Finally, a complete security video released from the Philly phone store incident. I approve.
The guy put a couple rounds through the printer but what the heck.

Well done. Muscle memory kicked in, no hesitation, smooth and nice to make the first one count. Everybody who has ever been to shooting training (civilian or military or AGW) is first taught to keep firing until you are out or the perp is no longer moving. Sure in more advanced classed you could think about other perps, etc…in this case a quick double-tap, once the knee-grow hit the ground and start scanning for other perps, would be the next step but folks get tunnel vision in these situations……a gun in your face will do that.

So if the citizen can make a clean shot on the perp that’s awesome, this guy did a bit better than that.

Sure one can quibble over his stance and staying put….shoot and move but he is fucking alive and that is the only metric that counts.

Wouldn’t know about the official military but I was trained by multiple military folks. I was taught that in several classes.

Multiple military folks? I see you used ott’s reply to get you’re comment at the top.
What else do you lie about?

Yeah saw this earlier. But I used the link you provided and decided to read the comments which were overwhelmingly positive but were overwhelmingly disliked. Snowflakes too cowardly to express their own comment but tough enough to dislike a positive comment.

What I noticed was the inability of people to understand the need for multiple shots. People can take critical hits and still live. One of the things I will always remember is a video the Fairfax County cops showed during a gun safety course. An unarmed convenience store clerk argued with a thug who shot her point-blank with bad .357 reloads. He pulled the trigger on her multiple times but had misfires.
The clerk was shot through the heart and slumped onto the floor, still alive. She was still crawling around even after the thug left … it was a tough video to watch.

That is exactly what you are supposed to do. You don’t stop shooting until the target has stopped moving because he can always shoot back. You grab a phone and call the cops right away to get them to the scene not because you hope they can save his life, but to prove that you did what you were supposed to do. If somebody else, like his driver, called the shooting in first they could claim that you were the aggressor. And he cleared the area so if his assailant did come back to life and try and shoot him he wouldn’t be just standing there on the phone.

This is textbook correct. The only thing to add would be to ensure that the assailant no longer had access to the weapon, but that would entail getting too close to him. Leaving was exactly the best thing to do. Let the cops take the weapon off him.

Saw this from a different angle yesterday on another site. Both times, what went through my mind was Karma. His attitude just screamed conceit and arrogance the way he just pranced in and threw a bag at the clerk to fill up while he checked his text msgs.
As for unloading a clip in someone. Make sure you can afford it. If you can afford it, do it. Even a brain shot is no guarantee that dying quivers won’t cause him to fire his gun if he’s still gripping it.

I’m guessing the guy is dead. That is bad but one shouldn’t pull a gun and try to rob somebody. He was hoping to attend college next semester and was trying to earn tuition money. He was also a dedicated father.

He also sang in the choir, helped feed the homeless, looked after all of his siblings while his mom was working, and was engaged to be married. LOL. Now he’s just going to be taking a long dirt nap. Society will NOT miss his presence.

Smart move to unload the magazine.

I’m sure plenty of people will take issue with his use of force, but he did nothing except to defend himself until the threat was neutralized.

Excellent shooting, too.

It seemed to me the threat was neutralized with the first shot. Dude went down hard and fast. Could have held him there with the threat of more had he moved while calling for an ambulance; thus demonstrating to a jury a strictly defensive position and thoughtful, caring attitude even toward someone who wanted to do you harm.

Then again, I’m sitting comfortably in my recliner, unthreatened with no adrenaline pumping.

GCP – I definitely understand where you’re coming from, especially as a Christian. But as long as he is able to pull a trigger, he is not neutralized, even if he’s dying. Even the massive stopping power of a .45 is no guarantee, at one shot. Personal experience.
It all comes down to what each person decides, before hand, and in the heat of the moment. It all comes down to train, train, train. You will do in that unthinking moment exactly what you practice.

He hit hard but still held a gun so the decision to continue shooting him is text book

When you’re alone and a negro with a gun appears, 7 feet away, expect a massive adrenaline dump. I know you’re supposed to shoot only until there is no longer a threat, but in that moment you might feel threatened longer than the video shows.

Here on the left coast, he’d be sitting in jail now. First shot neutralized the robber, rest were like piling on. Not my opinion, just the way it is out here.

Another point – if you empty the cylinder or magazine you can always claim that it shows extreme duress, an overwhelming adrenalin surge of fear. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Cap three and wait shows a mind-set that a lawyer /DA could use against you. Sucks, but too true, too often. Always some a-hole that wants to second-guess and profit out of it.
As Brain wrote, the only issue I’ve got is that he didn’t reload. On the other hand, he might not’ve had a 2nd mag available. I doubt if he was expecting a full-frontal assault by the 2nd Marine Div. He did quite fine, better than way too many would have. He’s alive.
All’s well that end’s well.

Looked like the first bullet was spot on and the rest were out of fear of harm to ones self. One less dude that wont need to constantly be holding his pants as they gravitate towards his knees. When do you think he was saying “oh crap I messed up” to himself ? Before or after the first shot or the second shot when he felt the burn of it slice through as a reminder of how stupid he was. Did not look as if he felt the last ones. Another winner to the room temperature challenge. Ventilated.

Besides being the perfect lefty on lefty defensive shooting of the century, it’s pretty clear the 1st round hits the darkie in the neck or face as he goes down like a stone.

Nothing beats connecting on the 1st round.

different shooting–
you guys might remember a shooting in clearwater,fl about a year ago in which a white guy in the parking lot of a convenience store told a black woman she should not park in a handicapped spot–her b.friend was in the store & came out & knocked the guy on his ass–
white guy came up to his knees & shot him, justified imo–
the guy was not going to be charged until it became a racial case, ever since the poor guy has been on the wrong side of every judicial ruling–
last week he was convicted of manslaughter and is facing 20 years–

The Philadelphia police have ruled that they will not prosecute the employee. They ruled it a justified homicide. Hopefully, the case is closed.

Yes, I remember that well, the guy had turned to walk away when he was shot. I would have convicted him if I were on that jury.
