Back to great high school memories – 1982 style. When MTV actually had music videos.

I’ll add these from my junior high mix tape:
A punk rocker! Get ’em!
Yaz was awesome, sort of a pre-Eurythmics, and Avalon (Roxy Music) is a fantastic album all around, great choices
Roxy was a great band.
i’m not sure if there’s another album other than Avalon that i can listen all the way through. someone brought Avalon up in another forum & commented that it was the only album that still made them want to ‘fuck & do drugs’. a degenerate thing to say yes but it is truly moving. another way of putting could be that it’s like stepping into a romantic fantasy.

I was, (and still am), into the heavier/more “Prog” stuff, but couldn’t stand “Thrash”….
’82 was an AWESOME year. (Don’t know how to post video here, but here goes)
There were a couple of tracks from:
Iron Maiden’s “Number of the Beast”
Judas Priest’s “Screaming for Vengeance”
Scorpions “Blackout”
Rush, from both “Moving Pictures” and “Signals”
Van Halen “Diver Down”
KISS “Creatures of the Night”
Plus offerings from Night Ranger, Michael Schenker, Sammy Hagar, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Rainbow, Def Leppard…….
My Junior/Senior years in High School saw a LOT of Badass shows……
Saw them at a rather small performance hall. Drove home on my motorcycle … never heard the engine.
Not sure where to put these so a music post will have to do;

Remember when Rock and Roll was rebellious and about freedom?
Now many of the big names are compliance demanding, jab-pushing state worshipers.
Fuck them.
Man, the rear ends are so white here they could be used as hospital paint samples.
1982 for me was:
Dazz Band ‘Let It Whip’
Zapp ‘Do Wah Ditty’
EWF ‘Let’s Groove Tonight’
George Clinton ‘Atomic Dog’
Michael Jackson !! ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’
Prince !! ‘1999’
Stevie Wonder ‘Ribbon In The Sky’
Gap Band ‘ You Dropped A Bomb On Me’
….you get the point. 🙂
Wall of Voodoo , Missing Persons
Mexican radio……
rest in peace Neil
“Centerfold” is probably the worst example of the J. Geils Band ever.
Seeing them live was the only way to experience their energy.
Couldn’t agree more with you Dubya.
The “classic rock” stations where I live play that song all the time. It sucks.
To hear Geils’ good stuff, you have to venture into “Deep Cuts” programming
on Sirius, or some other satellite / streaming music provider…or play your own
CD’s or MP3 / MP4 files, if digital is good enough.
Something about the snap crackle & pop of a stylus on a spinning platter of vinyl, tho.
Their FULL HOUSE album captures some of their energy, but being in attendance at
one of their shows in the late 70’s / early 80’s was a memorable experience, for me at least
Cheers.
