Still trapped in our house by government mandate, I remembered that I wanted to see 89 year old Clint Eastwood’s last directorial effort – Richard Jewell. I wanted to see it because the critics hated it and the mainstream media ignored it. That meant it had to be good – plus Eastwood loves to stick his finger in the eye of the establishment. So we rented it on-demand last night.
I remember the Centennial Olympic Park bombing, but not the details. My memories were more about the bomber – Eric Rudolph – and his ability to avoid capture for 5 years by escaping into the Appalachian mountains. We were in Atlanta in 1997 for a Treasury Management conference and visited the park. It was an unimpressive concrete monument.
I really didn’t know the story of Richard Jewell, but I do now.
First off, the film is outstanding, and the fact it only did $35 million at the box office is a goddamn disgrace. Secondly, if you didn’t already hate the Federal government and the fake news media enough, this disgusting episode in our history will make you despise the FBI and supposed media journalists even more.
I was so angry by the end of the movie, I had trouble getting to sleep. This simple man was a fucking hero. They should have renamed the park after him. But instead the lowlife fucks at the FBI and the parasites in the media ruined this guy’s life. It is clear to me the truth is meaningless to our government overlords and the propaganda spewing media. I love my country, but I truly despise my government and the despicable pieces of shit in the media.
I highly recommend that you watch this movie and understand the government and the media are your enemy. They will railroad you and ruin your life if it benefits them. Know your enemy.

I was part of the $35 mil gate. My wife and I saw it in an empty theater when it came out. I agree with this assessment although not with the same passion. I have long since stopped being disgusted by government. It’s what should be expected although Matt Taibbi’s article did provide some additional poison for me. By all means, do see this movie even as a refresher course on why to hate unaccountable authority.
I’m currently reading “CHAOS Charles Manson the CIA and the Secret History of the Sixties”. Joe Rogan just interviewed the author; Tom O’Neill. I’m 1/2 way through and just to the part where some shadowy figure intertwined in the Manson murderers is identified to be in the CIA. If I’m as enthralled at the end of the book as I am now I may submit a book report.
