Is the Establishment Still Terrified of Trump?

The establishment fears that Trump could make a comeback, win the Republican primaries in 2024, become the nominee, and return in triumph as president. They are determined to abort that possibility. Many openly admit it.

As soon as the Senate received the lone article of impeachment accusing President Donald Trump of “incitement of insurrection” in the Jan. 6 mob assault on the Capitol, Rand Paul rose to object.

The Senate, he said, has no right to try a private citizen, which Trump now is. Thus, what we are about to do is flatly unconstitutional.

Forty-five of 50 Republican members agreed with Paul’s motion.

“This vote indicates it’s over. The trial is all over,” said Paul. “If you voted that (the Senate trial is) … unconstitutional, how in the world would you ever vote to convict somebody for this?”

Consistency says you would not.

Susan Collins of Maine, one of five Republicans who voted against Paul’s motion, agreed that the vote portends the final vote on conviction.

“Do the math,” Collins said. “It’s extraordinarily unlikely the president will be convicted.”

Rand Paul may have just derailed the second impeachment of Donald Trump.

Chief Justice John Roberts, the constitutional officer designated to preside over Senate impeachment trials, has said he will not preside over this latest trial of the ex-president. With Roberts seeing no constitutional duty, and declining the honor, his replacement as the presiding officer will be Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the longest-serving Democrat and the president pro tempore of the Senate.

But Leahy is viscerally hostile to Trump and one of a Democratic bloc that voted twice last January to convict Trump of high crimes and misdemeanors. How will it look to the world if this partisan is installed as both judge and juror at the trial of his political enemy?

Welcome to Zimbabwe.

Does the liberal establishment, now back in power and controlling the House, Senate and presidency, not see how this is all going to look in the history books, generations hence?

Blinded by hatred of Trump, enraged by the mob that stormed the Capitol, Nancy Pelosi’s House, in a rush to judgment, without hearing a single Trump witness and without letting his lawyer offer a defense, impeached, i.e., indicted, Donald Trump for “incitement of insurrection.”

But how could Trump have incited the riot and the attack on the Capitol when the mob swept up the stairs before Trump finished speaking a mile away? And he would end his rally remarks by urging the crowd to march to the Hill “peacefully and patriotically.”

We have subsequently learned that plans and plots were being hatched days before the assault on the Capitol began.

Was the Trump White House, or Trump, privy to those plots?

In August 1974, it was a near certainty that the House would vote to impeach Richard Nixon. But after the president resigned, the House did not impeach, and Ford pardoned Nixon so the country could move on.

The rage of the establishment at being deprived of its revenge against Nixon who had turned the Silent Majority against it, not unlike today, knew no bounds. And, though history has vindicated Ford, his pardon of Nixon precipitated a plunge in his poll numbers.

Half a century on, however, history says Ford did the right thing.

Why then are the Democrats continuing with this exercise in vengeance?

They want Trump convicted so that he will be prohibited from ever again holding public office. The establishment fears that Trump could make a comeback, win the Republican primaries in 2024, become the nominee, and return in triumph as president.

They are determined to abort that possibility. Many openly admit it.

What does that say about the liberal establishment’s love of democracy when they would disqualify, in advance, the largest vote-getter their opposition party ever had, out of fear he might come back to win the presidency as he did in 2016?

“Trust the people!” was a campaign slogan made famous by George Wallace. Our national establishment prattles endlessly on about its devotion to democracy, but it does not trust the people.

But the establishment is going to pay a price for trying to squeeze the last ounces of juice out of this rotting fruit. President Joe Biden’s call to unity are being drowned out by Democratic howls for a trial, conviction and banishment.

This effort to convict and disqualify Trump from running again tells us more about the people behind it than it does about Trump.

For the odds are slim at best that Trump would or could, at 78, win the nomination and the presidency a second time, as Grover Cleveland did in 1892.

Yet, a fearful establishment does not want to take the chance.

For all the babbling about “democracy” we have heard in recent days, the establishment wants to eliminate the possibility that the people could rise up, and, horror of horrors, elect Trump once more.

You can smell the fear.

They have proven it matters not who the people vote for, as long as Dominion machines are in use it’s whoever they decide they want in power.
But, they are acting out of blind fear and emotion, so rather than just let this go, they are driven by their wildly inflated egos to continue this idiocy.
Which, according to the Law of Unintended Consequences, could mean several states forcefully turn Dominion out of their borders, at the point of a gun.

It’s laughable to think the establishment was ever terrified of Trump. They tossed him around like a cheap plastic fu*k doll, and he played the role eagerly. Pat is smarter than this, so they must really have something on him to keep him pushing this uniparty plantation bullshit. Anyone looking for a real alternative to the zionist/bolshevist circus should check out the National Justice Party.

“Don’t count the Trump out in ‘24”

Good for you that you post as Anonymous. Because if you posted under a distinct unique name, I would down-vote every damned thing you wrote from now until eternity.

You are as delusional as Buchanan.

I don’t think he was advocating for Trump but rather making an observation that Trump is considerably more fit physically and mentally, than sleepy gropey joe is… plus Trumps ego would also be a factor to consider in his decision to run again… odds are, he would on that alone, imo.

Unfortunately, Trump is still hung up on working with Republicans within the framework of the contemporary political Establishment. After four years of watching his paranoid opposition attempt to destroy him Trump seems unwilling to abandon a political party incapable of correcting a broken system and it bothers me.

Trump will use ’22 midterm races to determine if he still has the power to get the vote out. I expect him to back a slate of candidates that are sympathetic to him and if he is successful, look for his campaign to begin the following week.

I worry about the feds getting people to open up and say something that would give them ammunition to go after them, especially with P A II coming soon. a G(overnment)man was the enemy of a lot of folk back in the day, including Henry Boman and it appears they will become the enemy of a lot of normies in the coming months.

yeah,be careful what you post–
a guy who posted oke memes in 2016 telling democratic voters to text their vote to ….. has now been arrested 4 voter fraud & faces 10 years b/c several thousand ny dems did just that —

Ten years in prison for posting memes. That’s what a Florida man faces after an outrageous FBI investigation has pinned him with supposedly violating 18 U.S. Code section 241, which says no one may “conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person … in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States.” In this case, don’t interfere with voting. Joe Biden’s Social Justice Department accuses the man of a “disinformation campaign” to do just that.

“Douglass Mackey, known online as Ricky Vaughn, was arrested Wednesday in West Palm Beach and is facing a staggering 10 years in prison,” reports The Daily Wire. “At the helm of [a] pro-Trump [Twitter] account, Mackey is accused of essentially tricking people into not voting in the 2016 election by suggesting folks text in their vote to avoid long lines.”

Ah, there’s the catch — this happened in 2016, and the dupes were Hillary Clinton supporters. “Avoid the Line,” said Mackey’s post. “Vote from Home. Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925. Vote for Hillary and be a part of history.”

Gee, the integrity of our elections is really jeopardized with that one.

These jokes are a dime a dozen on social media and, frankly, if you fall for it, you shouldn’t be voting in the first place. You should be attending remedial civics class instead. Nearly 5,000 people evidently responded, though the FBI’s sleuths didn’t bother to note if these chumps did or didn’t actually vote for Hillary Clinton in the election. And, as Andrew McCarthy notes, “In New York, where the case against Mackey is filed, Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump by about 1.8 million votes.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson wryly observed, “Well, it looks like this is the part of the revolution where they start throwing their political opponents in jail. That was fast. It was just a week ago they were telling us about ‘unity.’ Remember that? Well, what we didn’t know at the time is that everyone with power should unite against the rest of the country. ‘Unity’ meant oligarchy.”

This is yet another embarrassment for the FBI. While it is still true that the vast majority of the bureau’s agents are upstanding Patriots who seek to uphold the Rule of Law, there are still evidently some partisan actors who’d rather abuse power for political ends.

This is also the same bureau that spent years chasing the “Russia collusion” rabbit. You might even call it a disinformation campaign. Except that rabbit didn’t just lead down a hole or even to a few shifted votes but to the attempted coup against a duly elected president. And when agents weren’t busy doing that, they were investigating “nooses” at NASCAR tracks. Now, evidently the focus is right-wing meme sharers on Twitter.

Mackey is not technically charged with voter fraud. But as for actual voter fraud, the entire Democrat Party foisted that on the nation in 2020. Where’s the FBI?

Finally, there are dire implications for free speech in what would otherwise be a humorous story. This isn’t just Big Tech companies removing politically inconvenient posts. It’s a citizen being prosecuted by the federal government for posting political speech online. Forget Section 241. Have these FBI jackboots ever heard of the First Amendment?

And if this is what we can expect from Joe Biden’s Social Justice Department — after only two weeks in office — grassroots Patriots had better strap in for a very bumpy four years.

I read about that case and it is shocking. With the charges filed in NYC, he will not stand a chance of getting a fair jury. Take him to OK and he might be awarded damages for what the FIB is doing to him.

I, unlike many here, had no problems with Trump. The only thing that comes to mind was increased spending and debt. While I’m saying this I also think Trump was starting to slip, he said old forgetful man things and repeated words. He will be too old in four years for me. (Joe Biden old) We need someone young and sharp who can listen to both sides and appeal to both sides. Trump actually helps the Dems now. He will cause a split vote in 2024 and help them stay in power.

The so-called “conservative’s” comments on TBP are representative of the reason that the “republican” party is so f’d up. It’s a loose coalition of individuals who’s ‘conservative’ ideas are all over the map, some are fiscal conservatives, some are social conservatives, and some are religious conservatives, still others are ‘libertarian lights’. There is, however, one thing that binds them all together. Pessimism and nihilism, along with the unfailing belief that THEY believe in TRUE conservative ideals and all of the others are not TRUE conservatives. THAT is the breeding ground of apathy.

I was never a “Trump fan” nor a republican, I saw him as I believe he really was. A true believer in the greatness that this country COULD and CAN be, and an opportunist. Hell he’s in real-estate, which is ALL about opportunism. I voted for him twice because he represented those of us who aren’t a part of the ‘system’. For me, he was a ‘middle finger’ to the ‘establishment’, and he did everything I thought he would do. I still believe he represents that. Trump exposed the CRIMINALITY and the pure ROT in DC. Did he FIX everything? No. There’s no man or group of men on earth that can fix DC. However, I’m a firm believer that the first step in RECOVERY is to see and admit that there’s a problem. 80% of Americans now know there’s a problem. Why? Trump. Without Trump people would not have begun to wake up and see the fetid, rotting system that the US has become.

They aren’t going after Trump to punish HIM, they are going after Trump to punish US.

Just my 2 cents.

Threat of a Trump coming back in 2024? What planet are you on? The bad people control the voting process top to bottom and in the judiciary. You don’t even have freedom of speech to suggest otherwise. There will never be anyone outside of the ‘club’ allowed inside the Whitehouse again. If we cant even accept reality – that the republic is gone and not coming back – how can rational, realistic paths forward be taken?

Ford pardoned Nixon because Ford was part of the conspiracy to coverup the CIA’s assassination of JFK by agreeing to, and signing the Warren Report. Nixon threatened to reveal all he knew of the assassination if he was not pardoned.

“Our national establishment prattles endlessly on about its devotion to democracy, but it does not trust the people.”

The founding fathers didn’t trust the people to vote for president, and said so. So the Electoral College was created, which was supposed to be an independent body, not dominated by those in power in the state.
But, of course, it doesn’t matter any more since voting has gone third world.

Yes. Because now the Dems have the presidency and both houses of congress they are going to address election fraud and make it fair. This means Trump just might have another shot. Literally. You can just smell the fear and that’s why the dems are going make America fair again.

Silly, Pat. Aim small, miss small.

Trump is gone and yet….for some reason….he lives on in the minds of many. Focus on Biden, the man who has an earpiece to tell him what to say, notecards to read from and a wife who is more of a nurse and minder.
Now Pelosi is off screaming at republicans and how dangerous they are, congressional republicans that is, and AOC also ‘living’ in fear of those nasty republicans and Trump supporters.
Just sit back, make popcorn and watch the shitshow unfold from a safe distance.

Of course they are driven by fear. Running for president or not, Trump will remain a potent force on the political scene. Forget the Democrats. If you were a anti-Trump Republican seeking reelection, how would you like him on your doorstop holding rallys in favor of your primary opponent? He will be like Hillary Clinton, throwing shade at the man who beat him. Only, people will actually listen to Trump. Every time Biden negotiates with China or Ukraine, Trump will claim he is selling out his country because of money paid to Hunter. I don’t know what medium Trump will use to spread his message, but he is not going away anywhere to write his memoirs. Trump is dangerous to all of the establishment because he doesn’t need their money and he owes nothing to the Republicans.

PB is a fucking delusional retard if he thinks voting matters anymore!!! Trump could get 120,000,000 votes and whoever? would get(wink wink) more. Next election, or is that erection chucky, more votes than population.
