Yes, Putin would have still invaded Ukraine with Trump as President for two reasons:
1) Trump could never create the closer relationship he wanted with Russia because of all the crazies controlling our government.
2) All the crazies who allowed this mess to happen are the same crazies who were there under Trump, Obama, Bush II, etc., etc..
The US President is simply the guy who poses for pictures. The government is controlled by the crazies behind the scenes.
It seems to me that who is/was the President at the time of Russia’s move is somewhat irrelevant. The U.S. and NATO has time and time again reneged upon its promise after the Cold War (1991) to not expand NATO beyond the Elbe.
In 1999 , Hungary, Poland and The Czech Republic were added, thus violating that earlier promise. I believe it was in early 2004 that Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia joined NATO. Albania and Croatia joined in 2009, followed by Montenegro in 2017 and North Macedonia in 2020. Nice pinky-swear, NATO.
So, since our “promise” we have continued to expand past the Elbe until we found ourselves at Putin’s back door – Ukraine. We wouldn’t allow offensive missiles ninety miles from our border, why would Putin? Any promise to not put missiles in Ukraine, if they joined NATO, is as empty a promise as any of our earlier promises. I can’t blame Putin. He’s obviously fed up with our continual lies, our desire to put missiles in Ukraine, and he is through dicking around with the current regime in the U.S. It would be nice if the U.S. would have as strong a leader that loves his country and his people, as opposed to Obama, Biden and the long list of anti-American politicians in Washington that truly hate The United States and the majority of its people. Rather than protect America our current anti-American leaders allow our own invasion, they destroy our military and give U.S. taxpayer money (85 billion) in the form of military weapons and equipment to a bunch of goat rapists in Afghanistan.
