That one comes to mind in the context of “police reform”. If you stop pulling people over for a broken tail light or expired tabs, you may reduce a police killing like Daunte Wright (lady cop thought she was using her taser), but then more criminals go un-arrested and kill more people. You prosecute a cop for killing a guy who’d already died of an overdose and 20% of the police force quit, leaving the criminals free to run wild and kill more innocents. You stop cops from chasing cars at high speeds in densely populated areas and criminals (like Daunte Wright) decide to try to flee at high speed.
