The Reddit Rebellion: Gameplay and Melvin Capital

If you’re confused about the goings-on with this Gamestop fiasco you can get the facts, such as anyone knows them to be at this time from this essay by Glenn Greenwald. As usual, Greenwald puts this complicated subject in an insightful context. This thing is far from over.

It’s not “extremely complex”, it’s so simple reddit users figured it out.

Identify someone with a lot of exposure in short positions, drive up the stock price using the power of a coordinated buy to force a short squeeze.

One sentence.

Here’s the part that is almost impossible to uncover- who was the catalyst for the coordinated effort? It’s possible that it was just some random dude out for a little fun at the expense of a hedge fund, but it is equally possible that it was gamed out just like the CHINESE FLU in order to serve another agenda.

Likely outcomes-

1) Convince the masses that individuals investing in the markets are a threat to our economy and cannot be allowed to make decisions about their own money.

2) Enable another bailout (money laundering operation) by creating a series of these “random events” and make money on the way up, and on the way down because they’re controlling the entire scenario, thereby draining even more capital from investors (the last class of people who still possess anything of value in this cratering economy before introducing the Great Reset).

3) Turn the redditors into a scapegoat for the coming economic implosion and blame it on white male incels, AKA white supremacists.

I can’t see any scenario where this works out for the common man and in every scenario it benefits whoever controls The Narrative.

I’ll take 1-3, Alex, for the win! And add, the stock market is the final frontier in removing any sense of “control” and “autonomy” from the flat-lined middle class. Anyone in the “market” who thinks he has increased his wealth, has only increased his delusion.

No turning back. And that is a beautiful notion. Because what we are leaving behind are the muckety-muck and ashes of a spoilt humanity.

HF, you’re most likely right. My son texted me last night saying he was done with Robinhood and sent a rant that I had posted on another post.

This morning a NYT article on Dealbook section brought up that the reason Robinhood stopped trading was due to the DTCC.
https://messaging-custom-newsletters.nytimes.com/template/oakv2?campaign_id=4&emc=edit_dk_20210129&instance_id=26540&nl=dealbook&productCode=DK&regi_id=58545567&segment_id=50588&te=1&uri=nyt%3A%2F%2Fnewsletter%2F5fb47ee5-62ce-561d-bc57-5c0053685786&user_id=8f708e3ac139647e2f2c4a4b16dfe5f7
Hmm, I just read the lengthy link in the comment by Allin in the” This is a financial revolution” post which breaks down the DTCC and that they own the banks the market and the mortgages. I knew that the depositor to a bank was giving their money to the bank with a promise to be paid back but If this is true about the DTCC and I see no reason to doubt it than the only thing that is yours is what you hold and can defend. Once you invest, deposit or buy real estate it is no longer yours.

Brilliant video rant! As for CEDE and DTCC, that is a good link also. One of the major reasons for CEDE and DTCC (in my opinion) is not simply that they allow control of stocks and bonds, but they allow FRAUDULENT control of stocks and bonds. By centralizing and anonymizing ownership of stocks they permit brokerage firms to sell multiple copies of the same stock. The proces is analogous to how fractional reserve banking allows the same dollars to be loaned to multiple borrowers, or “rehypothicating” gold allows the same bullion to be sold multiple times. The Big Boys can sell the same item over and over and make billions (as long as they bribe enough politicians and regulators) but if you sell your car to two different people you are a felon.

Yes Maggie, I read this years ago in a David Icke book. And researched it myself. Despite his shape shifting reptiles his books are heavily researched and documented. Thanks for the link. I sent it on to a couple ex and retired Air Force officers because I mentioned it when I said our country was a paper tiger militarily and has been for years. One just needs to read that a person in Black’s Law dictionary is a fictional representation of oneself under admiralty law and it is evident that the courts are not representing the common person. Ever wonder why there is gold fringe around flags in all gvt offices and armed forces have gold around the flag patches on their uniforms? Yep, that is the Corporation of the United States.

I said the exact same last night: Don’t fall for it. The bubble is about to burst.

Anybody small around when it happens is going first, remember that. The big ones won’t be anywhere near Ground Zero, they’ll be too busy sweeping up the money as it falls. This is another Op to try and get people to feel like they’re empowered and can still make a bundle in the markets.

It’s all an illusion, just like the markets themselves.

Uh huh. How is it that when something is too complicated for you to figure out, you have to come to the conclusion that it has to be some diabolical plan started because the average joe is too retarded to figure out for themselves how the game is played by the wall street bettors? Jealously maybe? you wish you had thought of it first maybe? YEAH. Or missed an opportunity? Probably if you had been following r/wsb, you would’ve known a few had started this… and for some time had made a fortune. But then you wouldn’t know that. They let it out to everyone on discord / reddit and wanted them to know how they did it, their methods used , etc.Others followed until it caught on, and everyone jumped in on the action.

We’ve been here before, most recently 2008. Nothing was fixed, in fact, Eric Holder came out and just told all the plebs that those institutions that robbed, stole, lied and cheated to the tune of billions and billions, were ‘too big to fail’ and that the government HAD to bail them out…or else. Dodd Frank was created and, instead of fixing the problem, compounded it.. John Corzine stole millions from his investors and walked away a free bird, primarily because he was a ‘friend of Obama.’

Nothing has changed since then…this little article from Ann Barnhardt was written back then, at least she had enough integrity to shut her business when she realized how filthy and corrupt the system was…

Everything changed just a few short weeks ago. A firm, led by a crony of the Obama regime, stole all of the non-margined cash held by customers of his firm. Let’s not sugar-coat this or make this crime seem “complex” and “abstract” by drowning ourselves in six-dollar words and uber-technical jargon. Jon Corzine STOLE the customer cash at MF Global. Knowing Jon Corzine, and knowing the abject lawlessness and contempt for humanity of the Marxist Obama regime and its cronies, this is not really a surprise. What was a surprise was the reaction of the exchanges and regulators. Their reaction has been to take a bad situation and make it orders of magnitude worse. Specifically, they froze customers out of their accounts WHILE THE MARKETS CONTINUED TO TRADE, refusing to even allow them to liquidate. This is unfathomable. The risk exposure precedent that has been set is completely intolerable and has destroyed the entire industry paradigm. No informed person can continue to engage these markets, and no moral person can continue to broker or facilitate customer engagement in what is now a massive game of Russian Roulette.

“…maybe the real point of all this was the friends we made along the way.”

I have a habit of referring to children’s books again and again, perhaps from all those hundreds of hours I spent in my children’s bedrooms at night reading them to sleep with their favorite stories, but more because those stories became my favorites.

The theme that always comes back around is how easy it is for us to become distracted by what is wrong or what has gone badly for us when the vast majority of our lives are spent in something close to heaven if only we look for it in the simplest things of all.

So here’s a recap of one of their- and my- favorite stories from their distant childhoods- Voyage to the Bunny Planet by Rosemary Wells.

The day is new—only 7:00 a.m. —and already Claire is having a tough time. At breakfast she “ate only three spoons of cornflakes” before the bowl was knocked to the floor. While walking to school, Claire’s feet were soaked by snow, and “by eleven in the morning, math had been going on for two hours.” The cafeteria was serving baloney sandwiches—blecchh!—and at recess “Claire was the only girl not able to do a cartwheel.” At the end of school, all Claire wanted to do was go home, but she was left waiting…and waiting…and waiting at the bus stop.

After all the slights and disappointments, “Claire needs a visit to the Bunny Planet.” She closes her eyes and floats away…. “Far beyond the moon and stars, / Twenty light-years south of Mars, / Spins the gentle Bunny Planet / And the Bunny Queen is Janet.”

Janet ushers Claire into “the day that should have been.” Wafting on the warm winds Claire hears her mother’s voice: “pick me some runner beans and sugar snap peas. / Find a ripe tomato and bring it to me, please.” So early in the season, Claire finds only one red, ripe tomato on the vine. It “smells of rain and steamy earth and hot June sun” that tempts her to taste it, but she puts in her basket and gives it to her mother.

As her mother cooks, Claire sits at the cozy kitchen table shelling the peas. Soon, Claire’s mother brings her a steamy bowl of soup, and as they gaze at each other in understanding, Clair hears her “mother calling when the summer winds blow, / ‘I’ve made you First Tomato soup because I love you so.’”

Finally the bus arrives to take Claire home. During the ride she spies the Bunny Planet “near the evening star” and realizes that it was there all the time.

Excellent video, CC. The disgust of normal every day Americans toward the system is bubbling over. We saw it last summer in the cities when people who were tired of police brutality peacefully protested. We saw it earlier this month when people converged on the District of Corruption to peacefully protest a sham election and now we are seeing it with these reddit users going after the corruption that is Wall Street.

The protests in the cities turned into riots, burning and looting, led by anarchists, with police standing down. The protest in DC led to the storming of the capitol by anarchists and the swamp fought back by bringing in 25,000 armed troops. It is yet to be seen what will happen to the reddit users who brought down a hedge fund, but I am willing to bet there will be some of their influencers who end up being charged with market manipulation and the hedge fund reimbursed by the government. Little people are not allowed to mess with the ruling elite.

Things are getting spicy out there as this 4th turning heads towards a bloody climax and before all is said and done, it will affect each and every one of us. Are you prepared for what’s coming?

Jim:

No apologies necessary, you are a great and kindhearted man who really cares about people. We’ve had our differences, especially on one rather touchy topic, but, that is the nature of discourse, it can get acrimonious.

Like you, I pondered the question of going dark and after some time I realized that that was what ‘they’ wanted me to do. Censor myself, hide and be afraid, live in fear that there could come a time when their boot was at my door and neck.

After some consideration and viewing of events and actions that have happened I came to the conclusion that they could gin up any number of lies and if they wanted me gone, they’d silence me REGARDLESS of anything I may say or write. So, my attitude is…FUCK THEM, who the hell do they think they are!!??

I am not going to bow to a bunch of cowards, liars and thieves who are so secure in their actions that they have to run concertina wire around the Capitol and post troops to guard them. Frauds of the first degree, they had to steal and cheat to get into power and….I do believe I am not alone in my attitude towards the filth that has usurped power, that there are a great number of people who have had it and are not going to take it anymore. (Hat tip Howard Beale)

Do what your conscience dictates, apologise for nothing, and if you decide to stay…welcome back.
Cheers….

You have been very generous towards me, and a big encouragement many many times over the years.

I feel that that friendship has waned over the past few months … if you even still consider me a friend. I take 100% of the blame. I disagreed with you about one, and only one, topic. From all the comments read, I can say for certainty I will still be wealthy tomorrow when I wake up. But not sure of all the others. Sounds like by all the comments on this post, they’re all still going to be as poor tomorrow as they are today.

Hey, Yoji? Before you drop off the map for a time and a half or whatever? I always thought it was interesting that you and I were the only ones who actually called BB. He laughed and laughed when I called because he’d just talked to Yokes and now was talking to Maggie. That was during the Hollywood Robber infestation here at TBP.

However, BB never admitted to talking to me and I think it shocked him that I was real.

Just thought I would share that. Sometimes, when things are not what they seem it is because someone is lying.

I guess it won’t be a surprise that 40% of Robinhood’s income comes from Citadel? Those “free” trades are subsidized by hedge funds who pay for trade flow info to use high frequency trading to front run the trades. In other words , is Robinhood actually part of Citadel as they work for the them and not the small investor? At least that is how I understand the info available I have read and watched.

These big losses the hedgies claim were guaranteed by the FICC which sort of looks like a backdoor bailout.

In the simplest terms, you have been had AGAIN. Is this the beginning of the end of the markets, me thinks the little guy was set up and the “BIGS”are still very much in control.
