George Carlin – The Prophet

Authored by Sven Henrich via NorthmanTrader.com,

Oh how I miss George Carlin. Yes he was mainly known as a stand up comedian, but he was more than that, much more. He was a social critic, he challenged that status quo, he dared to go where society wasn’t prepared to go: Look at ourselves critically. He did it with biting humor, masterful oration and a directness digging into core truths that were not only uncomfortable at times, but needed to be heard and said.

His voice has fallen silent as he passed away a few years ago and I’m sorry to say: We don’t have anyone like George today. I didn’t agree with everything George said and I don’t need to, nor does anybody else, but his talent was to make us think and to view the world with a different perspective and yes he was a prophet.

He saw long ago where this was all heading. The political charades and manufactured dramas that are sold to the public as choice, the illusion of choice as the agendas have long been in play.

“What do they want?” he asked.

“More for themselves and less for everybody else.”

He spoke of the owners of this country, the owners that control everything, the media, what to believe what to think, and the great business and lobbying interests that spend billions of dollars lobbying for ever more benefits for themselves.

And lobby they do:

And boy did they succeed. Under the mantle of populism and draining the swamp they got themselves the biggest tax cuts in corporate history, a historic killing:

Wall Street celebrated and celebrates to this day.

Wealth inequality skyrocketing for years and now trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see and debt through the roof:

“But now they’re coming for your social security money” George prophesied.

“So they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And sooner or later they’ll get it all”.

After all after Act I is complete here comes Act 2:

“President Donald Trump will propose a $4.8 trillion budget on Monday, with sharp cuts to safety-net programs and international aid.

“Trump would increase military spending by 0.3% to $740.5 billion for the fiscal year 2021, which starts on Oct. 21.
Spending cuts of $4.4 trillion over a decade would target $2 trillion in savings from mandatory spending programs, including cuts of $130 billion tied to Medicare drug-pricing and $292 billion from safety-net programs, such as food stamps and Medicaid.
The budget assumes the $1.5 trillion tax-cut package enacted in 2017 and set to expire by 2025 is extended.”

Protect those tax cuts for Wall Street, but cut benefits for the rest, the needy and poor specifically. But we always have money to increase military spending which was already increased dramatically in the past few years on yes, a bipartisan basis. Both Democrats and Republicans voted for those. Lobbying dollars freely flow into both parties of course. Elections are expensive, don’t you know. And who are you going to listen to? To those that pay for access of course.

Don’t act surprised though. George Carlin, the prophet, told you years ago this was all coming in a brutally honest and biting rant that only George could’ve pulled off:

I miss his voice and I do wonder what he would tell us today. I shudder to think.

Seriously, I just wondered if HSF had actually been at some big comics convention or seminar where comedians all get together to take notes on delivery and punchlines. And, maybe George Carlin had stopped by to give them a few tips.

To be fair, “international aid” is just stealing money from us to hand to rich dictators/elite in foreign countries, either for them to line their Swiss bank accounts, or as part of a package that involves purchasing weapons from already-flush-with-cash US arms cartel corporations.

Additionally, corporations do NOT pay taxes. Only individuals pay taxes. Whatever was charged in the past, was taken out of the pockets of shareholders, employees, vendors, or customers. Receipts continue to increase, meaning the government is simply getting the money more directly now, and in a manner that gives the democrats “ammunition” while not changing where the money is ultimately coming from anyway.

But don’t look for any REAL spending cuts on the most wasteful government program of all – WAR.

He was so much more than a comedian. He was a philosopher with one hell of a sense of humor. I came to know him on his breakout album “AM/FM” in college and devoured his work ever since. But starting with his HBO specials he started doing essays instead of gags and his brilliance soared. At the time of the Iraq war he skewered the war lovers mercilessly. His one line on that show electrified me: I believe nothing the government tells me. Zero.

Words to live by.

And as you note, he first understood that we have owners. He opened the eyes and minds of millions. Yes, there were things I didn’t agree with him on-I played golf my entire life but still laughed when he called us “golfing cocksuckers”.

Can you imagine what he’d have to say about the zoo we live in now? I sure miss him.

I thought comedians were social critics. Lenny Bruce was. Steven King said surprise is basis of comedy. A good comedian is a critic of the human condition. He corrects human foibles and can also manipulate public opinion. I’m not sure if Carlin didn’t have an ax to grind; like they pissed him off and he went counter culture. I don’t find him funny, he makes me feel sick after a few minutes. He took some cranky observations and turned them into a shtick. Rush Limbaugh took a shtick and turned it into a radio show. In the end, it’s simply a mature and sober look at the bullshit that passes for normal everyday culture. Today’s Kardashian culture is just begging for a Carlin but he wouldn’t make it past the race censors.

I just caught this before it moved on. From the Random Quote part of TBP attributed to George Carlin:

“Once you leave the womb, conservatives don’t care about you until you reach military age. Then you’re just what they’re looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers.”

This must be some kind of synchronicity or coincidence, (even though I don’t much believe in coincidence).
Most of you know how I feel about abortion. Carlin was right about a lot of things but way off base about this one. It made me so mad my face is literally burning right now and I need to walk away before I start yelling. That is a Planned Parenthood talking point. I won’t even say the rest of what I wanted to say.

I have seen from my own personal work with Crisis Pregnancy Centers that what he said is a LIE. Let the downvotes begin.

“sharp cuts to safety-net programs and international aid.”
Pure grift, tell me it aint so Sven, and fuck you for hiding behind Carlin to pitch grift.
International Aid. What a sick joke, cut it to the bone President Trump, and safety net programs seem to be little more than code for enforced dependency if not outright larceny.

S.S. has been expanded way beyond what it was intended to be that is why it is broke. Other welfare programs are the same. One thing I do know, and it is an undeniable truth, and that is, everybody cannot have everything, no matter how many political philosophies say otherwise.

Took me about 20 years after leaving my parents and on my own to wake up and start to question real things and form my own opinions and break out of their mold. They hated Ayn Rand because they were Catholic and the church told them too. They hated George Carlin because he cursed on stage. Etc etc. When I read Atlas Shrugged, after I had sneaked L Ron Hubbard as well as 1984 into my brain during high school it was open season on old belief systems that never listened to what was being said on who and how it was being said. They never questioned who was telling them not to read or listen. They were compliant sheep and even today while they think like me, libertarian, they remain sheeple in their core belief systems. Sad

There is nothing open minded about idolizing a vulgar abortion loving leftist.
He wasn’t funny enough to sell comedy so he sold FUCK. I neve r saw the Farmers act but I strongly suspect he made a decent living without selling smut like Carlin and his daughter Amy Sheckels.

Saw him live in the mid 70’s and followed his career as an entrainer/comedian and with age came wisdom along with a huge dose of reality biting all of us in the ass especially where our wallets are . He is missed and have little doubt he would have crafted quite a message today .
Although few would probably listen !
