Some backstory on this guy: My mother, who was a court reporter in Dallas, knew him and worked with him a few years ago. She also says he’s queer, which explains this whole deal.
Of special interest is how you’ll see that both the gender of the person he was soliciting for sex is not mentioned, nor is the website which he used to solicit.
My guess is, it’s a pedo site, and lots of lawyers know and use it, which is why they can’t let that get out; but at the same time, the state can’t let him get away with it now. But he’s a criminal defense attorney; he knows he’ll get adjudicated probation, and so do they, and that’ll be the last we’ll hear about this.

According to the affidavit, Phillip Wayne Hayes, 48, of Dallas, allegedly responded to a posting on a website “commonly used for human trafficking and prostitution.” The affidavit states that Hayes and an undercover officer with the Texas Department of Public Safety exchanged text messages on October 5 and that Hayes’ phone number was traced via open source and law enforcement databases. During the text message exchanges, the affidavit states that Hayes requested one hour of incall (a term used to denote that the client will go to the location of the provider for service) to engage in sexual contact for $110.
Upon Hayes’ arrival at the location, Hayes was taken into custody and interviewed. However, due to his involvement with the in-progress murder trial, law enforcement decided to obtain a warrant at a later date following the conclusion of the trial. Hayes was then formally charged on Friday, Nov. 6 with solicitation of prostitution.

Not to defend this prick, but he honestly didn’t have a chance to win this case, not when his client straight-up admitted to the murders. And look at the killer’s mugshot, the bastard’s smirking.
Keep in mind, though: people like him are working in hospitals. These are the sort of people hospitals attract, apparently — killers who use medicine as an excuse to make a living while they kill.
Also, a death penalty conviction is an automatic appeal, so even though that’s a waste of money/time (and another lawyer) this devil will be getting three-hots-and-a-cot while waiting to go home to Hell, but his victims at least are in a better place.
The questions which shake me to the core are, what sort of society have we become that spawns people like him? And how many more hims are out there?
