TIME TO MOVE TO ROMANIA

For what it’s worth, and for wherever it lands, I’m about seeking the truth on ANYTHING. There are too many cult-like people on both the right, and the left, that once they set their mind on someone or something there is no amount of empirical data that will sway them. It’s both sad, and sickening at the same time. There are a few on this platform (I’ll leave them nameless) that fall into this category of cult-like and who loath me for pointing out their hypocrisy and anger when you present information that is contrary to their belief system.

I believe Doug knows that I’m a bible-believing, Jesus following Christian. I also screw up a lot and I put on the ‘old man suit’ too often but hey, I’m better than I used to be! I do happen to like respectful, fact-based intercourse with anyone, whether they are a believer; or not. If it turns ugly, then I’ll say ‘buh-bye!’.

Genesis 11:26: “And Terah lived seventy years and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.”

Genesis 11:31-12:1
31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees (didn’t exist until circa 9th century B.C.); and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah dies in Haran.
1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee:

Genesis 12:4: “So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.”

Acts 7:4 “Then came he out of the land of Chaldeans (impossible before circa 9th century), and dwelt in Haran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, where ye now dwell.”

Mathematical points:
(1) Terah was at least 70 when he had Abram. It would seem he was exactly 70 and that Abram was the first-born.
(2) Abram lived in Haran until his father died, a period of no more than 205 – 70 = 135 years. Abram was old enough to have a wife in Ur, so 120 years is a nice upper limit to Terah’s age when he left Ur.
(3) Abram was 75 when he left Haram after his father died.
(4) If Abram was born when Terah was 70, Abram was (205 – 70) 135 years old when Terah died and at least 135 years old when he left Haran.
(5) To make the math work, Terah had to be no more than 205 – 75 = 130 when Abram was born for Abram to depart Haran at age 75.
(6) The plain meaning of the text is that Terah was 70 when the first-born, presumably Abram, was born; but Christians with math awareness must make narrative adjustments and suppose Abram was NOT first born: https://www.defendinginerrancy.com/bible-solutions/Genesis_11.32.php .

It is my understanding that the Holy Spirit/Ghost inspires Bible writers and copyists to get it Christian Scripture right. It is a miracle in all languages, yes? Never mind the false ending of Mark to give us the Trinity in the Christian Bible, which is not there and was not invented until the late 4th century.

Now let’s talk about Jewish monolatry. Deuteronomy recognizes other god exist and there fore the Jews (really Judahites) before the Babylonian Capture were practicing monolatry. El was not equal to YHWH the war god. How did they get there? The government people of Jerusalem toppled all the other alters to YHWH and perhaps others to create an alter monopoly. Other gods were not to be worshipped, which means there were other gods.

El and YHWH are retroactively equated to be the same God. In King James Version, YHWH is rendered LORD and El (various forms) is rendered God unless the juxtaposition requires adjustment for readability: https://mit.irr.org/are-jehovah-and-elohim-different-gods .
