“Under Siege” – Social Unrest Unfolds As Frustrated Americans Demand Reopening Of Economy

Via ZeroHedge

We laid the groundwork for readers over the last three weeks that social instabilities could materialize during or after the pandemic. It has become clear that protests in Lansing, Michigan, on Thursday (April 16), was the beginning of the lockdown-backlash that is now unfolding across the country.

Americans are becoming increasingly frustrated with state governments that have closed their economies and issued strict stay-at-home public health orders, resulting in one of the worst economic crashes in the country’s history.

More than 22 million people have lost their jobs in a month, and the true extent of the crash won’t be realized until the second half of the year. The one thing we do know is the financial crash has been so severe that it has forced people to organize on social media to mobilize en mass at their respective state capitol buildings across the country, demanding their governors reopen the economy and return life to normal.

The lockdown-backlash sounds like a revolution is in the making. And, of course, every revolution has a song, and maybe this Nickelback song “Edge Of A Revolution,” already circulating on some pro-Trump feeds, could be it.

As for Saturday’s protests, Infowars’ Owen Shroyer is planning one at the Texas state capitol in Austin. The rally is called “You Can’t Close America,” which is directed at the Texas state government to put an end to the draconian measures that have confined people to their homes for nearly a month.

In Maryland, a protest organization known as Reopen Maryland is already underway in locking down streets around the state capitol building in Annapolis.

“We are the strongest country on the planet and have put a man on the moon, there is no compelling reason why we can’t protect the sick and vulnerable and get our economy back to work,” the Facebook event says.

The group has 13,000 members on Facebook. By Saturday afternoon, dozens of vehicles, presumably from the group, were shutting down streets.

From Oregon, California, Idaho, Minnesota, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, and Maryland, thousands of people are ignoring social distancing rules and are protesting their state governments to reopen the economy on Saturday.

In a series of tweets on Friday, appearing to kick off the protests for this weekend, President Trump tweeted: “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!,” “LIBERATE MINNESOTA!,” and “LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!”

Stephen Moore, a member of President Trump’s council to reopen the country, launched a protest in Wisconsin on Saturday. Here are some scenes from the rally:

President Trump released plans on Friday to reopen individual states in phases that were currently experiencing a flattening in the cases and deaths.

The president is eager to reopen the economy to save it from a crushing depression. The danger of reopening an economy too soon is that it could spark a second wave.

And maybe now is not the best time to reopen, considering deaths across the US are surging once more

People are protesting across the country, ignoring social distancing rules and lacking proper health gear, which could result in a further spread of the virus. Nevertheless, the attempt to reopen will be a failure, just look at what’s happening in China… However, we suspect the protests will grow over the next couple of weeks.

The Gretch that ruined Michigan is now saying, because of the protests, she may have to extend the lock down.
And based on a lot of “new news” of new cases, reoccurring positives, blah blah blah. I think she will extend, as will other governors.

A whole 13 thousand? The government should be shaking with fear. /sarcasm

“Please Uncle Sam, give us back our freedom.”
mewls the populace.

The current virus is not the reason the economy has been shut down. We have had a major financial crash. Due to this crash money is tight; too tight to run our service economy.

The shutdown was imposed to give the FED time to reorganize the banking system. This reorganizing is to direct money velocity toward productive purposes. In their scheme bars & restaurants and hospitality & tourism are not productive uses of money.

When the lockdown ends it will also be the end of much of the service industry. Many of these jobs will be gone.

We are entering a depression. Many will see their 401K accounts depleted.

People are waking up. They are seeing this virus scam for what it is… a distraction.

The bubbles created by the financial sector have popped. This I believe will cause a deflationary depression. The federal government cannot save the local governments from bankruptcy. Many local government functions will come to an end, workers will be laid off and many government pensions will be terminated because the funds are not their to sustain them.

We are at the end of this financial cycle.

I do see an upside to this. People will have to take responsibility for their own welfare. The ones that won’t take responsibility; and many won’t, well they will face the consequences of their own ignorance and apathy. But the ones who use their creativity will start businesses from scratch without local government interference because government will be pretty much unable to interfere.

The less government the more freedom. For freedom loving people this crash is a God send. For others who traded their freedom for security they have lost both.

This is my take on what is going on.

” People will have to take responsibility for their own welfare. The ones that won’t take responsibility; and many won’t, well they will face the consequences of their own ignorance and apathy.”

that sure is some wishful thinking.
just as likely that another group of bleeding-hearts / gotta-save-everyone …will emerge and double down on those tactics.

30% of NYC economy is destroyed. It is a good thing for a long run.Now 30 %of City employees should be eliminated also.Less projects and school teachers to sustain. So the apes and liberal freeloaders must leave the City.Hope in 2-3 years nyc become self sustanabl.e.Mathematically impossible to pay those huge City pensions, city liberals produce poop for 25 years and then another 25 years of pensions and benefits. Most doctors are crying already they have no more patients to charge Medicare and want to move to FL[good luck fuckers].NYC will be for the rich Only,Finally.

TC-Merkel announced that she will allow the opening of some very small shops in Germany. Book shops, bike shops and mattress shops for example. What does that tell you? Stores that few will need their products. Less velocity of money because ya only buy a mattress or bike maybe every ten years….right? THAT is not a reopening IMO.

No restaurants, bars or department stores, that tells me there is a fear of hyper in Europe and here. They won’t loose the hyper til it suits them and then THEY will save us with the new plan. Yippy……

If humanity does not deal with the cartel this time around we deserve to be decimated.

Things are coming into focus now and soon the American people will erupt in a wave of rage at what has been done. This is the true situation.
COVID-19 is a serious public health issue and reasonable steps could have been taken and should have been taken to stop its spread, as far as possible. Thanks, ChiComs.
COVID-19 is NOT the Black Death and the threat it poses to healthy people, while not negligible, is moderate.
Deaths from the virus are almost entirely confined to the elderly and the sick with only a handful of outlier cases.
New information is rapidly disclosing that far more people have been exposed than was suspected. The great majority either fought it off or had minor symptoms.
The “models” used to justify the shutdowns were ridiculously wrong. Ferguson and Fauci, the two most responsible, are incompetent frauds. Every one – EVERY ONE – has been proven wrong, disastrously wrong.
Trump probably suspected this but decided he had no choice but to pretend to join the panic. He knew it would not turn out to be a catastrophe but figured he had to follow “expert” advice. At least he might get credit for “saving lives”. Trump would probably put all these quacks like Fauci in front of a firing squad if he could.
In order to cover their withered butts, the “experts” are now resorting to outright lies. For example, they are counting every dead stiff in the morgues as a COVID-19 victim, even if there is no evidence whatsoever that the virus caused their death.
There is egg on faces from coast to coast as emergency hospitals go totally unused, regular hospitals are full of empty beds, and “badly needed equipment” piles up in warehouses.
There is a degree of panic among public officials as they sense people are getting wise to this crap.
People are calling people in my state morons for going to the beach. The joke will be on them.
As the weather heats up (and it is already hot as hell in Florida) this thing will fade away quick.
Why was there a horrendous death toll in Spain and Italy? Old, sick populations living in crowded proximity to each other and their families. Idiot socialist politicians who allowed such things as massive feminist marches in the middle of the spread of this thing and telling people to go hug a Chinaman to prove they were not “racist”, as did DeBlasio in New York. Ha ha ha. Pity the poor virtue signalers. Also, the health care systems in Europe are NOT what they are cracked up to be. Don’t believe the globalist propaganda.

The Democrats and their news media allies, as well as evil globalists like Bill Gates, have combined forces to damage the economy and thus Trump.

He needs to reverse course right now, Then he needs to go hunting for the scalps of the bastards who caused this fiasco, starting with the ChiComs, but also the soulless Democrats like Pelosi, DeBlasio and the rats in the media.

It is time for a reckoning.

Downvote for blaming China, when likely the US government was also involved.

And just how many MORE lies were told by the CDC to keep the numbers artificially high? We already know that Birx had everyone marking “Covid-19” on every death certificate, regardless of real cause of death. We already know that NYC began hiding data as soon as the feds moved in to find out the truth. Yes, real deaths, all concentrated into key hospitals for dramatic effect, while far more died of the usual causes without anyone giving a shit about them (except the family members who were kept away from their dying loved ones). The first “mass gatherings” need to be public executions.

Here in Palmdale, the last time there were folks waving banners on 10th and Avenue P, they had Ron Paul posters. Today, a similar crowd of people were waving American flags and Don’t Tread on Me flags, bearing posters that said, Honk to End the Lockdown.

They were not wearing masks or keeping any distance. A sheriff deputy car turned left there without any sign that he was going to try to stop a peaceful demonstration.

A bit north of that, there was a line of cars going through the drive-thru at a fast food joint. Two people on horseback were also in the line. My wife likes to point out that there is plenty of food at Sam’s. I counter that there is still no TP.
