If most of the people fighting with Washington had realized that the ultimate goal of the “revolutionary leaders” was to create a North American version of the British mercantilist/fascist/crony-capitalist system, ultimately run for the benefit of the landed white elite in the colonies, I doubt that anywhere near as many would have signed up to fight.
