I have explained to several shop owners here in BC that the mask mandate is not for them to enforce. There is no penalty for the shops if they do not enforce it. The only penalties that can be applied are to individuals for non-compliance, yet many places still demand a face diaper.
Canada is (mostly) a nation of obsequious little rule followers and wannabe dictators who itch to ‘rule’ someone if they can so they can feel important.
I fear we are entirely fucked here. Either too nice or too cowardly, it makes no difference, as even those who resist will never do what is required to actually restore our rights.
It is sad that small business owners are getting slaughtered financially with all this covid nonsense, but the great majority of them went down this road with hardly a peep of dissention, so at this late point, tough shit.

That looks like 8th Avenue SW in downtown Calgary. I have been there. Lots of good restaurants line the street and from the look the video they are all empty.
With the people rebelling like this, the only way these restaurants and businesses will survive is if they tell the government to fuck-off and ignore the vaccine and mask mandates. If the follow the government’s dictates, they are toast.
