Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo

I am providing this music video for your Make Benefit Understanding Of Glorious Dothead Culture  ….. just like I did with  Olena (that gorgeous Siberian throat singer), and  The Hu (the Mongolian rock band),  of which both videos were met with great appreciation. (Really).

So, why this, now?  Because there was a rather lengthy article about the singer, Lata Mangeshkar, in today’s  NJ Shit Ledger.  She died a couple days ago, age 92.

The entire nation of 1.1 billion people is in great distress. In fact, Prime Minister Modi declared two days of national mourning.  “I am anguished beyond words. She leaves a void in our nation that can not be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice has an unparalleled ability to mesmerize people.”, he said.

She is like Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson all rolled into one … only more successful and popular (at least in India). Read some of the comments in the youtube video …. it’s as if God Almighty has died!

I’m not sure why they are so devastated.  Don’t Hindu’s believe in reincarnation?  And Karma …. that if you lived a bad life you come back as a lower life form, and if you lived a good life you come back even better, greater, and higher?  She might come back as Kamala Harris, really, that’s how damned wonderful she is (at least in India).

Anyway, I thought that when a billion people mourn someone that you TPBers should be aware of it … really, not kidding, so that your Cultural Understandings might be expanded beyond whatever-the-fuck is popular in America today (of which I have very little clue).

In closing, the song commemorates the Indian soldiers who died during the Sino-Indian war.  You can read about it  HERE.  It’s so beautiful, so moving, such melody, the voice of an angel … bring your tissues folks.

R.I.P.  Lata Mangeshkar.

Lyrics in English.

O people of my homeland

O the people of my homeland
shout slogans as much as you want
this is our auspicious day
fly the beloved tricolor
But don’t forget that on the border
Heroes (*The braves) have their lives
lost
Also remember the ones
Also remember the ones
who did not return home
who did not return home
O the people of my homeland
bring yourself to tears
Those who have attained martyrdom
Remember their sacrifice
(just so you) do not forget them
so listen to this story
Those who have attained martyrdom
Remember their sacrifice
When The Himalayas got injured
Freedom became endangered
They fought until their last breath
And then they laid down their own (dead) bodies
With bayonets against their foreheads
immortal martyrs finally rested
Those who have attained martyrdom
Remember their sacrifice
some (were) Sikh, some Jaat Maraathaas
some (were) Sikh, some Jaat Maraathaas
some (were) Gurkhas, some from Madras
some (were) Gurkhas, some from Madras
(of) Those who died on the border
(of) Those who died on the border
All braves were Bhaarat-vasi
The blood that stained the mountains
that blood was Hindustaani (Indian)
Those who have attained martyrdom
Remember their sacrifice
Their bodies were soaked in blood
but still they picked up their gun
ten-ten were killed by each (one)
Then they fell down losing consciousness
When the final hour came
They said, “Lets rest now.”
“Stay happy
(oh) the beloved people of the country.”
“Stay happy
(oh) the beloved people of the country.”
“Now we must be on our way.”
“Now we must be on our way.”
Oh how crazy were those people
Oh how conceited  were those people
Those who have attained martyrdom
Remember their sacrifice
Jaya Hind
Jaya Hind’s Army
Jaya Hind
Jaya Hind’s Army
Jaya Hind, Jaya Hind, Jaya
