicted merkin criminals didn’t supply the revolutionaries with guns and bullets to shoot back at the Venezuelan light armored vehicles. Or perhaps you are complaining that the revolutionaries that are backed by convicted merkin criminals could only muster about 100 supporters of the actual physical coup that was called by the man that the convicted merkin criminals are trying to force into the leadership of a country that, as far as I can remember, has never once invaded merika, or even threatened to do so.

Is that similar to the joke intended in the title of this post? If not, please explain the “joke”.

Yeah, I remember quite well. I was just being a dick.

BUT … it’s good that you ‘splained to the 75% of the current folks who weren’t around back them.

Damn, we’ve “lost” some fine posters over the years; TeresaE, Hope@ZeroKelvin, Billy … and many others.

Still reading here, but less and less to say on TBP. Jim’s right on so many things, but like many others, he’s a Cassandra to the masses. And without convincing some large % of the masses, we’re all SOL. (Edit to add: I’m not in any way down on Jim, he’s doing a public service and more than I’m doing. I just observe that the momentum is too great to change things, and Jim’s role is rather like the Woody Harrelson character in the film “2012”, live-casting his own demise at Yellowstone.)

Anyway, when will you do the “mountain lion in a phonebooth” flashback?

FWIW I’ve noticed that DC Sunsets is a regular commenter at some of the other blogs I’m reading now.

@Persnickety – Agreed. Long timer here. Long time lurker. Few comments. Even fewer anymore. I get it. Shit is fucked up and bullshit. I’ve gotten to the point I only scan headlines, and read comments from a few of the regulars. The machine has held together for far longer than I ever thought it would way back when I first found Chris Martenson’s Crash Course. For all I know, they’ll keep it patched together for the next 100 years, too

In the meantime, I really enjoyed DC Sunsets comments. Would you be willing to point us in the direction of the blogs he still comments on? I always had something to learn from that guy.

I think I’ve seen him on voxday at blogspot and about 80% sure I’ve also seen him comment at Chateau Heartiste. Those blogs are not for the easily offended – TBP isn’t either, but those blogs have a different outlook and are even farther into the non-PC realm. Don’t read those on a work computer unless you own the company AND don’t have an HR department.

Nock had it right way back in 1936.
On the one hand, there’s no satisfaction to be had preaching (to the masses or anyone.) For this I do feel some sorrow for Jim. It’s a thankless activity in the short and long run.

On the other, members of the “Remnant” (the anonymous, invisible people who actually attempt to figure out how to live, and then attempt to do so) do benefit from encouragement.

FWIW, I got bitch-slapped by Reality a while back and realized I was wasting away my life tilting at windmills. I had to change…so I did. Part of this was to dramatically scale back my perusal of the Internet’s many columns. I’m still working my way toward “zero Internet.” It’s better for me.

I’ve honed my viewpoint down quite a lot, and am very happy with it now. Unfortunately, it won’t buy me a cup of coffee at McDonald’s without me adding a dollar (plus tax.) Opinions are like mouths. Everyone has one, but none of them actually matter. No one listens. Heck, we don’t often even listen to ourselves. I didn’t, for a long, long time.

I occasionally fall off the wagon and comment on things, but I rarely use the sunsets ID (unless it’s too embedded to remove.) I prefer this one, for it’s a better self-description. But I try to refrain, because I just don’t have anything new or relevant to say anymore. Others have said all that needed saying, and the rest is just waiting until this Long Boom and the social mood mania sustaining it end. I once believed there was a way to forecast the timing, but I no longer embrace that. I have no idea, and those on whom I once relied have an unbroken recorded of error.

But thanks for the kind words. It’s nice to receive respect on occasion. Makes me think I’m not quite as stupid as I feel most of the time.

The January 2019 case when David Steven Bell, a white middle-aged man, punched a black teen girl who with her friends had been sneering at Bell, his wife, and children outside a North Carolina mall at night? He punched after she charged him; legitimate self-defense.

The January 2015 crash in Brazil when a vehicle rammed through the walls of an office, and thankfully nobody got seriously hurt let alone killed.

Or… the Times Square attack 2 years ago when some man drove his car through a bunch of pedestrians and got a few killed.

Only problem is people never learn from history . What’s happening there will happen here only much worse. A Hurricane of crime and violence is headed our way once the social services break down from lack of money.
As far as loosing posters we picked up Meatballs and you still got me and that’s saying something so cheer up Stucky . I’ll be here as long as Admin keeps the doors open. Seriously , though I do miss those guys especially Billy and AWD. This site has been a blessing for me in so many ways. I have learned more in the 7 years here then all my other years combined. It has been one Hell of a learning experience.

Sadly, people don’t remember history because they don’t know it or they only know the pasteurized version presented in government schools. Wonder how many college grads know the first thing about the Roman empire for example?

Harvard College and Harvard Law School graduate/John M. Duff, Jr. Professor of Law at Yale Law School Amy Chua, the Chinese-American author who drew both praise and criticism for her extremely stern child-rearing approach (which earned her the nickname “Tiger Mom” but which contributed to her children becoming highly successful), made interesting points in her books.

One such point is that modern societies are far closer to breakdown than anyone is willing to admit. There are of course “overwhelmingly strong” incentives to keep people from stepping beyond legal boundaries (i.e, government sanction), but in addition to that, there’s little to stop people groups and individuals from going for each others’ throats. The “grease” which keeps the engines of societies running smoothly vary, from corruption/cronyism to relationships to an advanced level of respect for the rule of law. Take away the incentives, and society as we know it would degenerate into apocalyptic chaos. In less advanced countries of the world, where there is no rule of law outside books, where a nihilistic every-man-for-himself 24/7 mentality exists, where there is little in the way of state spending to bring about infrastructure for the common good, society is already quite broken down as is.

Some African countries (my point, not Professor Chua’s) fits the bill.

Those of us who are regular/longtime TBP readers are well aware that for years, the blog roll on TBP included websites about prepping or websites with links to prepping websites.

Even in first-world America, the world’s strongest economy and military power, the removal of the grease that keeps the gears of society operating smoothly would result in anarchy, violence, and pain. This is why the government has plans for deploying the military, quarantining areas, FEMA camps, etc. Whatever one thinks of the people running the American state, they are not stupid, and they have most certainly “wargamed” riot scenarios on large scales in major U.S. cities.

Stack your food, stack your bullets, and protect your loved ones.

Don’t forget the bunkers the “elites” have to survive it all, whereas, the people are left to the chaos and their own abilities. As Lt. Col. Roy Potter says, prep, pray and stay out of the way. And as I say, buy the 3 Bs, beans, bullets and Band-Aids.

There was only one person hit and he lived. The military vehicle went over a curb and people thought he was driving over a massive amount of bodies. Not so. ZeroHedge had an article on it showing the one guy being tended to by those around him.
