Back at ya. And a special “attaboy” for any of you fathers out there that at one time played the game, and donned “the tools of ignorance”. Assuming most guys under 50 are unfamiliar with that reference, the tools of ignorance are Catcher’s Gear.

My son stopped in again this morning for breakfast. He’s got a good dad.

Then, he left. We’ve got a great son.

Good on you.

Mine is stationed 15 hours west in Omaha.

Gets home once a year and hangs out at work with me.

Miss him.

I empathize… my son worked in Kansas City, several hours away until early summer last year, when he quit his job to get out of crazy world.

He managed to escape.

Aww that made me think of some of those moments with my dad…….like him taking me to the tennis courts at the park but I was only a little girl with not much strength at the time those old wooden rackets so heavy) and even though I could make conact with the ball and hit it back it was NEVER to him and he ran around A LOT!!! or the time he took me to one of my track meets and it was SOOOOO HOT couldn’t even put fingers on the asphalt track or they would get blistered and there was NO water or ice to be found at the fast food place near the track — he had to take salt tablets – we never enjoyed a drink of water so much as that day……..or the fact that whenever we (my sisters) saw him when we were older he would slip us a 20 dollar bill for the trip home in case we needed to eat……………..miss him. He has been gone now 5 years……….

No doubt … you realize the humanity of your father in this movie by seeing the middle-age ‘you’ interacting with your unblemished young and innocent father before he did what he had to do to raise a responsible man … A truly beautiful and moving thing!!

Hope my kids watch this movie without any prompting and realize the same thing.
