SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Mahler: 6. Sinfonie ∙ hr-Sinfonieorchester ∙ Andrés Orozco-Estrada

A month or so ago we did Mahler’s 3rd symphony. Now we go to his 6th.

I. Allegro energico, ma non troppo
II. II. Andante moderato
III. III. Scherzo. Wuchtig
IV. IV. Finale. Allegro moderato

hr-Sinfonieorchester – Frankfurt Radio Symphony

Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Dirigent

hr-Sinfoniekonzert

This comes to us from our Admin. It is meant as a compliment to Austrian Peter’s addition of the saxophone. Many thanks…

Ludlows

Today, I’d like to play more of the excellent Film Symphony Orchestra.

The Film Symphony Orchestra is a ground-breaking artistic project which was founded to address a gap in the musical and cultural industry in Spain.

This elite, professional symphony orchestra is made up of more than 70 musicians, exclusively dedicated to music for cinema and related art forms. Led by the internationally acclaimed composer and conductor Constantino Martínez Orts, the FSO performs a rich program of film music concerts, sometimes accompanied by visual projections.

With cinema always at its core, and with a consistent preoccupation for quality, Film Symphony Orchestra launches a singular, innovative initiative which aims to bring symphonic music to a wide audience, uniting culture, art and spectacle under the umbrella of one unique experience.

We’ll start out with a piece penned by James Horner titled “Ludlows” from a movie titled “the Legends Of The Fall.”

Horner was an excellent composer and conductor of movie scores. He was an avid pilot that unfortunately died at the young age of 61 when his Short Tucano turboprop plane crashed.

Tombstone (Overture)

Next, from the movie “Tombstone”, is the overture by Bruce Broughton.

Main Theme (Exodus)

We’ll follow that with Ernest Gold’s “Main Theme” from the motion picture titled “Exodus.”

Silverado

Going back to the excellent composer Bruce Broughton, we’ll play his piece “Silverado” from the 1985 Western film of the same name.

The Patriot Suite

We’ll finish this off with FSO playing the great John Williams “The Patriot Suite” from the 2000 film, “the Patriot.”

I hope that you have enjoyed these selections.

Have a great Sunday.

The good news at Teton Symphony this summer after all the mask up nonsense in the hall.

The conductor referenced Aldux Huxley with respect to music, mountains and trees.

Was he sending some of us a secret message?

Heaven has indeed helped us!
By bringing your efforts of the much anticipated Sunday music, for which you get much deserved gratitude.

I stumbled across this fascinating piece on the King of all instruments, the pipe organ.
Twenty five minutes to explain in great detail the historical evolution, and current operation of this
truly monstrous and fabulous instrument. Four Thousand pipes! Astounding.

Thank you again! Love hearing the FSO. It was a surprise to listen to Harden My Heart, but yes, the sax is prominent.

See you next week.
